Another recruit gone assunder. Obviously, whatever act the kid committed himself or whether it was guilt by association that got him booted off the team...one should be willing to be humble about the situation... but now to hear that the kid is glad to be out of there and has pointed the blame squarely on the head coach's character. Even if there was a question of a coach's demeanor....is that worth blowing a scholarship and walking away from your teammates?
It stands to reason that someone in Nogatch's situation would try to place blame elsewhere, i.e. the coach - his character and demeanor. This is what most immature, whiney little hockey brats WOULD do. It's happened in the past, and I'm sure this won't be the last time.

You're right BluelineDad, it's too bad he couldn't just be humble about the situation.

Everything I've heard about this kid's attitude.....falls in line with exactly what you said michiganmidge...and you can throw in a tablespoon or 2 of arrogance. A kid with all the smarts but...

It's happened in the past, and I'm sure this won't be the last time.

From now....as long as it's a long time :)

So what happened exactly? Another player butting heads with Frank? I missed the pre-game and dont know if there was any explaination...

I can see nagatch butting heads with frank and being benched, but losing your scholarship over something like that.....so my guess would be that something that could not be tolerated off the ice had to happen

Yes it was an off ice incident according to jnacc who quoted the Sault Star article. Hey jnacc...do you have a link to the article in the Sault Star?

HOLD THE PHONE! Crawford illuded to THREE players being dismissed, and I checked the roster online, and not only is Nogatch gone, but MARK ADAMEK and BARNABAS BIRKELAND are also off the list! WHAT THE HELL?!?!?!?

THREE DEFENSEMEN? WHAT IS GOING ON????????????? Adamek and Birkeland are two of the best defensemen we have! And Nogatch was producing points. I am going to be VERY interested to see what the story on this one is. I only know the two upperclassmen, and they are both great guys!

PLEASE give any information you have!! I'm DYING over here!!!

Well Lakers hold on for the 3-1 win. THATS A BIG WIN. Crawford said this past week has been bad for Laker hockey so something must have occured that forced Coach A to get rid of some guys. I dont know if that is the case as Crawford hasnt said much other than what everyone else said. If anyone hears anything keep us posted.

At the end of the game all Crawford said was the the three defensmen (Nogatch, Adamek, and Bireland) had been dismissed from the team. Apparently they were suspended according to the guys on the radio. I know that Nogatch left and is back with the Black Bears. So he is gone for good it appears. As for Birkeland and Adamek hopefully it is just a suspension and they will be back. I dont know.

Also Scoran was injured in this game and did not play during the third period. Hopefully it was just something minor and he will be back tomorrow night.

WAY TO GO BOYS!!!!!!!

Lakers 3 - Wildcats 1

Good to see the team pull off a huge win, even with the depleted lineup! Still BEGGING for any details as to what happened with Mark, Barney and John. Bill Crawford ended the game by saying "this is a great win after the worst week in Laker hockey in the past ten years"

Now THAT says something!

With all that had to have happen this past week for the team...what a great win....and what a great confidence booster this has to be..hang in their guys and listen to Anzalone..he may be hard to play for at times, but you wont find a better teacher....he will make you the best you will ever be

Yeah I heard that worst week comment from Crawford too. I left for home on Monday and at that point I had not heard about anything so whatever happened probably happened sometime after Sunday. I dont really know.

I too am begging for answers.

Maybe the boys are becoming 'the Laker's' of days gone by. Seems that years ago their off-ice reputation was smattered with bouts of bad behavior. Hope this isn't the case, but you never know.

i don't know if the behavior is any worse this year, than the past 2 or 3, but i think that the coach, and the school (cough*new drinking policy*cough) is not putting up with as much crap as they have in the past... the ryan reed thing wasn't a good start, and drew some attention.. and with the BG incident, i think they are letting getting rid of some potential problems before they come back to bite us in the butt down the road.

The bad off-ice reputation of Laker players that I speak of is not anything we've seen in the recent past. I'm talking YEARS ago. Way back to 80's and early 90's. In any event, I don't really care to discuss that anymore.

As for the suspensions - Adamek, Birkeland and Nogatch - I doubt we'll hear anything more than what's been said. Crawford said at the beginning of last night's broadcast that they were gone and that nothing more would be said about it (meaning, no explanations being provided) other than the fact that they broke "team rules". And, as far as the coaching staff or anyone associated with the university goes - nothing IS being said about the incident. So, we'll have to settle for Crawford's short explanation.

Correction... dismissals. They are out.

I have to hand it to the Lakers... they pulled together after a tough week and played a good game.

It's always a little scrappy between the Lakers and Cats. Unfortunately, the Cats did not play hard and physical back. They seemed a bit slow. I know it's tough comin' off that off weekend. No excuse for last night though.

I suspect Saturday will be a much better game.

By the way... I thought your coaches head was going to explode at least twice. Could see the vains popping out from across the rink. Maybe I'll see if I can get him some Prozac for tonight.

Good game Lakers (on your part).

Of course that's what I meant ... I just used the wrong word. As I said before, the coaching staff is being very tight-lipped about the whole incident, so I doubt we'll get anything more in the way of info, and we'll just have to settle for speculation.

It's funny you say this, as I noticed the same thing about Walt - on at least one occasion. Except my comment was that he was about to 'blow an anuerism' ... hehehe ... ;)

And yes, the Laker's did have an excellent game. Not one of them had a bad night. As I called it earlier in the week, the last weekend off proved to be detrimental to the Cats.

Can't wait to listen to tonight's game. GO LAKERS!!!!!!

Incidentally, take a looky-looky at the standings at the moment. How SWEET it is to see the Laker's occupying sole possession of 4th place. Feels so good!! ;)

Isnt Laker hockey under Anzalone just great.Either on the ice or off, there is always something to chat about..lol.The boys played great and to me that is their way of saying we are behind you coach. They could have easily been down and felt like things were spinning out of control but they came out and everyone played great. If the players can show that much support for Anzalone, then we need to do the same.Lets win another tonight.

Tonight is the big test. We all know that the boys have it in them to pull it together and get the sweep, but have just been one step away for what seems like an eternity. If they can play like they did last night and get the sweep, I think the light at the end of the tunnel is much, much closer!

Git Er Dun Boys! :D
