I agree that Spector looked pretty decent.

ManU really isn't playing much of their starting lineup in these games, probably less than a lot of the other squads, so as much as I enjoy seeing them lose at any time, last night's loss really isn't bad given who was on the field.

Good day for all the Man City/Arsenal/Liverpool/Anyone Else fans on this board.
Hail Hail! The Celts are here... :)

What do you think of your newest acquisition, Jon?

Camara Set to Join Celtic on Record Loan Deal from Wolves

Guess we just had to balance things off, what with Alex Rae joining Rangers earlier this summer ... :)

Seems like the Camara deal isn't a bad setup for Wolves. If they can bounce back to the EPL, they could bring Camara back. If not, they can loan him again or sell him.

Exactly, Bob. Although with some of Camara's comments during the last few weeks, it'll be tough to integrate him back into the squad, much less the hearts of the Molineux faithful.

The term "Camarat" has been coined by those less than pleased with Henri's *loyalty* ...

Entertaining match today between Liverpool and Porto, with Porto getting a late winner to take it 1-0. Much better action than some of the yawners in recent days. I found myself rooting for the Scousers, as Porto was up to their usual gymnastics. But Porto does really have some nice players and they look set to do well post-Mourinho.

Well, after the close (but ugly) match with Bayern on Sunday, the United Youth squad couldn't pull it out against Celtic.

No Scholes
No Ruud
No Rio
No Ronaldo
No Silvestre
No Saha

No big deal.

No hope
No defence
No chance at beating City this season

;)

Totti's header was a thing of beauty and I would imagine that even his naysayers would say that his play was terrific tonight.

Soldier Field is a neat place to watch a soccer match. Over the weekend I ran into a few ManU fans at Pizzeria Uno. One of them was Irish. In his eyes, Roy Keene is infallible.

I asked the English guy..."Is anyone good going to be playing for Manchester United tomorrow night?"

His response, "To even be on Manchester United you have to be good. Everyone who plays is a great football player."

There was no bias there ;)

I was also at the ManU-Bayern match. I was in the area on business and figured i'd take in a game. Soldier Field is a great place to catch a game, particularly on that day when the temps were in the 70's and the sun was out.

If Don King still reads this thread regularly he will probably fall out of his chair after reading that I actually went to a soccer (or is it football?) game. Of course, I had no idea which team was which, and when I asked the guy near me with the Irish flag who was who at the start he looked like he was going to be sick. :D

That said, I enjoyed the game despite the utter lack of scoring, and found myself watching the AC Milan match today while waiting for my plane at Midway.

Nathan, if this continues you might actually have someone else to talk soccer with at our hockey games.

Scholes has quit England.

Nedved is quitting CR.

I can't say I'm surprised at the Scholes announcement. I think he wants to concentrate on club play and get more of a break. I think his asthma is starting to affect his fitness.

I read that part of the reason the gingerbread man quit international soccer is that he wants to spend more time with his wife and kids. He's a bit on the young side to be quitting, but I can't blame him for want more family time, even if he is a Manc! :)

Apparently soccernet is once again reporting that Viera has been sold to Real Madrid for 23.1 million pounds. Honestly he's worth more than that, and should have been sold for 30 plus. Oh well, it might just all be poppycock anyways

I read that Viera is beating W by a good five points in the latest poll.

Arsenal beats ManUre 3-1 in the Community Shield. Reyes reigns supreme, and he should be the other starting striker for Arsenal this coming season, not Bergkamp.

Bergkamp will be quite useful to come on as a sub or the spot start to give Reyes a break.

In other news, Liverpool has sold England international Danny Murphy(who has never been the same since the broken foot that forced him to miss WC 02) to Tottenham Hotspurs for 3 million pounds.

Arsenal looked much the better team today, as ManU's back four looked to be in considerable disarray. To me ManU's big question this season is how much Rio can stabilize the backline when he comes back. Reyes looked awesome. Fabregas looked like he could handle first team football right now at age 17, and Van Persie looked quite good also. Even Cygan was pretty solid.

From the reports ManU looked very flat out there. Was the game on FSW?

Predictions Time!

Rank the EPL from 1-20. Also, if you dare, add who you think will come up from the "Championship".

United had neither Saha, Ronaldo nor Ruud in, so that hurt them.

Actually, they had quite a different 11 than I think we would normally see.

Hopefully they play better next week at Stamford Bridge. It'd be nice to get a week 1 win against Chelski to get things started well.

However, I have to say that I really like the Gunners blue shirts.
