What is the hold-up with announcing Middlebury as the host of the Women's Frozen Four? The announcement of Norwich as the men's host on Sunday would seem to confirm the widely reported rumor of Middlebury as the women's host. So what are they waiting for?

That link isn't working for me. They posted that right after Friday's game before they could possibly have known they were going to host. I think that article jumped the gun a little.
None of the participants, the NCAA, or USCHO.com have news of a host institution being announced. Is there a problem behind the scenes they're dealing with?

Wouldn't that be a kick in the pants if they gave it to Plattsburgh...
But seriously, I think Kevin Houle said (during a radio interview between periods of the men's quarterfinal game) that the conference call is at 2:00pm.
So, it should be any minute.

I don't know why everyone is assuming Middlebury. They were behind Plattsburgh in the NCAA final poll on March 8th, and they lost to Bowdoin who Platty beat. The number two team was Elmira and Plattsburgh beat them too.
The only thing that I can see in Middlebury's favour (besides a nice facility) is that they beat Plattsburgh in head-to-head twice. However, that is all I see that places them ahead.
I guess we will know soon.

USCHO hockey schedule lists Middlebury as site. Four days to Tourney and times are still TBA. Not good for those making travel plans. To much on the NCAA plate this time of year. I'll be glad when these decisions are made in advance!:D

Read below, times, dates, tickets have already been set up... there is no more waiting its all done.
And by the way Hockeydude, Plattsburgh was behind Middlebury in the last ranking. #1Mville #2 Midd #3PSU....Mville cant host, so next in line is Midd....its all done by criteria as the PSU men found out.

Hmmm. Not according to the NCAA website- that's where I found the poll...
Here is the URL:

Oh well, sounds like it is decided anyway. Nice facility, just a farther drive.

Thats USCHO, not NCAA which is what they use.
NCAA ranks #1 Mville #2 Midd #3PSU
USCHO is a fan based sort of poll not the official.
The real poll:

is there anyway to get a tape of these games? Either team quality, or homemade? Due to our hockey schedule during the season, we have found it impossible to manage to see these top tier D3 teams, and we are still working towards our quest of finding the right level team for our daughter. I would be happy to remiburse anyone for any costs this might involve, and we would sure like to see these top D3 teams in action.
Hoping someone has some input on this...

As a note:
AD Russ Reilly at Middlebury was extended the offer to host the women's Final Four immediately following the game against Elmira - this is printed in yesterday's Burlington Free Press - which is why Middlebury made the announcement immediately following the game in the release. They were correct in putting it out there, for some reason the NCAA just screwed around, maybe because they knew that it put the men's field into a weird position because Middlebury would've/should've hosted that as well, or maybe because they thought Middlebury still had a chance of working something out to be able to host both.
Notes for everyone - I don't see how you could rank Plattsburgh ahead of Middlebury considering the Panthers took the head-to-head 2-0.
Another note - you will not visit a finer DIII rink than Middlebury's Kenyon Arena, have no doubt. It's a beautiful facility, and while the womens' team draws a decent crowd (usually about 400-500 a game I think), I'm hoping that this weekend there will be enough fans there that it will feel like there is some good energy in the stands. When I was a student there was a group of us, mostly friends with girls on the team, who went to a lot of games, did cheers, sang the fight song, etc., but I don't think many students do that anymore, esp. since the college will be on break this weekend (so Middlebury will feel like a ghost town, not too many "Muffy and Trevors" around).
Re: a Web cast, this will be interesting. The college radio station normally broadcasts games over the Web, both men and women, but since Middlebury is on break, the radio station does not operate. WFAD will almost certainly be doing the men's games, which are at the same time, and they don't Web cast. So I am not sure what's going to happen with that...

There is no doubt in our minds that Middlebury has a beautiful facility in fact probably the nicest, and the surrounding area, other than the fact that there is very little in accommodation. I suppose Burlington would be the closest. Lets look at Manhattanville, seeded first and has to travel 4.5 hrs. Home ice has the advantage look at Elmira the past couple of years and look at Middlebury & Plattsburgh last weekend on home ice, could have but probably wasn't but could have been the deciding factor in their wins respectively. I do think Manhattanville with the bye earned it but they were also seeded number one. It would have been nice to host as well. You work hard all year to finish number one and have the chance of hosting. Plattsburgh is what, an hour down the road. I am assuming Stevens point will fly in. A 20 hour drive would do them in. Anyway looking forward to a beautiful new venue, new teams for the most part and an exciting weekend. Middlebury has classy fans I must admitt. Vermonters-what can I say..

If you haven't been to the Kenyon Arena yet, and you're going this weekend, enjoy every minute of it. It's absolutely beautiful. It is, to me at least, what every facility should be if money weren't an option.
Middlebury got lucky. They got an alumnus who hit it big in the Chicago trading and donated 19million dollars to fund the facility. I wish every Div. III campus could get that lucky.
This isn't a slam on Middlebury, Chip Kenyon or anyone else. It happens. If I were a Middlebury backer, player or student, I would be **** proud to call the Kenyon my home ice.
Also, make sure you try the mini-pizzas..They're excellent...I stress the plural on this one because I had a couple of them...:)

Manhattanville did NOT meet the requirements to be able to host.
They had no choice but to give it to the next ranked team.

I know that someone at Middlebury tapes every home women's hockey game. I don't know if it's done by the athletics dept or the local community TV. I'd suggest that you send an e-mail to the Midd athletics dept (check the Middlebury web site for contact info) and see if you can get an answer. I'd wait until after this weekend. They're kind of busy right now.

By the way, I would be remiss if I didn't say to those going to Middlebury this weekend that if you were looking for a great sandwich, try Noonie's in the Marble Works complex. You do not need the sub, a sandwich is plenty large and the bread selection is great. IMHO it is the best sandwich in the State of Vermont.

I plan on being at both Middlebury Women's games this weekend (yes, I am optimistic!). Will have cell phone with text and pix capability, so if there are no webcasts or other updates, I'd be more than willing to keep someone with web access updated.
