Hey, Happy Birthday eddo.
Did the Compass say anything interesting on the dismissal of the players on Friday? They STILL haven't updated their website.

Contois honored by CCHA
FARMINGTON HILLS - For the second week in a row, Andrew Contois of Northern Michigan University is the Central Collegiate Hockey Association's Offensive Player of the Week.
The junior forward from Marquette recorded two assists in Friday's 3-2 over UNO and added a goal and three helpers in Saturday's 6-3 victory. Contois was a plus 6 on the weekend.
Contois leads the Wildcats in scoring with seven goals and 10 assists for 17 points. He's a plus 11 Contois is also fourth in the conference in CCHA games in scoring (6-9-15), tied for fifth in assists and tied for eighth in goals
The CCHA Defenseman of the Week is Brandon Rogers of the University of Michigan. The senior from Rochester, N.H., scored in Friday's 6-1 win over Notre Dame and added a career-high three assists in Saturday's 8-0 road victory over the Irish.
The CCHA Goaltender of the Week is Dave Caruso of Ohio State University. He's a junior from Roswell, Ga. Caruso blocked 58-of-61 shots (.951) -including a career-best 37 on Saturday - as the Buckeyes improved to 7-0-0 at home this season with a sweep of Alaska Fairbanks.
The CCHA Rookie of the Week is Kevin Porter of the University of Michigan. The freshman from Northville (2-3-5, plus 3) had an assist in Friday's 6-1 win over Notre Dame before recording his first four-point game - with a goal and three assists -in Saturday's 8-0 road victory over the Irish.
With the depleted defense corps, I think it forces Frank to have the forwards stay back and help out the defense more than he would like to. Unfortunately that makes it even harder to get the offense going, and offense has been the biggest problem for many years now. And has already been mentioned, the situation on defense also forces the Lakers to shift some of their recruiting emphasis and that's where this is really hurting.

Yeah, that the dismissals were the result of TEAM rules being broken, not University rules.

The players that broke the team rules make you wonder how severe it was. Bowling Green had that horrible hazing incident and those players were put on suspension but not booted off the team. Was the punishment much to severe or did these players have repeat violations of team rules....Food for thought

I left my tapes of the 1992 and 1994 Finals games back home, and they got taped over. I can't believe I left them there and that happened. I was wondering if anyone would be so nice as to replace them for me. I will pay for the cost of the VHS and shipping or if you are in the Soo I will there for about a week over Christmas break and can pick them up in person if that works for you.
If anyone has the 1988 game or the 1993 game (ugh) on tape I would also like those...
Thank you - and it sucks being here in East Lansing - it's so hard to root for the team because I grew up hating them my entire childhood, even though I go to school at MSU.

I think this is going to be a dead issue, the people who know definately aren't talking on here.
lakersparty, You might want to check with the alumni office, I know they have copys. They should think about puting them on DVD though, those old VHS tapes don't last forever.
What does everyone think about the fact that Mattie V isn't making the road trip (I saw him this afternoon, and the website said he was staying..)?
Does anyone think willie might see some ice time this weekend?

Does anyone think willie might see some ice time this weekend?Highly doubtful, IMO.
I guess groin pulls take some time to heal.

Oops! I stand corrected .... Matt V.'s issue is a knee problem. Hopefully he heals up soon.

I hate that. The same thing happened when I left my copy of the '93 semifinal v. Michigan at my parents' house. My copy of the '93 title game survived, though. If you don't mind the source ;) , I could hook you up with a copy. I'd still check with your alumni groups, though, as mine is starting to show its age :(

Got this from a friend this morning.

"three reported sexual assault cases" I assume they are talking about the campus and not the hockey team here. Poorly written article either way.
It looks like the Lakers have a verbal commitment from a defenseman for next season. I'm sure there will be more.
This is from the SJHL web site:
The Lake Superior Lakers of the NCAA have announced a third SJHL recruit to their 2005-06 roster.
1985 born defenseman Matt Wheeler of the Weyburn Red Wings has joined Kindersley forwards Troy Schwab and Josh Sim as future members of the program.
Wheeler is a physical defenseman who scored one goal and thirteen assists in 55-games last season. He had 139-penalty minutes. This season, Wheeler has 4-goals and 2-assists in 25-games. He also has 112-penalty minutes.
The 6'2", 205 Ibs native of Arcola appears to be the type of player Head Coach Frank Anzalone is looking for. "Wheeler is a big, strong defenseman with a really good shot. All of the recruits skate well, and they all contribute to their teams' success. They all play with some jam - they exhibit grit and determination. Those are attributes that we really need."

Doesn't look like the solution to the Lakers scoring problem.
No it isn't, but unfortunately they also now have a depth problem at defense which needs to be addressed, and this is the start of that.

FYI ... forward Troy Schwab is currently leading the SJHL in scoring. This could be good news for the Laker's.

OOHH SAD...poor Dominic...I hope everyone has him in their thoughts and prayers! That is really really tragic. Our team is already hurting, but with another player out for a serious problem, it's going to be an interseting game, Reid back on the lineup as well. We'll have to see how this one plays out.
Praying that everything goes well in Detroit for Dom tonight!!
GO LAKERS!!!!
