Best new jerseys in Hockey East

Maine's third would be much better without the added line that goes up the side and comes across the top of the chest (if I remember right, I'm sure someone will correct me here).

There is also a weird UNH jersey I have seen floating around that they have never worn (since I've been watching, which is before the current Cat logo on the shoulders of said jersey existed), but that doesn't stop a good amount of people from wearing it at games:

From an Ebay description I found it is made by Colosseum and collegiately licensed. Anyone? :confused: There is a company out there that licenses NCAA logos and makes jerseys with the team's alternate logo on the chest and the primary logo on the left shoulder.. The BC one has an "Angry Eagle" on the chest and the interlocked BC on the shoulder. I've also seen them for MSU amongst others.. even some nonhockey schools.

FWIW I think it's only a matter of time before BC starts producing third jerseys. Hopefully they will feature the eagle-talon logo, but I'm guessing it will feature the kid-oriented "angry eagle." Thing is, after home whites and road maroon, the only remaining color is the new gold color, which is fine as a component of the logos and such, but is poor for shirts and jerseys.

Worst new jerseys are the UNH gray ones, it's impossible read the nameplates.

I am a fan of UMass' blood red away jerseys. The maroon and black work together well. Lowell's jerseys are also vastly improved over the R A N G E R S ones.

I think the best new ones are the Northeastern "Varsity Letter" jerseys. Those are really sharp.

Best jersey in the country is the UND black 3rd, followed by a tie for the LSSU anchor and UAA away seawolf.

They changed them to a shiny silver this year and (now) the name plates are readable.

UMass has the exact same type of jersey as those shown in the links, except it's maroon and white with the new UMass logo on the front. I thought maybe it had something to do with Follett, the company that owns a ton of campus bookstores, including UMass'. Does UNH have a Follett bookstore?

BU: Fine as is.
BC: Okay, but bring back the eagle from the mid eighties. That looked sharp. :)
Maine: Fine as is. The home is far superior to the road, but what can you do? I don't mind the third jersies.
Merrimack: Did anyone notice that they actually went back to the late nineties versions. Nothing wrong there either.
NU: Ugh. Pick a jersey and stick with it.
PC: After going back and forth, the new jersey at home and the "old" road jersey are perfect.
UMASS: I love the home and road jerseys, but I have yet to warm to the shiny black jersey.
UML: Nice improvement with the Hab's jerseys.
UNH: Home and road are still class, and I actually kind of like the grey jerseys.

I am generally a traditionalist, but I like the idea of the third jersey.

I really like the shiny UNH thirds

Maine's thirds were a dissapointment. Do away with the word Maine on the front and make the bear head larger.

I like the "NJ Devils" NU thirds, really sharp.

I heard that BU will come out with a third next year. Somewhat of an "old-school" look.

jerry york says he won't have a third jersey or one with the eagle on it. he says they look too much like "nhl jerseys" and likes the collegiate feel of just the school's name on it. i agree when jerry leaves, bc may get new jerseys or at least a third.

I'm not a huge fan of UNH's "tin man" suits, but they usually seem to do pretty well when they wear them. Not a fan of Maine's thirds either. I like Lowell's new road jerseys a lot.

Actually, I'm generally not a fan of third jerseys at all. Light home, dark away, and simple, readable designs = good hockey uniforms.

I think that the school colors limit the jerseys ALTHOUGH Hockey East Schools are VERY distinct when it comes to colors. No two schools really have the same color combination. However if you had 2 or more teams that had similar color schemes, it would be a little more difficult to produce origional designs.

I would like to see a brand new set of UNH jerseys. Start over and make something real nice. The 4th jersey (ones they have never worn) are pretty cool but the letters on the front need to be MUCH bigger.
UML jerseys should be around for a long time. The new design is nice and the colors are rich.
Merrimack jerseys are fine as well. I like the new style.
Maine... well being a UNH fan, I wish they said, "Maine Sucks" but what are you going to do. They are nice jerseys however I think they will change soon. The third jersey is kinda ugly.
Boston College home jerseys are not so great. The away ones are ok.
Boston University I LOVE these jerseys. They have a flare of authenticity and seeeing the entire BU fan section with jerseys is amazing (get the hint UNH students)
I have never been a fan of primarily black jerseys, i think it was instilled in my mind as evil from watching the mighty ducks too much as a kid, sorry Providence.
Northeastern, same thing, I'd say eliminate the black jerseys and wear red or white.
UMass jerseys are ok but their school color is different from their jersey color so they should change one or the other. Instead of having Umass written on the front, they should have that nice, new Minuteman logo or a variation because the lettering on the logo would look sweet.

Maine, there isnt much you can do with baby blue, I like their original two much better than their third, but I like the tie up part of their third.

I think PC finally got it right by the end of last season. Both home and away with the new "Providence" font combined with the skating Friar, and the shield logo on the shoulders - looks sharp. Would like to see the players name's on the away jersey's though.

BC: 2 of 5 stars. I've been mad ever since they changed our logos and uniforms back in 2001. the "angry chicken" logo is so lame. "Welcome to McClucks, can I take your order?". Change it back to the home and road unis of the 1999-2001 season, with yellow/gold instead of that cream crap, dump all the italicized lettering and maybe bring in a third jersey, in yellow, with the Eagle on the chest like back in the late 80s.

BU: 5 stars. They should never mess with their classic look.

Maine: 5 stars. all three unis are great as is.

UMass: Go back to the jerseys from last season, with the big, scriptive 'U'. The current block letter U is bland. 3 stars.

UML: 4 stars. not bad. I think I liked the Rangers-style, diagonal lettering from a few years back a bit better than the current one, but this one looks okay too.

Merrimack: 1 star. that design just sucks. call a Nike rep, immediately.

UNH: 5 stars. looks great. and I don't mind the grey/third jersey either. pretty cool.

Northeastern: 1 star. yes, make up your friggin minds already. just when I think you can't possibly come up with something lamer, you do. maybe go back to the ones from 1999-2000, except lose the dog paws on the shoulders. That red & black 'N' logo is just plain un-inspired.

PC: I think they should go back to their uniforms from a couple of years back, with the skating Friar on the chest. The road ones looked sweet. The newer ones aren't quite as cool. 3 stars.

my general rules:
Shiny jerseys suck. this is hockey, not an Ibizan nightclub.
No italicized numbers or letters, unless it's subtle like the current 'UNH'.
Puts names on the back. opposing fans want to know who they're taunting.
In the case of gold, don't subsitute cream for the much cooler looking yellow.

I heard that BU will come out with a third next year. Somewhat of an "old-school" look.

Pretty happy with these guys. A little bit more marooner/darker than the current road jersey, Boston is a litle bit more flat than it is now and extra stripes on the side arms/shoulders. The jersey is also a neck tie up. I like them. Nice look. Although the two games we wore them for, we blew a 4-2 lead to UNH to tie it 4-4 in the last three minutes and in the first round of the NCAAs got killed by UND 0-4... so these jerseys have a bad record already, heh.
