Crawford's call of the game certainly did accurately portray what the Laker's were up against. It was most frustrating that to hear the SOG throughout the play. But, as redhawkman said, the Redhawk's forced the Laker's to play so bad. Hopefully Frank can make the necessary adjustments tonight and keep the Laker's IN the game.
GO LAKERS!!! It ain't over till it's over!

i agree jakiatis had nothing to do with the loss....he let in 4 goals on 30 shots...not to bad if u ask me....violin played very well as well....made all 16 saves, including a dandy when he sliped and left an open net but came back to make a diving glove save on kompon....anzalone is a great coach and i dont doubt he's in the hotel right now trying to figure out how to make something happen.....whatever they do they have to break double digits in the shot department...that was just embarrasing to watch for them....if miami keeps their legs moving and thier physical forecheck i dont think their is anything lake st can do, but get a ice bag for their goaltenders back for trying to carry them....hopefully it will be a better game tonight and the 10-15 laker supporters will have something to cheer for...

Great job by the Hawks last night. Last year when Lake was here, MU won like 7-1 Friday and Saturday was a war and nail-bitter. I expect the same tonight. Hawkman was right about "playing with the puck." One too many toe drags by Miami in a couple of situations for my taste.
Hey Hawkman, I am going to enjoy watching Guerin for three more years, eh, and Kompon and Hogey have looked real good the last couple of weeks. Also, good to see Edwardson pile up some points again, not that there is ever any reason to worry about him, he contributes in many ways.

red....im glad we got him for three more years...hopefully blasi keeps him with christie.....but i think geurin tried to get to cute last night....didnt move the puck tried to do a lot himself...although he is able to he needs to move it around and create more opportunities....i think another guy im glad to have well actually a couple..is cooper, nelson, and smith.....nelson has improved tremendously playing with hogeboom and kompon.....and cooper is just a work horse.....also how about the play from taylor huestead last night...thought he did a great job on the forecheck.....it could be a battle tonight but i tell you lake st. has a lot to change if they want to make it a battle....
redeagle...i dont know where u sit, i have my ideas but ill be standing in the conner in front of the student section.....my favorite spot u can see everything from there..stop down and say hi, id like to meet you.....
also i thought aaron did a great officiating job last night...he let the teams play and it didnt get too out of hand...key word "too" there was a lot of chirping late and i have a feeling tonight might get ugly....

RedHawkman,
Agree about Huestad, he has flashes of brilliance but does not bring it consistently, IMHO. The potential is there and we'll need it next year. I also like the character/work ethic of Nelson, Cooper, and Smith.
I'll look for you. I'm in the top row, red line--best seat in the house, where all the old people that have had season tickets since the beginning are. :) If you played when Rico was helping out with OYH, we probably already know each other--I've been coaching in Oxford for 22 years. Been great having you here.
With respect to the chirping, I think Frank is trying to manufacture a little more emotion from his boys--probably a smart move.

oh i agree.....he showed some emotion there in the second, and seemed like he tried to light a fire under their ***...didnt work too well....and i played with taylor a few years back...he is a physical pressence that miami needs...and he has some great hands too....as to nelson, cooper, and smith...they add to the excitement...all three are grity players who move the puck well....how about that move smith put on in the third just to drop it back to i think michael....impressed the hell out of me...
and yea i played till i was a bantam when blasi, savage, bergeron and them played....got pictures of me when i was younger with blasi and bergeron....i played with bill davadges son robbie.....we had some good teams....only oxford team to win silver sticks....

Hawkman,
Now I'm guessing. I'll see you tonight. You'll be surprised if you haven't figured it out.

great game last night lakers...you should be very proud of your boys...they came out and did all the could against a superior team....jakaitis stood on his head making great save after great save.....lakers hung tough and applied more preasure...but in the end miami was just too much.....dont be to ashamed with a great goaltender like that and i think i counted 11 underclassmen.....the future is very bright up at the soo....with a great coach, you guys will be heard from next year....

