Actually the post was not meant to offend. I just found it weird that no Beast stood out at the games I saw. So I just figured that

A. She was injured and missed the games I watched

B. The comments about her posted were from an excited family member or friendwho got a little carried away describing her talents.

I found it funny that in two posts on different players on this thread, the persons posting (More than likely the players themselves) put more hype into things than necessary. I think it would be enough to say the person is moving on to play D-1 college hockey. That statement in and of itself is an achievement many will never know. But to describe ones self as a Beast and make comparisons of ones self to Pioneers of the game, and self proclomations of Rookie of the year is laughable.

If she was not injured for any length of time this year and played in the games I saw, I'll take the other end of the Rookie of the year bet.
Still to this point no name on the Phenom from Ohio.

Just kidding laker man.

I heard they got a great player from ohio. Yes Ohio USA
and one or two great players from out west if my sources are good.

But shouldn't you be giving us the Laker inside story.

I wish I knew the inside story. Honestly, I dont think the team players know who I am. I dont talk with the players.
I did ask some of the coaches and got the ole "no comment".

and skatnmiasov, I'm nether the player, a family member or friend of the family. She has not had the benefit this year of playing with the skill level players that Phoebe had for most of her Flames career. Actually, the skill level might be there, but they are real young!!
If this area has a problem with hockey, it is depth, the players are very talented, but there isn't enough of them in certain years!
MicZ....don't know what the secret is in LakerLand, when some of the younger girls were in Erie for the OSU/Mercy game earlier this year, the coaching staff came over and told them!!

I won't mention the players name, as that should be up to family or the player, but she is that strong, different than Phoebe no doubt, but very exciting to watch and LakerNation should be very happy with the pick up!!

Good luck to her, it has been a pleasure watching her the last few years.....

The reason why we in Erie are not up on the recruits is that Mercyhurst did not sign anyone before the early signing date. They can't announce any new recuirts until April 14, much less discuss them with Zamboni drivers and off-ice statisticans :D .

Given the fact the Lakers are only losing three seniors, there wasn't the big rush for recruits like last year. They have recruits lined up for next year, they just can't say anything. I don't think they have any real pressing needs this year, save replacing the three players. The freshman they recruited last year have turned into an excellent group of players. We could always use another scorer and strong defensive player, but who doesn't?

Kristen Erickson is the only possible Flames player headed to Erie. Of the 3 seniors: 1 is a goalie (Princeton bound), 1 is a defenseman heading to college on a scholarship for soccer (I've heard) and the other is Erickson.
Her Dad is the Flames coach and her sister is a player at RIT.
Obviously, her hockey upbringing is sound and she skates like the wind and is a scorer.
Congrats to Mercyhurst!

I heard mumblings in the crowd (me thinks it was a parent of a player) about a girl named Stephanie Jones. Is this a possible recruit coming to Erie and does anyone know anything about a player named Stephanie Jones?

There is a Stephanie Jones that plays for UNH. She is a junior this year so if she is transfering she'll only be eligible for one year.

Sorry..tried to be brief-I guess it wasn't clear..my point was supposed to be..there is ANOTHER Stephanie Jones..CWG player for Alberta, played Chimos this season..perhaps this is the Jones (and not the UNH Jones transfering)

All I know for sure now is that it isnt the Stephanie Jones from UNH (recieved an email confirming that).
If in fact there is a Stephanie Jones going to Mercyhurst this must be the person:http://www.edmontonchimos.com/new/profile25.html

The Saskatchewan Leader Post has an article on Jody Heywood, who's joining Jeni Creary and Lacey Schultz as Saskatchewan players on OSU.

"Everything (at Ohio State) kind of matched up with what I wanted in a school," explained Heywood, who played for the Balfour boys hockey team this past season. "I applied to the honours program there and I was accepted. Academically it added up. As far as hockey goes, it's a great program. There are some Saskatchewan girls there so it was kind of a little piece of home as well."
Heywood, who plans to study business administration as a pre-law degree, was pursued by several other U.S. universities. Her interest was also piqued during visits to Harvard, Yale, Princeton and Dartmouth.
"It definitely opened my eyes about what's out there," she said. "The Ivy League schools are awesome schools, they have so much tradition. I met alumni and I met people involved with the schools who were so proud they're a part of that. And just the campuses were amazing. It was pretty cool just to say I had a chance to look at those schools. Overall it was a great opportunity."
P.S. I hate the canada.com network... it makes it impossible to access just about any w. hockey article without subscribing.

I was doing some research and found another recruit headed to Mercyhurst. Her name is Sherilyn Fraser. She plays for The Warner School near Lethebridge (sp). She is from Prince Edward Island. I found the information here, http://www.warnerhockeyschool.com/Team/playerDetail.asp?PlayID=13

Anyone know anything about her?

This makes the Mercyhurst recruits up to 3 now, Erickson from Ohio Flames, Stephanie Jones from the Chimos and now Sherilyn Fraser from The Warner School. I wonder if there will be anymore after the next signing period.
