Looks like the eye will go right over Boca Grande and Placida, which are just to the west of Charlotte Harbor. The problem is that the winds in Charlotte Harbor will be pushing all of the water up towards Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda. Major, major flooding probably.

Great, so my friends in Sarasota get spared, but this thing looks like it may track across the state and end up around Melbourne Beach where some other friends have a house on the water:rolleyes: I don't see Charley hitting at Melbourne Beach. He's on a course with the North Coast, not south of the Space Coast.

They're going to get rain and high water and wind, but not the brunt.

T-minus 15 minutes until landfall.

No. I'm on the air. I'll be back following the storm in about three minutes.

I know...me and my stupid priorities. :)

Hey Nick!

Check out the pressure drops at KPGD...... 11 mb in the last hour!
Not bad!

PS
How's VA treating you?

This is fun stuff. You notice that the last report from PGD didn't have a wind measurement? Hmmm. This thing is going to go right up the bay to Punta Gorda and Pt. Charlotte. Wow.

VA is great so far. Finally met some people here that are my age. I've been working with all of these 50+ year old PhD's and I feel like an idiot.

edit: I should say that this is fun stuff to look at from a weather perspective. I just hope that there aren't any fatalities and that damage is minimal (which isn't likely I'm afraid :( )

Jenna--

Relatively speaking, I'm sure things are just peachy there. It's bad, but not nearly as bad as first anticipated.

Good to hear, look up Caskey while your out there.

I did notice the lack of wind data....it's nice being at the office during an event like this, all kinds of fun tools at your fingertips.

Thanks my parents have a house there, I was just wondering how things are going in that area.

76 mph wind gust at Fort Myers.

By the way, the radar sites I use are all crapping out. I'm having a helluva time finding a radar that I can use.

Depending on your definition, we may have acheived landfall. The eye looks to be over the barrier islands to Charlotte Harbor. It should make its official landfall a few miles south of Punta Gorda.
