My house didnt even get rain. At my kids house in Sarasota there were some strong winds but nothing spectacular and didnt even lose electricity.. we were very lucky.

Since this is Hurricane Charley...Will the next hurricane this year be Hurricane Ditka?

I see that I was missed yesterday. I actually got a rare day off, as I had tickets to a baseball game last night (Lowell Spinners). However, I'm in for a 10-hour shift today (on my day off). So I'll be checking in from time-to-time.
Bruce, glad to see the quote from Gary Gray's website. I'll let him know he's crossed over from weather geeks to media and hockey geeks. :D (He's a good friend of mine - we went to UMass-Lowell together to study meteorology.)

Tropical Storm Danielle is in the eastern Atlantic, and Tropical Depression Five will likely become Tropical Storm Earl later today before crossing the Windward Islands on Sunday.

My dad's been trying to get a hold of his sister and her husband that live in Punta Gorda. Phone service there is down. He talked to her yesterday and thinks they should be OK as their house is pretty solid. He was watching the news this morning and saw the coverage of that mobile home park where it's rumored that some people died and told me that he and my mom had looked at that place to buy something. Yeesh.

Read an piece about Charley in today's Star-Trib, a guy steps outside for a heater during the storm and dies when a Banyan (sp?) tree falls on him. Yikes.

WOW! Where'd you see that one?

Heard it from the CNN reporter. Don't know if I completely believe it. Plus, it was probably at the top of a hospital which is higher than the 10m standard.

As a matter of fact, yes. My dad's been trying all day but phone lines are most likely down. I called my cousin who has just moved to Florida, living in Hollywood. He called my dad to say that his folks are fine and he was driving to pick them up and bring them to stay with him for a while. No power or water, etc. Their house is fine, the screened in lanai was damaged, but given the destruction I saw on TV there, I think they're pretty lucky.

Charlie is a mere 2 hours from inflicting his rage on Quinnipiac for going to the ECAC.
Thanks again, Q...

Charlie has been a biatch and is bearing down on Cape Ann in Massachusetts right now. I worked overtime today and yesterday to take first claim reports for clients that were hit by the storm.
I have had 4 calls in two days in something like a 14 hour span.
Not bad to sit on my butt, post on USCHO and make half a weeks pay when I had nothing to do anyhow.
