View Full Version : My choice for the Kazmaier
This is my order:
1 Angela Ruggiero
2 Jenny Potter
3 Chanda Gunn (Gunn gets hurt by the fact that I haven't seen her play.)

I haven't seen her either, so I don't feel I can rank the three. I don't envy those on the committee who have to do so. With the lack of TV games and the distances involved, most of us don't get to see the top players as much as we'd like.

I would flip flop gano's #'s 1 & 2...and my preference has absolutely nothing to do with recent furor surrounding AR's on ice activity. Of course I haven't seen her as much as Potter.

Gunn is an awesome goalie, but when NU played Harvard this year, Ruggiero was by far the best player on the ice. Probably one of the best women players i've seen. I have not seen Potter play, but from what I hear, it should be a close decission between the 2 of them.

if people could give some arguments to back up their rankings, it'd be appreciated and it would add a lot more to the discussion.
So to preface what I said, I've seen six games with Potter (two on TV), 20 with Ruggiero (one on TV), three games with Gunn (and two Northeastern games with Augustyn). I've met all three at some point. I really don't think this is all that close. I'd say Ruggiero had a monumental impact on just about every game she played there. It's true that Potter was outstanding against Dartmouth, and Ruggiero not as much - but I think you look at each's impact on the games they've played, the influence on their teammates - look at how many goals Harvard gives up considering how young they are back there... I don't feel Potter quite measures up in terms of the impact on the games she plays in and the impact on her teammates. As for Gunn, well she's an outstanding goaltender for sure and brings plenty of great intangibles, but let's face it, the results just aren't there. Ruggiero's having one of the greatest hockey seasons ever, no question, on and off the ice, and I think she should be honored accordingly. But like I've said before, I'll respect whatever the committee decides.

Sorry but Ruggiero is getting so much hype that it seems the media machine has already annointed Angela. It's unfortunate Potter is a great player missing some of the public relations push. (similar to the hype given Wick' which overshadows her equally talented and dedicated teammates)
I do support Ruggiero but I don't like the hype at all. I would be completely supportive if Potter got it. (you know I am a D fan , meaning Defense)
