I thought this was absurd enough to have its own thread. See:

Not one St. Lawrence player on the ECAC awards list or the honor roll. Vermont goaltender gets award for shutouts of the anti-No.1 Unon over Barrie's efforts against No. 1 Dartmouth? What gives? I'm guessing it's not a problem at the league level.
The Vermont goalie did stop all 57 shots she saw on the weekend. It's not like she is undeserving, and how many times does the Vermont goalie have a chance at an award like this? I doubt that Barrie minds too much, she has bigger fish to fry.

I'm sure Barrie doesn't mind, but that's not the point. Clearly there was some communication failure if there were no St. Lawrence players on the honor roll.

It's my understanding that the school SID picks 2-3 people for the honor roll, and then the ECAC offices pick the PotW from the honor roll. Anyone know for sure?

Also, how about Katie Johnson as Rookie of the Week...

Correct, so the breakdown of communication is between the SID and the ECAC.
As for Katie Johnston not getting ECAC Rookie of the Week, I'm sure the league has pressure to give awards to 1) different teams in a given week and 2) different players, so if competition is close, that will be a factor. In addition, Savard had GWG in two games for Yale, one which was in OT too (how often does Yale sweep a weekend). I can't really argue with this pick. Don't worry, Johnston will get another award soon, I assure you.
And leagues will tend not to make judgments like an OT goal against Brown is more impressive than a couple goals against Colgate. Leagues will always want to act like they have parity. (How often is the WCHA Offensive Player of the Week Award really the who-happens-to-be-playing-Bemidji-State Award?) You wish it wasn't like that, but it is.

No arguement that SLU's victories over Dartmouth were probably the highlights of the weekend but don't take anything away from the Vermont goalie. She has a very young team in front of her and gets bombarded every game. Aside from the 2 shutouts this past weekend, she's been solid all year including her performance a couple of weeks ago against SLU where she posted 61 saves (4-1 loss) and 47 saves (4-2 loss) respectively. She leads the nation in saves........not necessarily what you want out of your goaltender, but it does show she has talent. Also, this is her first year as a starter.

The biggest issue here is not that Cote was picked over Barrie. That I could live with. But that didn't happen. What appears to have happened is that not a single St. Lawrence player was considered for an award. And that makes both the school and the league look a bit silly.
[And let me emphasize that I imagine something like this would NEVER happen on the men's side.]
I recognize that Cote is a good goaltender. And she's had other outstanding weeks. In fact, I think she's been an ECAC goaltender of the week before. On the other hand, I think when as a league you give an award to a goaltender who shut out Union twice over a goaltender who shut out the No. 1 team in the nation once and beat them twice, your awards lose a bit of credibility.

It appears that the ECAC has taken action and corrected the problem. Barrie is now co-goalie of the week, and there are St. Lawrence players added to the honor roll. Good going.

I am with dave 1381 on this. Give awards to the best players for the effort in the week that past. By all accounts Barrie from SLU faced tough competition in a critical game for her team AND performed well. Because you have a "tough" ( generally losing) season is to my mind not the same pressure as playing for a team clawing its way into the Frozen Four.--EDIT -- good for ECAC
