If your team were going to hire a new coach tomorrow, which of these four would you choose?

No voting for your own coach!

Crowder is by far the worst coach in hockey east if not in all of ncaa college hockey.

Well, here's the deal. I can see why you are saying that (and I don't blame you) because he has coached Northeastern to two straight losing seasons and Northeastern hasn't been in the HE playoffs since 2002. And no, *almost* doesn't count.

But don't forget, Bruce Crowder was HE Coach of the Year not once, but TWICE when he was at the helm of UMass Lowell (1994 and 1996). Jerry York hasn't won it ONCE yet. More importantly, he was the recipient of the Spencer Penrose Memorial Award (for the best college hockey coach in the COUNTRY) back in 1996.

Honestly, I do not know what happened to Crowder. Is it because of the competitive nature of the neighboring schools (BU and BC)?

BTW, Jack Parker is still THE coach in Boston. If you have been reading the newspapers recently, everyone has to put the word/title "legendary" before his name :)

um, hint, when the media starts calling you a "legend" when your team isn't doing well, what they are saying is that it is time to retire. (read: jeff sauer at wisconsin). parker has clearly seen his better days and is definitley on the "back nine" of a great career.

I am not saying that Crowder > York (BTW, I like the use of ">") of course. What I am TRYING to say is that Crowder should be a significantly better coach than he is right now considering the numerous honors he have garnished when he was the head coach of UMass-Lowell. You do not get all those awards for nothing.

When I walked up to the Whittemore Center on Saturday, an old man criticized my girlfriend for being seen with a man in a BU jersey. After recieving a dirty look, the man told me 'but you have the best coach in college hockey." Sure, it could have been under duress, and I'm sure that it isn't true, but I still found it interesting enough to post. :)

Does anyone else think Soderquist is the de facto "none of the above"?

Really? None of you think that Claude Julien, Doc Rivers, and Terry Francona are better than Jack Parker and Jerry York ;) .

Are Bentley, Harvard and BC in Boston?

And since Crowder is no longer at NU... seems there is only one real answer to the question! :D

Alright so according to the US Census Bureau he's actually completely right... Kelley/Conte is in no way in the City of Boston, but I'm pretty sure for the poll we were just talking about the general area so it doesn't really matter.

I don't understand how either of us (BU/BC people) can honestly say the other coach is not amazing, just look at their records, that's part of what makes the rivalry so amazing.

Wow.. you guys resurrected this thread from back in 2004...

Well, i have to say.. NOW we do have one heck of a coach.. too bad his name is not up on the list. He just won HE Coach of the Yr & this is just the beginning. Oh & thank god his name is not Crowder..
Quiddlet (hint): he coaches at the real NU.. you know.. the only NU that matters in hockey :)
