after one period of play lets go to our correspondents
MANCHESTER,NH
UMass-Lowell leads Union by a score of 2-0. The Riverhawks came crashing the net early and Jason Tejchma crashed in a rebound from Bobby Robbins to get an early 1-0 lead. The game was a tight defensive one until Union made a miscue on the blueline which led to Jerammie Domish to start a breakawy which led to Tejchma going top shelf on Union goalie Kris Mayotte to give Lowell a 2-0 lead after one.
BUFFALO, NY
Boston College feeling a bit ****ed off after their quarterfinal loss against Boston University are blistering Norwich 5-0 after one period. The Eagles have scored three goals in 45 second to take the D-III Norwich out of contension early on. Ned Havern started early on, then Greg Lauze took an opening faceoff a few seconds later to make it 2-0, Ryan Shannon won another faceoff and blistered in to make it 3-0 in the first four mintues of play. Things cooled down until BC made another charge.....Chris Collins put things to a boil to give the Eagles a 4-0 lead and then a minute later....Pat Eaves charges in to give the Eagles a 5-0 lead, you can pretty much give the Eagles a ticket to the second round, they must've thought that Norwich put on BU jerseys out there
DAYTON,OH
Harvard leads Alabama-Huntsville 1-0 after one period of play the ECAC Champions put a lead in the first period after Brendan Bernakevitch took a feed from Ryan Maki and Dennis Packard to put the Crimson on the scoreboard
DENVER,CO
In a stunner thus far, the Findlay Oilers who could very well play its last hockey game lead Colorado College 2-1 after one period. The Oilers struck first blood with a goal by Kris Wiebe getting a power play goal for the 1-0 lead then Marty Sertich with a few minutes left in the period tied it up at 1 but Wiebe struck again off a Tiger miscue on defense to make it a 2-1 lead for the Findlay Oilers

after two periods of play...lets go to our correspondants
MANCHESTER,NH
UMass-Lowell still lead Union 2-0 after two periods of play, the Dutchmen came out in force but Davidson continues to stop every Union shot and the RiverHawks take the lead into the third period.
BUFFALO,NY
Boston College has extended its lead to 8-0 oops I mean 8-1 after a goal by Norwich's Mario Chinelli. The Eagles really mean business here....Pat Eaves got his second goal of the day to make it 6-0, a few minutes later....J.D.Forrest slapped in a power play goal to make it 7-0...Tony Voce deflected a powerplay goal for a 8-0 lead until the Chinelli goal to narrow the BC lead to 8-1
DAYTON,OH
Harvard has opened things up here in Grand Rapids as they lead the Chargers 3-1 after two periods of play. Charlie Johnson put in a rebound for a 2-0 lead for the Crimson. Noah Welch quickly made it 3-0, the Chargers called time out and charged on Dov-Gromit-Morris and managed to put in one goal in Jeremy Schreiber to cut the lead to 3-1.
DENVER,CO
An annoucement came from the Pepsi Arena which stated that Findlay will not have the funds to make it to the next round. This gave the timing for Colorado College to take over...Colin Stuart scored three goals for the first hat trick of the Frozen 64 along with Marty Sertich's second goal of the day and the Tigers lead 5-2 after two periods.

These have five minutes remaining in the first round of Frozen 64
MANCHESTER,NH
UMass-Lowell is maintaining a shutout over Union this time its 4-0 with minutes to go here...Bobby Robins stole a puck deep in the Union zone to make it 3-0 and just a few seconds ago Matt Collar tried to put in a rebound but went off a Union skate to make it 4-0 and it is over...UMass-Lowell advances to the second round.
BUFFALO,NY
Tony Voce got his second goal of the night going top shelf to give the Eagles a 9-1 lead and a few minutes leader Ty Hennes scores off a rebound from a odd shot from Ben Eaves but the Eagles made it 10-1 and it is a final...the Eagles are going to the second round
DAYTON,OH
With five minutes left, Harvard leads Alabama-Huntsville 5-1. Dave McCullogh put in an unassisted goal to put the game towards Harvard's side. McCullogh tried for a second goal put it went off the post and the loose puck was put in Steve Mandes. There is time still left as the Crimson should get plans ready for the second round.
DENVER,CO
Colorado College continuing to gain momentum from the demise of Findlay Hockey now lead 9-2. The Oilers with noone supporting them have continously put in cross-check and interference penalties and have continously on the penalty kill. Trevor Fischman scores a power play goal to make it 6-2 Tigers...on an Oiler power play..Colin Stuart got his fourth goal of the game to make 7-2. Andrew Canzanello gets a power play goal for a 8-2 lead. Lee Sewart gets another power play goal to make it 9-2.

Typical - Union doesn't win a playoff game.
Tell me - did Mayo go the distance, or was he pulled in favor of Roth or Tater?

