That is an interesting Article by the Nanooks beat writer. Check out the travel schedule they had from FB to the Soo.

Hopefully they will bring the scoring puch that we currently lack. I am a bit surprised by their size, or lack of. Not your typical Laker recruits but perhaps Frank is trying to find those speedy small players that can excell in the new no-hit NCAA.

From the sounds of it they are going to try and play a similar style of game as us. This could be interesting. Could be a low scoring couple of games with not many shots. The winner of these games is going to be the one who can control the puck more and take more shots I'd say.

You guys are going to start thinking that I have nothing better to do with my time than surf the net looking for links to post on this thread. Maybe you'd be right.............

That is an interesting article for a few reasons. It starts out talking about UAFs strong start, but further down it talks about Nightingale being benched by Comley. I remember last year people came on here telling us that Frank had chased off great players who were wearing the C on other teams. This year both Mushaluk and Nightingale have been benched. Kinda makes me think that Frank knows what the heck he is doing. Not that I didn't think that already.

Here's today's feature article from the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner

<a href="http://www.uafhockey.com/0405/nm/041112.html">Nanooks look to maintain momentum</a>

As for Mushaluk, at one time I think he was expected to transfer to UAF from Lake Superior but then apparently got a better offer from Maine. I don't think we're especially sorry right now either.

Back from Florida, and ready for some Laker games. Anything less than a split would be unacceptable. The Lakers are far overdue to sweep someone, but will this be the weekend? Can they put together two good games this weekend, especially offensively?

Well we got a good effort in game one, for a 6-2 win. Now let's see if they can do it again tomorrow night. I'll be very disappointed if they don't get a sweep.

Good to see Rainville get on the board for a couple of goals tonight, and also nice to see Campbell score. Also, Cheeseman gets his 1st of the season. Now Osman needs to get going.

There were a couple of real pretty goals last night ... seems the Laker's found those upper corners. Looking forward to seeing what happens tonight!

I'm very disappointed. This is getting to be a major mental thing with the Lakers. If you win the first night, especially fairly easily, you expect the other team to elevate their level of play the second night. But the Lakers seem to have a great deal of trouble elevating their game following a win to match the other team's better effort, regardless of who it is. They need to get over this. Their win loss record simply won't improve much until they do. In fact, they'll never even become a .500 team until they get themselves over this hump. Their raw skills have improved enough the past couple of years where we should be seeing them sweeping other teams, at least occasionally, and especially at home.

Why would you be disappointed?? The Lakers seemed to play very well, and with a goal not being scored until the third, both teams played great. It's tough to see your team win huge one night and then loose the next, but the Lakers seemed to play really good tonight and they made the Nooks fight to get their goals and even to get some shots off.

I understand being disappointed about tonight's game, but I do agree they did play a good game. At least they won one game this weekend, which is definitely better than none. They had a great win at that! I was VERY IMPRESSED w/ Matty V Friday!! It was good to see him out there and I know that those of us in the student section were cheering for him every opportunity we had!! They had some BEAUTIFUL GOALS as well. I couldn't believe Wardo's ... that was crazy quick and impressive!! He's on fire this year!! Rainville is another one that amazes me! He's definitely stepped it up this year!! Anyways here's hoping for another win against Ferris at home next weekend!!

I've long felt this was the case.

I think the Lakers did actually elevate their game last night, its just that Alaska brought their game up a tad more. Alaska is a good team and we played them hard. A split against this team is nothing to be ashamed of.

I am predicting a sweep of the Bulldogs next weekend and then we can put all our doubts to rest.

I'm not ashamed of the team ... I think they played well. We saw some awesome goals Friday night - I was just hoping for a repeat on Saturday as well.

Well, we finally get Ren back on the ice this weekend (YAY)...and now we loose Barney (Birkeland) to a wrist/arm injury :( . He had a cast on when I talked to him tonight. Not sure how that's going to affect next weekend's games vs. Ferris!! My guess would be B.J. will get some ice time, but that might only be wishful thinking  .

I think it is possible to have a sweep next weekend over Ferris, but the guys have to step it up some and put on the pressure the entire game. I would love to see another game like Friday vs. Alaska! Amazing! I don't know what Bo ate that day, but he was like a rocket, speedy gonzolez...lol :) . Like I mentioned earlier very impressed with Rainville, Matty V, and Wardo. These guys are playing hard and strong this year and it's good to see! I'm glad that Matty got to play allowing his parents to see a great game!! :D

Guys..it just drives you nuts to see the Lakers win like they did friday and then lose a tough one next night just like they did at Bowling Green. It is like the next big hurdle they need to get over is win the weekend and if they do,they may be on their way.Lets hope they do this week coming up and Midge..they have another thread on Jeff Musaluk at Maine...lol..read it,,,will make you smile.

One fianl thought...you take away that empty net goal Saturday and the Lakers have lost 5 of their 6 games by a goal.Thats tough hockey and tough ways to lose.

ARGHHHHH!

Taking nothing away from Fairbanks, and certainly giving full marks to a) fine goaltending, and b) the Nanooks coaching staff for making key adjustments after Firday's game.

BUT . . . .

Am I the only person here who felt a sweep was not possible, but probable? Funny game, Saturday night. I had that feeling, after about the half-way point, that the first goal would win it all. Its a shame the Lakers weren't the team to get that key lucky bounce.

But moving on, Ferris rolls into town. Another chance to pick up a bundle of league points. Slowly, but surely, the Lakers are building themselves upward. Picking up points, playing close, tight games . . .
