It is my understanding is that Shattuck is about to take a huge step in the way of stepping up their program. The school has announced it's plans to build a brand new hockey complex. The new building is to have two sheets of ice and will also include the professional style locker rooms the teams now enjoy. The school is making these improvements with the hopes of attracting the children of former NHL players children and drawing more star players than they already do.
This is great news for the girls program. It is rumored that soon there will be an X-NHL Head Coach coaching the girls prep team. This rumor has some merit as they have already paved they way by moving the current girls coach into an administrative position. This move is long coming to equal out the boys programs who have been coached by (Andy Murray -Now head Coach of the L.A. Kings) and the past courtings of the late Herb Brooks. The experience should be great for the new girls
The girls are once again scheduled to play against two foreign Olympic teams also two years from now as the teams begin to gear up for the Olympics. Shattuckl played two games against China before the last Olympics. Great exposure for the future girls of SSM
It looks as if the school is pushing to make the girls progam as great as the boys program. (This makes the second straight year that SSM players TOP the NHL draft scouting list).
Good Luck to SSM and all the girls playing there in the future.
