I was reading the MI/MI State score updates last night and one of the State fans ask the question ......gees,I wonder if the Lakers are missing the Nightengales now?.But true to form I responded...nah...not at all. I believe Jakaitis is leading the league now in goals against and save per-centage after last nights game. Its starting to get fun again listening and watching Laker hockey because I believe we are seeing Anzalone hockey being played as only he can coach it. Ok,quick question. Now that the season is just about over, how are the players enjoying playing at Lake Sate and for Frank and his coaching staff? Has to be someone on this thread who has contact with the team.Let us know............thanks

there could have been a lot of whistles.. there were a few blatent interferences (i recall one in the first period i believe, where a ND staker dove into our guys feet as he was going for the puck) but other than that...

I was reading through the unofficial USCHO newbie guide, and i found this:

15. Northeastern, Providence and Notre Dame fans will do little else then complain about their coaching. It is believed that all 3 schools will fire their coaches on the same day, and all will rejoice. Until the coaches sign with another of the three.

In light of the recent posts in here, how great is that?

Since Wilkens was the ref, this probably means about 15 penalties tonight.

Congrats Lakers, hope you finish off the sweep and keep the Irish on the ropes.

Francis Anzalone was going to talk to Jim Roque about recruiting between the first and second periods tonight, and instead Bill C came on and talked to Mark St Angelo about Lakers women's basketball. Anyone know what was up with that? Did Jim Roque change his mind? Did Bill catch word of it and not want Jim talking about Laker recruiting on air?

No,I just think the girls done great, had a great season and a great night and they deserved the air time to have someone blow their horn. I think it is great they won it all and Crawford is the AD up there and gives him a chance to advertise the great program the ladies have there.More power to you ladies.Great season and great win.

In one of the closed down LSSU threads (man you guys post a lot) after the ND-LSSU series in South Bend I posted that I didn't think in another 2 years LSSU would still be a bottom feeder in the CCHA. I think after this weekend I believe that even more. You guys certainly have a keeper in that freshman goalie, and Lake State was one of the better (maybe best) disciplined teams to skate into the Joyce this year. They totally outplayed ND in the OT tie, and obviously outplayed ND last night before falling in a nail-biter tonight. One of the neat things about college hockey is how some of the small schools like those in the UP have had such huge success in college hockey. I have been hoping for a Lake State turn-around after the horrible years with Borek. I see some real glimmers there. Heck, I'd trade you guys coaches in a heart beat.

Good luck next week.

I am not denying that the girls teams are good.. they are. I am a huge fan... thats why i was late to both of the hockey games this weekend. Right now, I am currently looking for ways to get some money for myself so i can drive to Quincy, if the regional is there (However, if Quincy loses, it will be at lssu, which would be very cool.. as an update, Quincy is tied at the half).

But the point is that its a hockey show. Would you be annoyed if you were watching an NHL game on TV, and they were supposed to do a special report on, say, doug weight.. and instead, they decided to do a piece on LeBraun James? I think i would be.

Besides, there are two period breaks.. i don't think making bill wait til the second intermission to talk about the girls would have any huge effect on the girls b-ball team as a whole.

Bill C's task seems to be to find enough hotel rooms in town for the possible women's regional if Qunicy loses. Evidently there are some hockey tournaments going on in the Soo next weekend and he is having a tough time finding blocks of rooms for eight womens teams and fans. If he isn't successful with that, then the women's NCAA regional will not be in the Soo even if Quincy loses.

Well, one cannot fabricate enough hotel rooms on such short notice IF there is already a hockey tournament in town. Knowing what a tough task this is, I would say that the hockey tournament wins and the NCAA womens regional loses.

Good luck next weekend Lakers. We all know Miami is a bunch of posers and never has anything in the postseason. Take it to them, and earn yourselves a trip to the Joe.

eddo,

Bill C said the women's Great Lakes regional would be in Quincy if they won this weekend. I guess it goes by NCAA ranking.

as far as i understand, it does go to the top ranked team in the region.. but we don't know if the regional rankings will change (currently, lssu is 2, quincy is 1).. Quincy beat the number 4 team in the region.. but lssu beat the number 3, and by a bigger margin.. LSSU has the same number of wins as Quincy, but has a better winning percentage.. so its still really anybodies game at this point.

Ok, but I don't see Quincy falling below the Lakers in the rankings. I don't think Bill C expects that either.

For the Lakers to have a chance at Miami, I think they almost have to win the first game. If they can play a strong first game and sqeak out a W, I think that will make them realize that, "hey we can win this series". If they don't win the first game, it will be awful tough for them to take two straight. Either way, Jakaitis is going to have to play very strong in net. And scoring first in the games and getting the lead is going to be very critical to their chances.
