Hey,
I was looking at the gophers eastern opponents to see if there were any big changes. Noticed one of the Brown assistants had left. I met him out here last year - nice guy. Any ideas where he went?

He's the girls' assistant at the Taft School in CT.

Jon Guiffre is the coach in question. He was the second assistant, which does not indicate any dearth of talent (quite the contrary in Guiffre's case, in my opinion), but is nevertheless a substantially less attractive proposition than being a first assistant or head man, even if it sometimes requires dropping a level or two. Furthermore, Brown's first assistant (Ryan Stone) appears to me to be the heir apparent to fill Digit Murphy's rather large shoes behind the Brown bench, meaning that Guiffre's chances of ever running the Brown program may have been minimal at best.
I wish Guiffre all the best in his new position, and the silver lining for Brown appears to be the chance to bring Ali Kenney back to the program.
FWIW, Colgate *head coach* Ted Wisner made a similar career move after resigning the position in 2002, and he's now returned to the college game as an assistant at Clarkson and now St. Lawrence. So, it's not at all an unprecedented move, and don't be surprised to see Guiffre back in the college ranks in the future.

FWIW - I know that the prep game can be attractive for many reasons vs. the colegiate one. There's so much more here than just the prestige of hte level and the pay in my mind. Concerns like family, travel, pressure, etc. are high in any coaching job, but likely more endurable at the Prep than College level. Not sure how the $$$ compares, but if you can make comparable $ (or even a little less...) in a personally better setting, who wouldn't? I'm stating the obvious, but just throwing it out there...
I know nothing of the current situation - just a generalization.
