right now i would say UND has the best shot followed by UMD.

my guess is it could be WI or UND. UMD is losing a lot of seniors.

UND is losing only 3 seniors, and only lundbohm is up there in points. Plus we're gettin a very strong class the next couple of years. I have a feeling next year UND we'll be even better than they are this year!!!

I gotta agree with you. Deano even said that next year is the year for the championship run, so this year is kind of a bonus to us thus far.

I've seen stranger things. A monkey riding a dog at a rodeo, my face, hockey cheerleaders...

?????? Lessard, Unkelsbay, Geisler, Hardwick. Ya thats some firepower to be lost, but they still retain enough to get the job done. Trust me. They'll be in the thick of it this year. I'd be willing to say them, NoDak, and Wisconsin will all be there. I think Minnie will lose Vanek and Ballard which will just put them a hair under their normal high power teams, IMO. But to lose four players and say that they won't be there, come on.

I think you underestimate how much these 4 players meant to UMD's success over the last season or two.

Junior Lessard won the hobey baker, he led the nation in points. I dont care what team he's on, it will hurt to lose him. Assuming Caig, Stapleton, Schwabe and Stauffacher will return, UMD is still one of the better offensive teams of the league, however, the loss of Hardwick and Geisler is going to leave a big hole in UMD's defense. Unless Hambly, Petruic, and Czech step up their play to another level, Duluth could be hurting early next season, especially if Reichmuth slips into his slump again. IMO, Duluth will be a much better team at the end of the season than at the beginning (similar to minnesota's situation on defense last season), which will keep them out of the race for the McNaughton, but more than likely, they will be in the fight come tournament time. Never count out Sandy...

CC will deffinately be very competitive for this. Only 2 lost seniors. Entire returning roster. 2 argueabally of the best goalies in the NCAA

Minnesota is losing 3 guys (four if Vanek leaves). I think Minnesota will have a harder time absorbing the loss of Vanek, Ballard, Riddle and Koalska than UMD will losing Lessard, Geisler, Hardwick and Unkelsby.

I'm certainly not surprised. Everyone was going on last years results and expecting certain teams to be amazing...and well, they just aren't. Another reason I thought SCSU had a chance at top 5. :)
