Yeah, it is a downer. Plus with it being so early in the year, it is tough to know who to pull for in the other series. I am holding out hope that LSSU will at least be IN THE RACE for a home ice playoff spot at the end of the year and the picture isn't clear yet who the race will be against.
Sure it is always funny to see UM and State lose at home like they did last weekend, but it will be harder for us to keep pace with Ferris and UNO with them taking points against the big dogs on the road. (I can't believe that UNO is as good or State is as bad as their records indicate, but only time will tell)

You read my mind exactly. I think these games must be flukes. I hope so anyways. In a way, tho, it kind of takes the focus off Lake State for the moment.

Could be flukes or another sign of parity. See BG beat Notre Dame last night...and still without seven players due to suspension. Kind of eases the pain from last Saturday's Lakers loss to BG.

Ugh what a boring weekend. I would have rather their off week was over Thanksgiving. Sounds like there will be a TON of people at the Fairbanks games as Students get in free on Friday (maybe both days I dont remember) and there is a group of 700 prospective students and parents (300 kids) who are getting free tickets to saturdays game. Hopefully the place is rocking.

Saw the thread and wanted to chime in. Three of us Bemidji State fans will be making the drive there for the series the first weekend in December. Looking forward to it. Any tips, helpful hints or anything to give us?
Thanks!

Millsy . . . bring your drinking legs.
And watch for deer on Highway 28 coming across.
And blowing snow.
Book a hotel now, you never know when a good blast of winter will bring the sled-heads and skiers from out of town.
Check and see if the Greyhounds are in town -- if they are playing and you can swing it, a trip to Soo, Ontario for an OHL game is well worth it. I haven't checked the schedule.

Update:
The Greyhounds play two games on the Bemidji State weekend:
Friday night at 7:30 vs. Saginaw (probably miss that game).
Sunday night at 7:00 vs. Kingston.

I would think an extra afternoon in the Soo, enjoying the sights, recovering from a hangover and recovering from losing to LSSU -- a night in Soo, Onatrio in the best, oldest hockey stadium, er, barn, you can find is just the ticket.

Thanks! Hotel is already booked, the Holiday Inn Express. We are leaving here on Thursday around noon and see how far we get Thursday night. We will be leaving right away Sunday since work calls on Monday. How long of a drive is it from Duluth, if anyone knows.
And yes, the drinking legs will be with!!!!! Living in northern Minnesota, the deer and snow do not scare us.

student government only approved free tickets for fridays game.. if it goes well, they are going to buy tickets for the rest of the weekend.. all in all, between SG and the athletic office, they agreed to purchace 700 tickets for the game.
TELL EVERY STUDENT YOU KNOW.. i'd like to see it even larger than the U of M game.

Duluth to the Soo is about a 7 1/2 to 8 hour drive--if you have good weather.

Thanks Anchor! Already looking forward to the road trip. I will have to look at a map and see what is on the way in case we decide to crash somewhere Thursday night.
Last year we made the trip to Findlay to see the Green play, this year the Soo!!!

Any new word on our recruits for next season? I heard that we already lost our top recruit for next year. On the Laker show, Frank stated that he decided to take the OHL route instead. He didn't mention the player's name but some one close to the program said it was a kid by the name of Henderson who currently plays for the Thornhill Thunderbirds of the OPJHL. Apparantly he began to receive alot of attention from NHL scouts which in turn brought about alot of attention from OHL clubs who then raced to sign him.
Do we have crapy luck or what!!??

What time do you plan on getting into town? If you make it by noon on friday, you should come for the blue liner luncheon. Its usually a good time, and you can hear what laker hockey is all about.. plus the food is good too.

Well, most of the UAF folks still seem to be trading insults with the UNO fans on the other thread, so maybe we won't hear from them until closer to game time. Here is what I see as the good news and bad news for this weekend.
Bad News:
1. UAF has 4 players scoring at a point a game clip.
2. UAF Goaltender Wylie "Coyote" Rogers is coming off a very strong weekend against UNO.
3. Most UAF freshman are in their 20s and seem to be stepping in and contributing early.
Good News:
1. Yes, they have scored in bunches, but they haven't really played anyone yet who knows how to play defense.
2. Travel from AK is tough and their road record reflected that last year. They were like 2-12 on the road in the CCHA.
3. LSSU will have a chance to show what they can do at home.
4. Fauci SHOULD be back. (any word)
Time for the sophomores to step up and start scoring some goals!
LET'S GO LAKERS!!!!

I heard a rumor that he got a year extension ... but, I don't know if that's true. We've got some momentum now, so I believe it's imparative that he stays!
Anyone know the REAL scoop on this one? I'd like to know.

I expect this weekend will be a couple of 3-2 games, and which ever team's goalie "shows up" is going to carry the day. It could be an LSSU sweep, a split, or a UAF sweep. I am not sure because we haven't seen LSSU on home ice other than the blow-out against Toronto and the UM game. So this is a good chance for the team to show us what they have.
Colgate -- ranked opposition on the road;
Michigan -- ranked opposition at home and on the road (LSSU played well and was, I contend, shorted by the refs);
BGSU -- split on the road;
So this is the first significant home weekend. If Fauci is back, that will make a big difference -- a player who can really handle the blue-line and makes great break-out passses, and can handle the offensive blue-line pretty good. I think had Fauci been in the line-up the Lakers would've swept BGSU.

The Heisenberg site is listing two new LSSU recruits:
Troy Schwab and Josh Sim both of Kindersley of the SJHL.
