All games with five minutes to go in regulation
MANCHESTER,NH
In what could be a stunner, Bentley and UNH are tied at 4. Brendan McCartin took a one-timer so fast that Ayers didn't even more to give Bentley a 4-3 lead. The lead lasted almost ten minutes before UNH put in the equalizer. Preston Callender picked off an errant Bentley play to tie the game. A Bentley win would be a major upset in this tourney.
BUFFALO,NY
Not to take away from the Bentley/UNH game, but another upset is developing here. UConn leads UMass 3-1, Eric Nelson slipped in a rebound and the 12 seed UConn is looking to cause a major upset. No real signs for UMass here, but there is still time left.
DAYTON,OH
What was a close game is now a laugher, Michigan leads Middlebury, opps, another Maize and Blue goal makes it 8-3. Eric Nystrom became the sixth different Wolverine to score, Milan Gajic became the seventh different Wolverine and Jason Ryznar became the eighth different Wolverine to score. This looks done.
DENVER,CO
With time remaining, Northeastern has taken a 5-4 lead on Alaska-Fairbanks with the Nanooks putting a lot of pressure on the young Northeastern defense. Jason Grinevitch gave the Nanooks a 4-3 lead, but NU countered with a beautiful offensive play Mike Morris to tie the game at 4. Just minutes ago, Jason Guerriero has netted a hat trick to give the Huskies the lead. As I report the score, I have heard the pipe clack on the Northeastern end twice,....stay tuned.

Uh-oh. I have a bad feeling about that UNH game. This could be my worst group of picks to date.

End of Regulation
MANCHESTER,NH
NEW HAMPSHIRE 7 BENTLEY 4
The 2002 Frozen 64 champions returned to their senses with a goal just as I left, followed by two empty net goals. Although the game was close, the score is not indictative of that. Justin Aikins broke the 4-4 deadlock and the empty net goals were followed by Steve Saviano and Michael Hutchins. Bentley made a good try but no upset here. UNH will face Dartmouth in the second round in a Granite State Rumble.
BUFFALO,NY
CONNECTICUT 3 MASSACHUSETTS 3
Realizing that the rest of his Minutemen are playing flat, Greg Mauldin took over with two goals in the last five minutes to tie the game. The UConn/UMass will go through the first overtime OT game in the Frozen 64.
DAYTON,OH
MICHIGAN 8 MIDDLEBURY 4
The Panthers got a garbage goal after Al Montoya left the net too early but none the less the Wolverines will be in the second round.Timmy Kyrkostas scored on an 80 footer. Michigan will face Merrimack in the second round.
DENVER,CO
NORTHEASTERN 5 ALASKA-FAIRBANKS 4
Keni Gibson made some superior saves and the Huskies go on for the win at the Pepsi Center. Northeastern will face North Dakota in the second round.
stay tuned for OT between UConn and UMass.

a reminder on the Frozen 64 version of OT, UConn being the road team will have a 5 on 4 powerplay for two minutes.

UConn fails to score, UMass will now have a 5 on 4 power play, if they score, they win. If not, there will be a second overtime where UMass starts.

UMass starts the second overtime, putting pressure on Tomes, three hard shots by Thomas Pock but no goal. Nothing doing for UMass, UConn will have two minutes and will win if they score.

UConn in the second overtime now, Scarpaci shoots, save by Warner, rebound SCORE!!!! James Martin advances UConn to a 4-3 over UMass. The first big upset in the Frozen 64. It seems the UMass fans are not happy as we see the flinging of Hawaiian shirts and pants onto the HSBC Arena
CONNECTICUT 4 MASSACHUSETTS 3 The Huskies will face Colgate in the second round.

At the end of period of play
PROVIDENCE,RI
Alaska-Anchorage and Northern Michigan are tied at 1. Nothing doing in the first ten minutes then the Seawolves drew first blood with a one-timer from Dallas Steward. The Wildcats came back with from Pat Batemen. Tight action so far, this could be a good one.
HARTFORD,CT
Ohio State leads Princeton 4-2 after one. The Buckeyes scored three goals in the first seven minutes. Andrew Schembri got things going with a short-handed goal. Paul Caponigri got an even-handed rebound, off the face off Scott May hit a slap shot against the coachless Tigers. Princeton who hung a jersey of Hobey Baker in the back of the bench got tough later in the period.Sebastian Borza scored a power-play to cut the lead to 3-1, followed by a wristshot by Patrick Neundorfer. Ohio State took charge at the end of the period with a Dave Steckel goal, lots of action, more than what I would expect out of a 15 vs 2 game, its 4-2 OSU after one.
GRAND RAPIDS,MI
Not as exciting but Saint Cloud leads Yale 1-0, a late Matt Hendricks goal gives the Huskies the lead, this has been a hard checking game with few shots and even fewer scoring. 1-0 SCSU after one.
DULUTH,MN
Jake Dowell pounds on a loose puck to give Wisconsin a 1-0 lead over Vermont. The game is close and the Catamounts came to play but the Badgers are on top.

I'm hoping the Anchorage fans didn't throw a fish on the ice, otherwise the goal scorer Pat Bateman would have slashed the heck of that one too.

Oh you know we threw fish on the ice, we have to. I mean we're making fun of squarebanks anyways.

Scores are after two periods of play....
PROVIDENCE,RI
Alaska-Anchorage leads Northern Michigan 3-1 after two periods of play. Brett Arcand-Kootenay scored a power play goal to put the Seawolves ahead and Dallas Steward added an insurance goal to for the 3-1 lead.
HARTFORD,CT
You're not going to believe this but Princeton leads Ohio State 5-4 after two periods. The tigers came in fired up and scored three goals in a eight minute span, stunning the crowd. Sebastian Borza scored for the second time. Kevin Westgarth scored the tying goal and Ian McNally has the go-ahead goal. There has never been a 15 seed advancing in the Frozen 64.
GRAND RAPIDS,MI
Saint Cloud has opened up a 5-0 lead on the Eli after two periods of play. Nate Raduns drove in past the left kneepad to make it 2-0. Tim Conboy scored a one-timer off an errant Yale pass to make it 3-0. Raduns struck again with a one-timer for his second goal of the game. Colin Peters scored on a power play goal, that's where we are here. Yale looking sluggish, lost, and confused.
DULUTH,MN
Wisconsin is now up on Vermont 3-0, the Badgers got aided with goals by Robbie Earl and John Eichelberger
