A final nod to some of the best of the 2004-05 season while nearing the conclusion of the high school year in Minnesota, included among those nominated for "Lions Athlete of the Year" chosen from all HS athetes, on the girls side are several who's accomplishments take place on the ice sheet. The 2004-05 school year nominees who play with sticks & pucks are:
Colleen Conway from Hill-Murray
Maggie Fisher from South St. Paul
Kelsey Fletcher from Hill-Murray
Kallie Flor from Farmington
Chelsey Jones from Stillwater
Kelly Larson from Mahtomedi
Kallie Samuelson from North St. Paul
Ashley Young South St. Paul
Looking at all nominees for both boys & girls it appears this is a "metro only" award. Otherwise I'd be forced to suggest some major omissions of worthy nominees from atletes outside the metro were made.
Where is NSP's #21 ?

Another recognition for a future Maverick...

It's getting to be about time to let this thread sink quietly to the depths (there's too much bad news in here anyway.) I think for next year, we should start a separate Minnesota HS hockey thread where you and I can talk to each other without bothering the rest of the country.
As for those SSP'ers, you gotta let it go. I got over Hagen and Ellison -- those Packers are someone else's worry now. Instead, find us some obscure clipping on Gigi Marvin or Marley Wournell.
Edit: BTW, how come she didn't show up on the list of finalists that you posted earlier.

Heh heh...letting go...I'm tryin' my best buddy. I said before, it may not happen 'til their graduation from MSU but I will keep workin' on it. Time for some professional help ? Let's face it, the SSP girls have enjoyed more than their fair share of accolades.
I do plan on starting that "Minnesota Girls HS Hockey" thread later this summer to reduce confusion as you say as well as spare uninterested forum members excessive boredom.
I'll run a search for a local Warroad rag...see what I can find. :)
Can't explain the discrenpency with the previous awards list.
Dare I ponder...a potential shortage of future accolades ?
Congratulations to Sarah Parsons, who has been named the 2005 winner of the prestigious Carlton Award by the Boston Bruins. It is a shame she wasn't able to recieve the award in front of a capacity (ok, near capacity, as the Bs never sellout) crowd during a Bruins pre-game ceremony at the Banknorth Gahden.

A whole lot of *****in' and moanin' going on now, though it could be an interesting source of rumors and gossip and the like once the new season starts. ;)

What is the pretiegous Calton Award? Is the award for Mass High School players?, N.E. Prep hockey players?, the ISL? Who is it named after and who were the past recepients?

From the Bruins' press release:
Benn Ferriero of Governor Dummer Academy was previously named the 2004-05 winner of the men’s John Carlton Memorial Trophy. The winners of the men’s and women’s awards are selected by a panel of high school and college coaches. Professional scouts were also consulted on the men’s winner.
The annual awards are named in honor of the late Bruins scout and administrator who passed away in December 1982, after a long and dedicated affiliation at all levels of the game. The awards are presented annually to both a male and female Eastern Massachusetts high school senior “who combines both exceptional hockey skills with academic excellence.”
Previous winners of the women’s Carlton Trophy: Deborah Spillane (Franklin High School); Christine Capuano (Lawrence Academy); Karen Thatcher (Noble and Greenough); Amy McLaughlin (Milton Academy); Krissy McManus (Noble and Greenough); Deanna McDevitt (Milton Academy).
