Midge..they have another thread on Jeff Musaluk at Maine...lol..read it,,,will make you smile.
It was a good laugh! :p
Am I the only person here who felt a sweep was not possible, but probable? Funny game, Saturday night. I had that feeling, after about the half-way point, that the first goal would win it all. Its a shame the Lakers weren't the team to get that key lucky bounce.
Yeah.. i fully agreed. And i had a feeling when we had the puck stop an inch shy from crossing the goal line that luck would not be in our favour. I'm looking forward to ferris.. should be a fun weekend. I definately feel a sweep coming on. we are about due up for one.
We don't need to just play well and play close games. We need to win more often than we are. It's time to start getting a sweep now and then. I'd like to see the team stay at least within shouting distance of .500 this season. I'm not sure if there is enough offense to support that goal, but on the other hand if they could win 3 or 4 games in a row, who knows? That certainly would give them some much needed confidence.

Bought the plane tickets and booked the hotel in Omaha for next months Laker game out in the Cornhusker state. Unfortunately it is a crazy Thursday/Saturday series because of some country music concert on that Friday, so I'll only make one game. Still excited to see them play a game at Qwest though.
I was not able to listen to the game on Saturday. What happened to Birkland? Any word on how long he will be out?
Fox Sports Chicago picked up the MSU-Ferris game a few weeks back, and I wasn't all that impressed with Ferris. The Lakers really need a sweep this weekend to build confidence and prove they can play 120 minutes of hockey in a weekend.

Hello Laker Fans...
We are looking forward to our first series this year, unfortunately it is the weekend after Thanksgiving. Are you going to have people around? It's always fun visiting your arena.

Dont expect a full student section. Maybe a few kids who stay behind or live in the area. There will probably be about the normal amount of locals there I would say. As a whole I think both weekends that the Lakers play NMU knda suck. There is next weekend and then the one in March which is the weekend that our spring break ends. I wouldnt expect a lot of students at that one either.

The CCHA.com weekly feature is by Laker Mark Adamek:

I guess I didn't realize that the Lakers annual "home" game at the Joe was because Illitch helped with the Norris Center renovation.
I also didn't realize until this morning that Ferris's 1-5 CCHA record was earned against Ohio State, Michigan and Michigan State. Ouch! That is a rough schedule to start the year off with.
Sounds like tonight was a step backward, even though the Lakers got a tie out of it. From listening to the broadcast, Ferris outplayed the Lakers by a considerable margin. The Lakers had a couple of great chances late in OT, but again they just struggle to score.

Hey LSSU fans: anyone hear the high school score?

I don't think it was a step backward. They made some mistakes yes, and since they don't usually score a whole lot they can little afford mistakes like a senior defenseman on the power play misplaying the puck leading to ferris states first goal.
On the other hand they killed off the 5 on 3 and most important, they didn't give up a late goal to lose, which they have done several times already. Maybe it actually was a step forward.
From the sound of the broadcast, not having "seen" the game, I'd say it was a step backward. They got outplayed pretty badly on their home ice from the sounds of it, and Ferris isn't exactly one of the top teams in the CCHA, although yes the league season is still early. Violin played fairly solidly in net and probably saved their butts.

I think not being at the game and listening to Bill Crawford on the broadcast,I would have to believe what he said.Bill said it was the worse he has seen the Lakers play in last year or two.Said they seemed more like the teams from a year or two ago then they have been this season so far.But I do agree with the remark that they didnt give up a late goal to lose it and didnt give one up in overtime and actually outplayed Ferris in the overtime.Lets hope they get their heads on better for tomorrow nights game and make this a 3 point weekend.

I would just like to congratulate you a very decent weekend. It makes me happy to see LSSU back in the upper half of the league thus far.
I'll be home for the break and nmu_27 will be with me from late Tuesday night through Saturday. If anyone is up for anything give us a holler. Then for the game on Friday some more band members are coming over. I can never remember, but the Christmas parade is Friday night, does that usually dent the attendance till its over?
So Congrats, and Go...uhhh....EVERYONE!

I'd like to take a moment - at this point in time - to savor the standings ... it feels downright GOOD to be ahead of MSU, ND, Miami and Ferris. THAT is an accomplishment. The team has worked hard, and the payoff is in the numbers.
I'd also like to note that last night's game had somewhat of a turning point in it as well. Lake State won despite the fact that Ferris got on the board first. That used to be something that was difficult for the team to overcome. So, congratulations. I also enjoyed the physical level of last night's play. Haven't seen a game as physical as that in awhile ... especially on the boards. Hall seemed to be laying off on some of the potential penalty calls. And, despite the 4 goals allowed, Jeff Jakaitis did well in the net ... he was put to the test several times and really rose to the occasion. That boy has some outstanding skills.
And in regard to Friday night's game ... I don't think it was a step back. Yes, we didn't play as well as we could have, however, Matt Violin delivered some great goaltending, AND the Lakers successfully killed 6 penalties - totally foiling any attempts FSU tried to make on the powerplay. Yes, the SOG would indicate that we were "outplayed", but the game was not a step back in my opinion.
Happy Thanksgiving to the Lakers and the coaches. Looking forward to NMU this weekend. GO LAKERS!!!!!!

Its nice to listen to the games again and feel like a win is possible on any given night. Its been a while since that feeling has existed it seems but as we said when Anzalone came back, hope came with him.Do we still get frustrated at times? You bet,but we have that right. Some of us have been watching Laker hockey since the start and after all these years,we are still watching them play.Go Lakers and lets keep climbing those mountains.Congradulations on a successful weekend.

The Lakers are just one game below a .500 record. Its been a looooong time since they were so close to "respectability" and while Northern will be a very tough opponent, the Lakers have proven they have the potential to beat them and climb above the .500 mark for the first time since the 1999-2000 season.

Congratulations on the 3 pt. weekend, LSSU! It is great to see that your team is out of the basement this season. I was at one of the U of M games earlier this year and it seems to me that your team is better this year - however, they need to focus on staying out of the penalty box. The refs were really blowing the calls in that game - how do you get a penalty off the face-off for pete's sake??!!
Anyhow, this should be a great series this weekend. NMU will be a tough opponent, coming off a weeks' rest and a sweep at the hands of OSU. I hope to get to the game with my uncle on Friday night if the weather is nice for the drive up from Indian River.
I posted this question last night, but evidently it was lost due to the USCHO "database" problem.
Is Rainville hurt or sick, or was he a healthy scratch last night? I didn't start listening to the game until the 2nd period, and didn't hear why he wasn't playing.
