Any more news about signings. I heard that the Gophers gave up on Aldous so she signed with Ohio. Lot's of players like that state side. Thet five girls on the last post where are they from. Also when is the deadline for early signings.

I have not yet seen anything official out of UMD - and as I recall, in the past they have waited until the early signing period was over before announcing. I think anything posted here regarding UMD is speculation or hear-say (though perhaps well founded).

It's up on their website.
The three girls going to the University of Minnesota have signed.
Erica McKenzie, Anya Miller and Jenelle Philipczyk.

It is confirmed by the Star Tribune that Amanda Storh has signed.

I can't find confirmation on Bunker or Drazen.
Could binnyrus be right?

Star Tribune had a listing earlier this week where they showed Bunker and Drazen with verbal commitments as shown in this thread.

Finally Official:

Rachael Drazen a defender from Benilde-St. Margaret's is the first to sign with UMD. Per article in today's Duluth newspaper she'd narrowed her decision down to Wisconsin or UMD and chose UMD because of the international players and because of coaching.

Erin Holznagal from Brainerd was also mentioned in the article. She's played forward and defense.

Nice to see UMD's first two signee's are from the North Star state.

As a gopher fan I was a little disappointed to see Amanda Storh go to Mankato. The Mavs seem to be having good recruiting success lately. I had visions of reuniting the dynamic SSP line of Storh-Fisher-Young at the U of M in a couple years. I can only hope Halldorson is planning her pitch right now for the two juniors. Maggie fisher in particular looks to be a future D1 franchise player.

It has been hard to tell at times how good any particular player is for SSP, because they have been so dominant as a team. Stohr seems to be one of those players who makes a ton of good plays and makes others around her better. When I watch Fisher, I'm not sure why she is as effective as she is. Maybe her best attribute is sheer determination. Young can fly, but is on the small side. Felicia Nelson is another player from that class that has always impressed me, and I expect Jessie Dyslin to wind up playing for some college team as well.

That is one of the problems for a college coach. You can't sign everybody that you like, so you hope you make the right choices. Jeff Vizenor seems to recruit the Minnesota high school kids as hard as anybody. Nice to see UMD make an effort.

Does anybody know if this class (2004) of Minnesota gals is the biggest class to sign early? If not which class was?

Not sure about the total numbers...does seem like the most in the 6 or so years I've been following the high school girls. May be attributable to increasing talent pool...your guess as good as mine.

So ARM, we lookin at a threepeat for da packers this year ?
Wouldn't suprise me too much I guess. They've won like 56 straight or somewhere thereabouts now haven't they ?

Binnyrus-

Speaking of girls from Minnesota, does any one know where Nikki Petrich from Shattuck St. Mary's is headed. I have heard that this is the best girl not only in Minnesota right now
but maybe even the Country. That is the talk anyway. Does anyone even know anything about her?
On another web site they talk as if she is the BOMB. I guess she had a 7 goal 8 assist explosion last weekend in Wisconsin.?

brookyone, I believe the number is 58 for South St. Paul. I expect them to lose one fairly early in the season; teams tend to be inconsistant when they are breaking in a lot of new bodies on D, and they have a tough schedule. As for them winning the AA title again, it is hard to say in hockey where a bounce, a hot goalie, or a fired-up opponent can end your season. I guess it will depend on how good the players that are moving into the lineup are.

Per the statistics here:

http://s-sm.org/Athletics/Statistics.aspx?TeamId=15

it looks like Nikki Petrich has 19 goals and 18 assists in 23 games played.
