Kelley/Conte is in no way in the City of Boston
I don't know why non-BC people get so obsessed by this question. But the answer is absolutely, positively, that Conte is located in the City of Boston. Feel free to check the maps at the City of Boston's assessor's webpage.

Really? None of you think that Claude Julien, Doc Rivers, and Terry Francona are better than Jack Parker and Jerry York ;) .
I think the Bruins have been through two or three coaches since I started the poll :)

Kelley/Conte is in no way in the City of Boston, but I'm pretty sure for the poll we were just talking about the general area so it doesn't really matter.
actually it is by about 10 feet.
Wow.. you guys resurrected this thread from back in 2004...
Well, i have to say.. NOW we do have one heck of a coach.. too bad his name is not up on the list. He just won HE Coach of the Yr & this is just the beginning. Oh & thank god his name is not Crowder..
Quiddlet (hint): he coaches at the real NU.. you know.. the only NU that matters in hockey :)
well since northwestern doesnt have a hockey team, there goes the real nu. hmm...well i know niagra played a halfway decent game against michigan in the opening round in the tournament last year so there we go.

OG needs to come by and question how not only can a hobey baker winner not be the mvp of his conference.... but the national coach of the year also fails to win coy in his conference too!!!!:D :D

i'm ok with the first one (MOP <> MVP), the second one makes no sense to me.

The conference coach of the year couldn't keep his team winning? (2-2 vs. 8-1)
It's about the coach and not necessarily team performance, but when there's that much of a dropoff/collapse all of a sudden, that ruined his chance.

I believe all of the Hockey East Awards are based solely on the league schedule, no OOC or playoff games (I could be wrong). I don't know when the final ballot is cast for the Penrose, so I don't know exactly what is included. At first announcement I had the same reaction as you did, but now I think it is a rather justifiable selection, in both coaches situations.
If you look at HE regular season BU and NU had essentially the same record, just swap an NU loss for a BU tie, and based on expectations it is easy to be more impressed with the coaching job that gets NU 39 points than the coaching job that gets BU 40.
In OOC regular season games and HE and NCAA Tournament games BU was 17-1-0 while NU was 7-6-1. Once those are factored into account I think BU's coaching staff could have easily exceeded the expectations the voters had for this team much more than Cronin and Co. did at NU. So, personally, I am fine with the two different award recipients for essentially the same award, while it did strike me as odd at first.

Right. But his overall year does include the playoffs, and perhaps the voters had Cronin slightly over Parker. When the year ended, Parker had done enough to overtake in the eyes of the Penrose voters apparently. Is the voting done when the tournament ends or before that?

you'll notice i never said who should have won either. just that it is mystifying when they're different.
imo, bu deserved every award available this year

Even team sportsmanship - they took those penalties to give the other teams a fighting chance. ;)

Northeastern fans probably won't see it that way, since they were outscored 4-2 by BU's PK... :p

that would also require the average northeastern fan to have logic.

Doesn't disprove my point - BU tried to give them a chance, but NU couldn't take advantage.

Not that it matters but my Northeastern comment was directed at Quiddlet, specifically. (it was a comment he made about Northwestern vis a vis NU and NU hockey (the one that counts :)), hence the correct retort.
As for the rest of your enlightening posts lately Slurpee..save the hot air... especially since the 'average' BU fan always seem to be in the news studying the world's oldest occupation. Hope you are not 'the average' fan, but then again.. who knows? (the more your team wins, the smarter you sound).. :)

I think a good poll would be "Harvard, who'd you rather have as your coach: Sneddon or Donato".
