OK, well I'm the newbie here, and maybe you guys pack it in and don't post during the off season, but I was depressed when I saw the LSSU thread had slipped to the third page, so I had to think of something to talk about........

Here's a bright note. Our recruit Kris Kasper had a three point night and was player of the game for his Junior team in a second round playoff series.

http://www.oilbarons.com/index.php

Looks like he has been a point per game guy in JRs. I realize that doesn't necessarily translate well to the NCAA, but it seems positive that he is having a good playoff run. Looks like a nice gritty kid.

Anybody else get the Hockey News? There was an article about "Who will replace Ritcher as Team USA goalie?" They had a few paragraghs talking about John Grahames chances. I've always been suprised that of all the Lakers goalies, he was the one who seems to have stuck at the higher level.

I'm swallowing my pride and cheering for the other UP School this weekend. Let's go Northern!

I wouldn't want Team USA to pin all the hopes on Grahme.

Even I scored on him once!

NMU/ State is going to be good.

OK, Laker fans, let's see your predictions for this year's frozen four. Will Minnesota make it a three-peat at the Fleet? Or will another bag that treat?

Let's see how the brackets set up this afternoon first.

It's cool to see 5 CCHA teams in the final bracketology!!

As far as predictions go, I'd be happy to see anyone BUT Michigan win! :D

When you see ND in there and see how we played them........it feels like we are making progress. Watching the selection reminded me of the good old days......knowing we were in but wondering who we would play.

Yeah, with all the talk this year of the CCHA being the weakest of the "big" conferences, I was really pleased we got 5 teams in. I hate to say this, but I'm pulling for the CCHA even if that means a Michigan win. GO CCHA!

It is nice to see a Notre Dame team we were 1-2-1 against in the tourney. The bad news is that we were what 0-10 against the other CCHA teams that made the tourney? Hopefully next year we can continue to improve and steal the odd game from a top ranked team. It's all falling into place.

GO LAKERS!!!

Yeah, it just goes to show you how good our league is ... tough too. And, truth-be-known I want a CCHA team to win it all too, but I just can't swallow that team being Michigan. Maybe IF and WHEN the time comes I'll feel differently ... but for now, I can't cheer for Michigan.

Any other Laker Fans going to the Grand Rapids Regional other than SugarIsland?

My guess is North Dakota taking the title over BC. Hard to say on the other two teams that will make it to the FF. Possibly Maine up in the East and I think almost anyone could come out of the Midwest. Gotta say at this point Im rooting for Notre Dame. Im from Indiana and was born and raised a Notre Dame fan. Only one team I like more when it comes to hockey and that the good ole Lakers.

I've read quite a bit on these boards that the CCHA is the we4akest of the 4. Certainly, WCHA and HE are the 2 strongest. No way is ECAC stronger than than the CCHA. Cornell the last 2 years and Brown this year show that a goalie can appear to walk on water statistically until they start playing superior offensive teams from CCHA, HE and WCHA. Vermont's leaving the league to join Hockey East speaks to the trajectory of the ECAC.

Yeah, I'm kind of pulling for Notre Dame too. They generally cover ND sports pretty thoroughly here in Chicago, and I'm curious to see if the Tribune will even notice if they win a game or two.

I just realized that Miami's assistant coach is Soo native Jeff Blashill. I wonder how I missed that one before. I think his dad is a CJ Prof at Lake State. I remember Jeff all the way back from Mrs Bullocks first Grade class at Washington School. So I'm pulling for Miami too.

GO LAKERS!!!

Yeah, and he used to be an assistant coach at Ferris before heading to Miami. Small world, eh? And to make it even smaller, Mrs. Bullock's daughter Kris Dunbar is Lake State's women's basketball coach ... and we all know what a great run that team has had in recent years!

ND or MSU??? Definetly ND. I HATE MSU and UM. This mostly stems from being a Notre Dame fan in all other sports but its carried over while being a Laker fan in hockey. If MSU wins a game or two I wont be happy but I wont be mad either. But U of M on the other hand.....well......lets just say I hope New Hampshire tears them a new a**hole.

Anyway honestly I wouldnt mind seeing ND get a banner. THey need one. (They have no CCHA or NCAA banners) THey need a big finish or two. They really need a national title. Ideally they need to get said National title in a year when the Lakers arent playing for it....making this year a perfect year to do so. Ive been to thier hockey arena......definetly not what I would have pictured for a school that can throw money around like they can. Im thinking a National Title will bring some alumni in who will go "hey lets get an arena worthy of a team with a title."

As much as I'd like to see ND go all the way, I really don't think they have what it takes to go up against some of the others in the tournament. I'm not convinced that MSU does either ... however, I wouldn't be too upset if they did win some games (I'm an alum, but have NEVER cheered for them in hockey - it's been Lake State all the way!!) ... but, I'm with you on Michigan ... yuck ... just can't stomach them winning anything. I guess that I would have to say that I'm really hoping OSU or Miami can make some strides towards the final game ... however, I won't be surprised to see if Michigan is the one team that makes it the furthest. As much as that sucks.

OK. so I'm already on the record as pulling for ND and Miami, but I have a tough time cheering against MSU after the Lakers get knocked out of the season. Was anyone else at the regional at Munn back in '94? I have seen a few games at Munn, and the MSU crowed there cheered louder than I have ever heard a Munn crowd cheer when the Lakers beat UM in that game. The MSU band even played our fight song. It was awesome. Sure, the folks at Munn would have cheered for ANYONE who was playing Michigan, but still it was nice. Plus I was raised in a Green and White home, so I am a big MSU fan in all but hockey.

God, hopefully some year soon we'll have more to talk about this time of year than justifying who we are pulling for in the tournament.

GO LAKERS!!!
