Cheney is already president. If Bush wanted Cheney off the ticket, he would have to ask Cheney's permission first.

personally, I think it would be political suicide to dump cheney, it sends a message of desperation. but if bush really slides in the ratings, replacing cheney with a more user friendly mccain or guiliani might regain a lot of the support bush is currently losing

The NYT can now manufacture news instead of reporting it? Why would the Republicans dispense of arguably the most effective vice-president since George HW Bush under President Reagan?

While the media and Democrats would love to create some type of spin, this is clearly a far superior administration than any the two Johns can assemble.
