Any takers that this thing will exit land between KSC and Melbourne Beach? Doesn't look like its heading north of KSC....does it????

DTP-

I'm not sure what's happening now. Maybe some of the others can help here, but the original path had it hitting the Atlantic well north of Melbourne, closer to Volusia County. If it continues on that path the eye will pass directly over Daytona Beach Shores. Not sure what happened with the northern wiggle, but I'm thinking it's still on that path.

Actually, it would have to take a turn to the right to exit south of KSC. I bet its north.

I shoulda known what that meant...eh, it's been 2 years since Aviation Meteorology...

dtp...looks to be heading almost right at KSC

Holy crap, you should be listening to the radio station linked below. Not good. A shelter with 1400 people in it had the roof blow off. And one county does not have 911 service because the county building is on fire.

Fox had a report that NASA let all 13,000 workers go early this AM and only kept a skeleton crew of 200 on to weather the storm.

The link to WXGL-FM appears to be a simulcast of a local St. Petersburg TV station. They are describing much damage, mobile homes destroyed, fires, roofs off, etc.

Try that, then click on the little lightning bolt next to WXGL.

I'm listening to it right now, in WMP

If this holds accurate, it will be roughly going over my county as I drive to work sunday morning.

But it'll be long gone (or at least a heckuva lot weaker) when I head down to NYC monday. :)

Edit: I know of course it'll be muuuuuuuuch weaker than it is now, but it'll still probably be a kick-*** storm when it gets up here.

Type in zip code 33871 for Sebring, Florida who's about to get whooped. The nearest station is 40 miles away, but click cams.

The time lapse from the Swan and Dolphin Hotel at Walt Disney World and the next one at the Vanderbilt Inn are stunning.

According to the talking heads on TWC, Charley's going to hit Orlando within the next three hours and leave the state at Daytona Beach. I'm guessing it's not going to be strong enough to damage a concrete building, but I'm still a little concerned.

So, we're going to have a hurricane party tonight, drink tropical drinks and watch The Weather Channel.

We were closed today.. that being said ( I work for Nielsen) we just this past year moved into a new building in Oldsmar (just west of Tampa) which is state of the art in terms of hurricane protection particulrly for the data center (a truly amazing room) this was looking like the first test but thankfully we dodged it. My house didnt even get rain. At my kids house in Sarasota there were some strong winds but nothing spectacular and didnt even lose electricity.. we were very lucky.
