Thanks, just poor writing I guess. Knee surgery can mean various things, from just cleaning out torn cartilage to repairing ligaments or other structural work. Recovery times can really vary due to this.

Hey folks don't know if any of you remember Rob Valicevic but he has been in the news quite a bit the last few months.

Here is a link to an article today:

When I was leaving the game tonight everyone was saying only good things. :) Which is great for a change . Now if they could only score, they would be dangerous.

Yeah, it was an amazing game. And we were on the upside of the SOG. I can't quite figure out WHY some of those didn't go in. Almost seems like bad luck, as many plays were set up well.

In any case, the Lakers played VERY WELL against OSU. The low SOG (overall) would indicate that we played very good defense. I was very displeased with Ryan Reid's penalty in the last minutes of the game - seemed needless.

Its nice to see they played a good game but the lack of scoring in the end is just killing us.Lets hope tonight they can get a win and stay in the hunt for home ice.

I only heard bits and pieces of the game on the Web broadcast. Yes it was nice to hear how good they played in stretches, even dominating play, and they even outshot the Bucks. But I have to be honest. Moral victories don't do much for me at this point. The bottom line hasn't changed; they still can't score. After being more respectable earlier in the CCHA season, they've now dropped back down to next to last in goals per game and next to last in pp percentage. On the plus side, the improvement in the penalty kill percentage seems to be holding together; that was terrible last season.

Agree about Ryan Reid's penalty, assuming it was legitimate (I wasn't there to see). I think he should be benched tonight.

My thoughts exactly.

It's been pretty quiet on the recruiting front for a while. I know they are out looking for a goalie to replace Matt Violin. I would like to see them bring in one more forward with some scoring punch. Also expect they are looking for one more defenseman, although that isn't as much a priority now that they have Birkeland and Adamek back.

Of the two centers they are bringing in next season, my impression is that Schwab is more of a playmaker than a scorer, which is fine with me because they do need someone like that as long as he is a good skater and stick handler. Sim seems to be more balanced on scoring and playmaking.

Its always the same in the end. They played some very good hockey but couldnt score enough and it cost them the weekend. The Lakers are in dire need of forwards who can stick handle, shoot and score.Bill you made the remark you are already looking forward to next season a bit ago,I agree.Frank, you need an offense. Without some players who know how to score when the chances are there.the bottom tier is will your team will always be and yes we know you know this.Get your recruiters out and bring home that offense.

On the pre-game show last night, Frank pretty much expressed his disappointment with the lack of consistency from the junior and sophomore classes, without naming names. He feels they don't work hard every game, and that is at least partially to blame for their failure to develop more as scorers.

I think it is very important that they start scoring more goals by next season, both from the incoming recruits and from the returning upperclassmen. They will have a large senior class next season and if the team doesn't start establishing more of an offensive presence and consistency by then, then the season after next may almost be like starting from scratch again because they will have to bring in a ton of recruits and hope several of them pay off.

At least the on ice effort has been better the past 5 games. Even if they could start scoring just a few more goals, it should translate into some more wins as the season winds down.

I guess the bottom line is if MI Tech which has been on the bottom for so long no one even remembers when they were a powerhouse can have 7 players in double figures for points on the season and four of them over 20 points so far and Lake State has only 3 players in double figures for points and not one over 15 makes you believe that if a program like Tech can recruit players who can score, then Lake State should be able to also. The question becomes when will we?

Don't forget, they got a new coach two years ago.

I agree that next year will be huge. After this years Juniors leave, we will again be back to a very young team, and unless one or two of this years sophomores breaks out or we get some talented recruits, we could be back to square one the year after next.

I am trying to follow next years class as closely as I can. Schwab does look like a good set up man and Sim can find the back of the net at the Junior A level. Schwab has the most points per game and Sim has the most goals per game in their league. They look like they are the most dangerous linemates in the SJHL. However their team has struggled lately and they have fallen out of the top 15 CJAHL teams. They have four more regular season games left, then they start the playoffs.

Still though, the Lakers seem to be working hard and this year isn't over. There is no reason we can't get at least one win against each remaining team and end out with double digit CCHA wins this year. Even if the hope of home ice is fading a bit, they are still playing competitve hockey most nights and we won't have to travel to a top seed's home ice for a change.

Sad to say it, but I really don't expect next years team to be any better than this years team.

That's a shock. Like they say, only the good die young.
I'll never forget his senior year--he seemed to evolve from being a role player for three years to putting up some impressive offensive numbers in 90-91.
Anybody know if the team is planning on doing anything as a memorial?
