Not to mention that if it takes a slight right of center track, Rhode Island and Cape Cod will take notice.

It looks like it has passed over Key West - any reports on damage yet? It's tough to be around there with the storm surge when the keys don't get much higher than 10 feet above sea level!

Luckily, the Keys didn't take a direct hit. I think I saw reports of 60 mph wind gusts at Key West. That's bad, but nothing compared to what's about to happen.

A real nasty cell is coming right at them with a possible tornado. I would suggest moving away from Epcot. NOW.

Not too much damage, it actually went fairly well west of Key West.

It looks like the Carolinas will be getting more rain, perhaps, than Fla.
The WC had 2-6 inch projections, with 4-6 inch projections for the Carolinas and up to the CT-NY border.

The latest advisory discussion from the Hurricane Center does mention a projection that Charley will go back over open water. It does not mention much more than that they think it will be over open water, as the main concern right now is initial landfall.
This (http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/text/refresh/MIASPFAT3+shtml/131758.shtml?) is an updated chart showing the probability of the center of this storm passing within 65 nautical miles of a given point. Numbers are in percentages.

"Probably the worst hit for Florida since Andrew."

You beat me to it.
The only way we can appease him is to ritually sacrifice Martin St. Louis.

The Orlando mayor says it's potentially the worst to hit them in 40 years. And they're practically on the other side of the state!!
The Cincinnati Bengals went to Orlando to ride the storm out. Hopefully, they're all smart enough to stay inside.

Now it looks like Tampa won't get it as bad as initially thought. They are on one hell of a streak...
I would not want to be in Port Charlotte right now. They are going to get rocked by both the wind and the storm surge coming right up into the bay. Not good. :(

I'm sure the best they can wrangle up is the Lightning Bug mascot though.

Disney World shut down at 1 pm so I'd imagine that the rest of the theme parks in Orlando are doing the same.

So we're looking at it hitting the Daytona-Ormond Beach area sometime within the next what, 6 hours?

Ruh roh. My aunt and uncle live in Punta Gorda.
Our call center north of Orlando closed down for the day.

Steve Lyons is the chief expert the Weather Channel has on this?!?!? We're doomed.
"Portions of these places are probably already underwater."
Oh, wait, its another one.

I brought it up because that's the area thats getting the least impact.
North of that is a Hurricane Warning thats goes into, I think, South Carolina. Then there's a Hurricane Watch for the NC coast.
