YES YES!!!!! IT'S BACK!!!! The third edition of the Frozen 64 is here. Before I give out the selections, I will give a quick update. There were some changings of the venues for a more permanent and stable Frozen 64.

The Finals will switch off between Madison Square Garden in New York City and the United Center in Chicago. The major reasoning behind this is that since competitive professional have left these cities many moons ago it is appropriate for the college game to take over. Hence, the 2004 Frozen 64 finals will take place at Madison Square Garden, the world's most famous arena.

Coming Up....FAQs regarding the Frozen 64, who are the #1 seeds, and what D-III teams will make it a field of 64.

FAQs about the Frozen 64

Q: What the hell is this?
A: This is a simulation on what would happen if all the D-I(and 6 D-III teams) were involved in one tournament. Its all fake but its all for fun.

Q: Why Bother??
A: Ahem, for fun and interest

Q: How do you decide who wins??
A: If I told you, I'd have to kill you

Q: Do you show any bias??
A: Yes, I am a fan of the Northeastern Huskies, I show how they would realistically do, hence don't expect them to win this tournament. I severly dislike several teams but I give an honest portrayal of what would happen.

Q: How do you decide who goes where??
A: I do the picks geographically for the most part and keeping the in-conference matches to an absolute minimum for the first two rounds.

Q: Who are the #1 seeds??
A: Atlantic: Maine
Eastern: Boston College
Central: Minnesota
Western: North Dakota

Q: Who will be participating in D-III?
A: In alphabetical order
Midddlebury
Norwich
Plattsburgh
St. Johns
St. Norbert
WI-River Falls

This one would also be interesting because the St. John's coach is none other than John Harrington, member of the 1980 'Miracle' team and father of current Gopher D-man Chris Harrington.

NMU gets to be the home seed and still has to travel all over the place to play!!! What a rip!;)

Very nice touch to have traditional matchups in the first round, even if the tradition isn't necessarily in hockey. This just shows that for CommAvHusky, it's all about the details.

That's rough giving last in the ECAC a lower seed than worst in the CHA. Plus you gave us an 8, that's a pretty good deal. We are hot though, and as you said Princeton has no coach.

Fantastic either way though. It's a good thing we don't believe in post season play or you wouldn't have the time to put this together.

PC has LSSU's number. Big time. I think the Goons are on a 4 game winning streak against the former powerhouse.

In other words, I like this matchup. :)

I love the Gophers but I see North Dakota winning the Frozen 64 this year.

CAH, could you spill a little more dirt over my remains, please? We lose a 3-game heartbreaker to the Weasels (Michigan), and now this? :p Really, though, this may be a blessing in disguise for the Mavs. If trap-happy Mike Kemp can continue to frustrate the other team's forwards for 60 minutes, we could, COULD move into the second round. I love the idea of this tournament; it's less depressing than the Bottom Ten tournament. I mean, this way, instead of just knowing we have the worst team in the country, we can brainwash ourselves into thinking we have a top-flight squad! :)

UNO Hockey: Pretend To Contend!

Anyways, my first-round predictions...
Atlantic: DU, Union, UNH, MTU, Maine, NMU, UNO, and 'kato.

Eastern: BC, Ferris, Colgate, UMass, Ohio State, Niagara, MSU, RPI

Central: Weasels, Brown, Army, UAH, Minnie, Western, Domers, JBSU

Western: UND, NU (cos UAF sucks worse than the Huskies), CC, PC, tUMD, Bowling Green, Wisconsin, BU

Interesting, but UMass vs UConn is not a cross state rival.

Ok, I am splitting hairs here, but I believe that a solid understanding of geography is the foundation of a good education! :D
