UAF scored six power play goals including a hat trick by Jared Sylvestere and two goals each by Kelly Czuy and Kyle Greentree to defeat Grant MacEwan College 7-4 in a penalty filled game on Friday night. Greentree gave the Nanooks a 1-0 lead at 14:19 of the first period when he knocked home a rebound on a power play. The Nanook power play then scored four more goals to take a 5-0 lead in the second period with Czuy scoring at 4:13, Sylvestre at 9:00, Czuy at 13:41, and Sylvestre at 14:15. Daryl Bowers scored the Griffins' first goal on a power play at 18:33 to end the second period with a 5-1 score. Darrell Goretzki scored at 0:40 of the third period to cut the lead to 5-2 before Sylvestre finished his hat trick with a power play goal at 5:28 and Greentree tallied his second goal of the night on a 4x4 at 11:54 for a 7-2 lead. Grant MacEwan scored a pair of late goals by Richard Kelly at 16:10 and Joel Becker at 16:44 after Cramer Hickey was assessed a five-minute major penalty for high sticking. Czuy, Fraser, Jason Grinevitch, and Adam Powell all had two assists and Sylvestre had one for a four-point night.