At the end of one period of play
MANCHESTER,NH
For the majority of the first it was very quiet then it turned into the Luke Fulgham show scoring two goals within 90 seconds while Kevin Ulanski added another goal to give Denver a 3-0 lead after one period over American International. It seems like a methodical ***-whipping right now.
BUFFALO,NY
A very tight checking game with a lot of good hits thus far...as we speak Ferris State just took a 1-0 lead Clarkson, Greg Rallo taking advantage of a power play goal to put the Bulldogs ahead.
DAYTON,OH
Army has rallied at the end of the first period to take a 2-1 lead over Miami. Miami scored early with a nice drive by Matt Christie. Army being the 14 seed has been chippy and laid the law out on some RedHawks, eventually this lead to a Dustin Healey goal, Derek Edwardson took a stupid penalty and that led to a Army's Jon Boyle putting one in to give the Black Knights a 2-1 lead
DENVER,CO
Colin McDonald scored 20 seconds into the game and thats been it thus far as Providence leads Lake Superior 1-0 lead. Reports of gooning and Pooley being fired were known but that one fan quieted down after the McDonald goal.
(editors note....will take a little bit before the second intermission)

At the end of two periods...
MANCHESTER,NH
Things have slowed up a bit, sensing defeat the Yellow Jackets haven't put up a defense or a shot in the second period, in pity Denver only scored one goal, by Lucas Dora and the Pioneers lead 4-0 after two.
BUFFALO,NY
This is a good one here as we would expect out of 8-9 seed it is a 2-2 tie after two periods of play. Nathan Beausoleil put in a rebound to tie the game at 1. A minute later a silly Ferris penalty was given and Clarkson capitalized when Chris Blight took a Mac Faulkner wrist shot into the net to give the Knights a 2-1 lead. Ferris didn't go away though. Mark Bombersback slapped in a power play goal just minutes after the two quick Clarkson goals, its been a tense last ten minutes as we're tied at 2.
DAYTON,OH
Miami got the boost they need seeing star football quarterback Ben Rotheslinger in a sailor outfit, that seemed to motivate the RedHawks as they pounded Army with four second period goals and now lead by a score of 5-2. Todd Grant started the scoring and then Marty Guerin, Derek Edwardson, and Greg Hogeboom followed and this is no longer a close game.
DENVER,CO
Providence now leads Lake Superior by a score of 2-0. Peter Zingoni pounced a rebound early in the second to give the Friars the lead. Beyond that not much going on, but several fights in the stands that the Pepsi Arena Security are having a hard time dealing with, nonetheless its 2-0 PC.

With about five minutes to go in regulation here's what's going on.
MANCHESTER,NH
Not much to report here, Denver has added another goal and leads AIC 5-1. The scoring phenom Andy Walbert put the Yellow Jackets on the board but the Pionners quickly countered with a goal by Jeff Drummond.
BUFFALO,NY
Clarkson has just taken the lead over Ferris State, the Knights lead 3-2. Mac Faulkner netted a powerplay to push the momentum to Clarkson's side, still not over yet though
DAYTON,OH
Miami still going on the momentum from the second period now lead Army 7-2. Marty Guerin and Derek Edwardson have their second goals of the night as this is turning into a laugher.
DENVER,CO
Providence is now rolling over Lake Superior 5-0. Stephen Wood hit a one-timer so sweet that the fans stopped rioting and went in awe. Once rioting continued, Fans barely noticed that Colin McDonald scored a hat trick until it actually happened. Instead of hats on the ice, bras went on the ice instead. It was very unamusing until one of the janitors on the ice put one on himself, then it was amusing.

IT'S OVER for the SORTA EARLY GAMES
DENVER 5 AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL 1
Not much happened afterward just the coaches deciding which are the best bars in Providence to get lap dances. Denver will face UMass-Lowell in the second round.
CLARKSON 5 FERRIS STATE 2 The Bulldogs went continuously with an empty net so the Knights got two empty net goals by Matt Curley and the second goal of the game from Mac Faulkner. Clarkson will face Boston College.
MIAMI 7 ARMY 2
Not much to report but a solemn trumpet playing, Miami will play Harvard in the second round.
PROVIDENCE 5 LAKE SUPERIOR 0
Bobby Goephert gets the shutout and will face Colorado College in the second round.

Definetly dont agree with how the Providence/LSSU game would have turned out. Sure PC probably would have wont but I dont think it would have been 5-0. Lake State finished strong at the end and except for the 4-0 loss to Miami (a VERY good Miami team mind you) every game since the MSU Joe game was a win, tie or one goal loss. That includes a shutout of a tournament bound Notre Dame. I thnik the game would have been closer at this time of year say 3-2 maybe even in OT.

look on the bright side...if you went to the game you might take home one of the female Providence ushers with the white jackets. A loss is a loss but you might take home something to make your day:D