After listening to last night's game, it was apparent that the Laker's were IN the game ... and with the OT period, it seemed that it could go either way. Jakaitis sounded phenominal. I do believe good things are in store for the Laker's next year.
Congratulations to the boys on a much improved season. It's always sad as another one draws to a close. Ugh. Now we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed, get the rabbit's foot out and pray to the hockey karma gods that Michigan doesn't win the CCHA title.

yea they were in the game...they did play better...but it was clear they didnt have what it too to play with miami...the future is very VERY bright for the lakers....with jakaitis only a freshman they will be in good hands....one of the kodak moments was right after the game winner went in, adamek stood there looked up at the ceiling and said "are you *****in kidding me" thats how the night went for lake st.....they played extremely hard all night and got great goaltending but miami was just too much, they were buzzing most of the night especially in the third and overtime....keep your head's up lakers you will be fighting for a home playoff spot next year....

If that bounce goes the Lakers way, we'll have a game three, and then you never can tell........
Well this is what I said last week. Too bad the bounce didn't go our way in OT.
I am still very optimistic about next year. It doesn't sound like we have any blue chip scorers coming in, but hopefully some of the freshman can step up the goal scoring. Remember Mark Vermette only had 3 goals as a freshman! :)
Oh well. Welcome to the off season!

Well, another season gone and what now,8 years since we have played down at the Joe?.As long as its been since we have played in the CCHA playoffs at the Joe,I do believe the day when we will be back is much closer then the time it has been since we have been away.Crawford keeps saying that the players coming in next year are very good players and with what we have now, says the Lakers are going tobe a much better team then we have seen in a long time.Lets hope he is right and enjoy the season off everyone.See you in the fall.
Yes, I also heard Bill C say that the guys coming in next season are good players. I'm inclined to think that Derek Snith (#2) is probably a defenseman that is more offensive minded and with good wheels; at least his Junior stats are good for a defenseman. The stats for the two forwards, Kasper and Eves, are OK but nothing that stands out. Perhaps they are guys that will bump up the team speed somewhat and/or can handle the puck well? I haven't heard anything specific about what the coaching staff likes about them, so I'm just speculating here. Eves is pretty young, so there must be something they see in him that they really like. Still don't know who the fourth guy is that has committed for next season, or even whether he is a forward or defenseman. My guess would be a forward since scoring is where they need the most help. And of course they may sign another guy or two along the way. I'm not sure how they are sitting from a scholarship availability(even partial) perspective.

Look at WMU.....with the players they have.....they have not been to the Joe in 10 years! Lake State will be back to the Joe before them.

I heard Bill Crawford say (at least I think it was Bill C.) that they are looking at a recruit who was intent on going to Findlay. Anyone know anything about this?

OK, well I'm the newbie here, and maybe you guys pack it in and don't post during the off season, but I was depressed when I saw the LSSU thread had slipped to the third page, so I had to think of something to talk about........
Here's a bright note. Our recruit Kris Kasper had a three point night and was player of the game for his Junior team in a second round playoff series.
http://www.oilbarons.com/index.php
Looks like he has been a point per game guy in JRs. I realize that doesn't necessarily translate well to the NCAA, but it seems positive that he is having a good playoff run. Looks like a nice gritty kid.
Anybody else get the Hockey News? There was an article about "Who will replace Ritcher as Team USA goalie?" They had a few paragraghs talking about John Grahames chances. I've always been suprised that of all the Lakers goalies, he was the one who seems to have stuck at the higher level.
I'm swallowing my pride and cheering for the other UP School this weekend. Let's go Northern!
For Mogerfan, Kasper split his season between Humbolt in the SJHL and Ft McMurray in the AJHL. His numbers are OK, but nothing that stands out. Makes me kind of wonder if he has good speed and/or puck handling skills, and if that's why the Lakers are interested in him. Those are areas they need to upgrade as a team. From his numbers alone, he's obviously not a blue chip player, but there must be something about him that the Laker's coaching staff likes. Could also be that he's a sparkplug type guy who can be a leader for the Lakers.
We don't all pack it in for the summer, but posting certainly does drop off once the season ends. And we don't have the fan base of the bigger schools, so there aren't as many Laker posters to begin with.
For Midge, I haven't heard anything about a potential Findlay recruit that could be headed to the Lakers instead. But that certainly sounds reasonable.
The current mystery still seems to be who is the 4th guy who has committed (verbally) to the Lakers for next year. I don't think it is the guy that originally intended to sign with Findlay.
On a Soo related hockey note, I see that the Soo tribe has changed their mind and has decided to keep sponsoring the Soo Jr Indians next season. Good for them. Lets hope it stays that way.

Yeah, thats a good place to recruit from (the Indians) we have a few players who played for them in the past currently on the team.
