Apparently Middlebury won a couple comparisons against other teams that Plattsburgh didn't win against

Its too bad the fact that Middlebury beat Plattsburgh twice doesn't count!

Simply because Plattsburgh wins the criteria straight up doesn't mean that in the mind of a rankings committee, they would be ranked more highly. Remember, the criteria are objective, but the weighting of each is subjective. In this case, it could be that the committee decided that the head-to-head comparison, which Middlebury won 2-0, was pretty significant, and that tipped things in their favor.

i'm sure....head to head would be 1st

Cards4life has a valid point, regardless of the head-to head comparison. Plattsburgh should be the top team with the win in the direct comparison with Middlebury, no comparison loses against NCAA eastern regionally ranked teams, and the fact that Middlebury ties with Manhattanville. Assuming the USCHO calculations are correct, seems like a good case has been made for Plattsburgh. The head-to-head point seems insufficient as last year on the D-III men's side, Superior handled River Falls during the regular season and the NCHA tournament, but Falls won the criteria comparison and went to the NCAA tourney while Superior stayed home. This year on the women's side, Superior Ladyjackets won the head-to-head against Stevens Point, but Point is likely to go as the criteria comparison winner.
Seems that in the past at all division levels, the NCAA committees have stuck to their objective criteria that is fine-tuned each year when making the final tournament bracket decisions. The subjective element is necessary to allow for equitable decisions in extraordinary circumstances. However, in this situation it seems that 'politics' or something else is holding court.
I know that Middlebury beat, while Plattsburgh tied, Stevens Point, that Middlebury swept a home & home against Plattsburgh, and that Middlebury lost to lesser ranked teams than Plattsburgh (Bowdoin and Elmira both in Middlebury). Any different takes other than the head-to-head argument? If Russell Jaslow reads this, how about an article with your take before the official announcement on Sunday?

If you look at the pairwise and also the ratings percentage index...then you add to that the h2h comparison
Plattsburgh is ahead in all 3 categories
and deserves the #1 poll rank
even tho i will still vote for Manhattanville in the fan poll:)
