Saw him play in San Jose last night. He got pulled in the third period. He still makes a lot of mistakes you think he would have overcome by now.

Well ... that game was the exception rather than the rule. Kudos to Stirling for starting him the next night and sticking with him down the stretch. He's settled down nicely since being assured that he's the number one goalie. Yes, he still makes some mistakes, but the Isles' defense has become more adept at covering for him, so his occassional faux pas usually don't burn him.

Dipietro started 10 straight games until tonight when the team headed to Philly (where Aucoin had 2 goals, including one from center ice) and he stayed behind on the Island with the flu. Also, as it looks like the Islanders will grab the #8 spot in the east, Ricky will most likely be the starter for his first NHL playoffs. :D
