Mercyhurst is at #5 this morning in the pairwise rankings. I dont think a win today will move them up but what will it take for that to happen? Obviously winning out is the first part of the equation.

See the adjusted RPI thread... basically Mercyhurst will be within a tiny, tiny margin of St. Lawrence in RPI with a victory today.

The reason, by the way, that the gap between St. Lawrence and Mercyhurst is smaller in the adjusted RPI than the unadjusted RPI is that St. Lawrence has two games against Union coming up. I'm taking into account that those two games are going to get dropped, which means I only drop two games from St. Lawrence's current RPI.

Also note that means once St. Lawrence plays these games, you'll a noticeable drop in the unadjusted RPI. This is irrelevant.

Shots on goal for the period were 8-7 in favor of Mercyhurst. I think Mercyhurst had 7 if not all 8 shots in the first 10 minutes of the game. Typical of Mercyhurst. My guess is the rest of the game will be dominated by Mercyhurst because that is the way Mercyhurst plays.

Niagara played real hard in the 3rd to earn a good win. Disappointed by the play of the freshman from Mercyhurst.
Shots on goal for the period were 10-7in favor of Mercyhurst.

Just some thoughts now that I have had time to digest this game. Is it possible to dominate a game and play so bad? Mercyhurst did it today. I was really disappointed in the play of the freshman, particularly the fowards. Tomorrow is senior day and I hope all give a little better effort for the 3 seniors.
I am not one to say any loss is a good loss because I dont believe that philosophy but hopefully this loss to a division team will wake up the girls in time for the playoffs. I am going to say Mercyhurst wins by at least 4 goals tomorrow.
