Umass Boston will have absolutely no problem beating Manhattanville, If I am correct Manhattanvilles only conference lost came at the hands of RPI, who coincidentally Umass beat convincingly 3-1. Melissa Belmonte and Andrea Ciarletta have more points combined than the top three or four scorers on Manhattanville and they will not be shut down by them. Umass is a more physical team, smarter, and they have nothing to lose. So if anyone wants to see an unbelievable championship game be there on Sunday to watch Umass beat RPI 2-0 on Sunday

This isn't really the "Miracel On Ice." Lets be serious here. If I'm not mistaken, the Manhattanville team beat UMass Boston, not once, but twice, and each game was "11-1". If my calculations are correct, that is a 22 goals for differential and 2 goals against.

ummm okay:rolleyes:
sure Umass-Boston has had a great rookie season but its fans like you that are gonna give the Lady beacons a bad name and make people not like Umass-Boston when they come up on the board....
If Manhattanville loses to Umass-Boston ill run my 800 leg of the 3200 relay this weekend and the New York State Championship stark nude:eek:   :)

UMB is respectable but let's not go overboard - 22-2 against Manhattanville, against anyone, is nothing to be proud of. A respectable game against RPI, sure, but predicting a UMB title is going a bit far. Barring a major upset in either game it will be RPI/Manhattanville on Sunday.

Not something I relish visualizing....though it does give me pause to consider rooting for UMB:)

Just one quick question for everyone, Manhattanville finished 16-1 in the conference, that only loss coming against RPI, who Umass beat. And also this is D3 women's hockey, u all make it seem like a pro versus high school team, u will all be surprised

Degrees of winning don't impress many people on this message board. RPI is the only team that at least tied Clarkson this year, and they're 9th in the nation while each of the top four teams lost to Clarkson. But, that doesn't seem to matter to most people.

because D1 games dont matter!!! how many times must this be repeated?? Do you ever see the pollsters have d1 games affect their decisions?? exactly...D1 games DO NOT MATTER...

Just a question, for arguements sake, lets say RPI were to take on Clarkson and beat them 4-2.
Then say Elmira played Team Canada and beat them 2-1 somehow. It obviously doesnt matter, considering Team Canada isnt even involved with the NCAA.
But when determining how good a team is, dont you think you have to take it into consideration. Im not saying make a decision involving who goes to the NCAA's but just to simply judge how good a team is.
Be realistic, not picking on you personally, you just happen to be the one who posted this last, if Elmira had beaten all the D1 teams they played this season you cant tell me you wouldnt use those games in every arguement for the past 3 months. Not saying it would be a bad thing. But be realistic. In detemrining how good a team is, with RPI its not like they beat Clarkson and tanked the rest of the season away. They beat some pretty good teams.
IMHO RPI is extremely underrated and have improved dramatically since the beginning of the season.
Overlook them if you choose, but dont say I didnt warn you. You think Utica is tough? RPI is a lot better. And barring a total collapse, they will be in the NCAA's assuming the NCAA goes by the numbers, as they have the tie breaker with Bowdoin.

So does that mean that I and others can't use games against D1 teams in formulate our own opinions? Check your swastica at the door P&G, this is not your dictatorship. I was just making a point about the UMass matchup with Manhattanville and RPI post, I don't remember anyone mentioning polls.

NEC over RPI would be an upset but not a major one. However, if NEC wins two of the three meetings which would be the upset?;)

Must be they didn't play in the regular season contests with M-ville.

hmm...i wonder if that would anything to do with umass playing the easiest schedule of all eastern teams...and Mville playing the tuffest of all eastern teams
OR....would it be....Mville playes 4 lines most games....and those 2 play every other shift ??

Hopefully this is adding a little perspective...
While both Belmonte and Ciarletta are undeniably good players (and UMB is no cakewalk of a team) if you take a closer look at their scoring both have more than 50% of their goals vs. teams with records under (mostly WELL under) .500
Ciarletta- 35 of 56 points on the season were against such teams
Belmonte- 38 of 53 points on the season against such teams.
As I said before, these two are truly good players and are more than capable of scoring against teams that do have better records than that...but let's not get too carried away with the strict numbers...
I'll give them one thing though...if they (as a team) play anything like they did the few times I saw them this year, they will give M'ville some trouble...especially if the Valiants are looking past them to Sunday.

u all are mistaken, both belmonte and ciarletta scored against manhattanville, and belmonte had 4 goals against holy cross, 3 against rpi,and 4 against rit on the road in a playoff game three teams well over .500, there is no point in arguing sunday u will all see when umb is crowned champs

CONSIDERING ITS THE PLAYOFFS... I WOULD THINK BOTH TEAMS WILL BE READY TO PLAY AND WILL BE PREPARED FOR EACH OTHER
HOPEFULLY IT WILL BE A GREAT GAME TO WATCH

Since I am going to be in the area of Playland this weekend, have you any suggestions on restaurants, etc. in the area? Primarily thinking Italian or steaks.

Try the Rye Bar and Grill for steaks (near the Rye train station), or Eclisse (sp?) for GOOD italian food.
