Nice effort by Findlay. They just changed the Findlay goal to Forbes from Richardson. Shots on Goal for the period were 7-4 in favor of MC. I really thought McDonald played her best of the season today. At least her best game at home. Hopefully the Lakers play a little better tomorrow.

15 minutes to go till they drop the puck. I have a bad feeling about this one cause Mercyhurst took the pre-game warmup to the Grease mix soundtrack. Somebody should be fired over that.
Hey MIC --- whats up with the broadcast? The radio schedule says they are doing this game but yet they have that concert crap on again. They also didnt have the delayed broadcast of yesterdays game? They sure have been doing a poor job of coverage for the womens hockey team this year.

Findlay scored first at 4:14 from Maguet with help from Truszowski and Hickley. From then on the period belonged to Mercyhurst. At 16:59 Colizza scored her second goal in as many days with the assist going to Jarrell. Then at 19:43 Dellow scored with Yule and Barch getting the assists. Mercyhurst led the shots on goal with a 12-9 advantage. Mercyhurst playing a little better than yesterday. Findlay still continues to impress me. More after the 2nd period.

Findlay struck first again when Tunks scored at the 12:50 mark. Clarkson had the lone assist. Mercyhurst came right back at the 17:30 mark to go back ahead with a goal from Jarrell with help from Colizza. Shots on goal where 11-4 in favor of Mercyhurst.
SAJ-I posed this question (Radio broadcast) to Coach Sisti a couple weeks ago and he didnt have an answer. I dont know what to say. I am sure it is frustrating. That is why I try and help out by doing this. I am sure there are some parents who like to keep track of what is going on. I am pretty busy today which is why I have to do it after the period is over. I will keep you updated.
Thanks MIC
Yes it is frustrating to expect to listen to the game because it is scheduled and then not to have it. I undersand that the announcer was there and did the broadcast yesterday -- they just didnt air it!!. Is he even there today?
Anyway, on behalf of the Laker fans who cannot be there, I want to thank you for the postings as they do help

Tunks scored in the 3rd period from Tallqvist and Monk to even it up and send it to overtime. Then with 15:5 sec left Colizza scored again off of a rebound from Lansing slap shot. Great ending.
Once again, I was impressed with the play of Findlay and I wouldnt want to face them in the CHA playoffs. They are playing really well.
My three stars would go to:
3rd Barch
2nd Jarrell
1st Colizza

Congrats to Julia Colizza for being named the USCHO Offensive Player of the Week. She had a weekend to remember with her offensive output. Her overtime goal on Sunday was a thing of beauty. Nice deflection.
Just a little side note on Julia. I believe she is the youngest player in the CHA. Hopefully good things to come from Julia for the Lakers. They will need some goal output next weekend against Princeton from several players.
Also, have you noticed LakersFan that Mercyhurst starts out each game a little sluggish? If the Lakers can hold a team scoreless or at least only be a goal down after the first period I feel comfortable. They make me nervous after the first 10 minutes.

I totally agree with the slugish start theory. It seems like it takes a couple of shifts for the team to really get going. The team shifts very quickly at the start of the first period, as Coach Sisti gets his three main lines on the ice in the first 75 seconds or so. I don't think this is why the seem slugish at first, however. I think it is just a mental thing, and with every (maybe not every, but most, as Coach Sisti seems to juggle his lines a lot) line combination having a freshmen on it, I think it is up to the veteran players to get the team ready to play those first ten minutes.
It was the first period that hurt Mercyhurst in Minnesota, and if they want to sweep Princeton, which is what they need to do keep their slim Frozen Four hopes alive, they have to play a full 60 (or 65) minutes.
Lakersfan, I didn't think that Mercyhurst was sluggish at the start of the games in Minnesota last month. In the first game, things were relatively even until the Lakers gave up the SH goal halfway through the first. A shorthander often shifts momentum in a game, and I think that was the case. In game two, Mercyhurst started better than the Gophers, and had the lead until late into the first when goalie Clark didn't get all of a shot with her glove. Unless your accustomed to seeing your team come out flying like last year's UMD or Harvard teams could, I didn't see a problem with their starts.

Well said Arm. I saw the team play at Dartmouth and the Lakers were flying from the start. Maybe the Laker fans are fans that like the team, but don't know much about hockey since the stats show the Lakers have played most games all year with the lead which was big with their 3outof 4 points with UNH/Prov. Or maybe they play the ALI rope a dope at times.

I assure you I know enough about hockey to make comments. First of all I havent been to an away game this year because of my work schedule so I base my comments on home games. Second, maybe I shouldnt have said "each game" but rather than most home games. Just because Mercyhurst has the lead after a period doesn't necessarily mean they didn't play sluggish. Usually their defense and goaltending will keep them in games in which they are being outplayed.

I only heard the Minnesota games on the computer, kinda of bouncing around taking care of my infant son. When I was listening during the first period of the first game, I heard a lot of break outs being broken up at the Lakers on blue line and some missed passes. Again, I didn't hear everyhthing, but that was my impression (thinking back a month ago), and that impression stuck with me. Of course, Minnesota deserves most of the credit for that, since they are a great team.
The last four home games I have attended, the first half of the first period has not been their best hockey. They get a few shots on goal, and the ones they do are typically not great shots. This year they only managed two shots on goal in the first in a 3-1 win against St. Lawerence, a game I thought they would lose big time after the first. Yes, they played well in the first against Providence and UNH, but the past month has been below average.
Mercyhurst hasn't lost any games recently in the first five/ten minutes of tha game, but they haven't won any either. Maybe the "assumed" level of competition of the last four teams I saw them play at home, Quinnipiac and Findlay, caused the team to come out slow, even though they might lead after the first period. Its not a good trend to be taking to Princeton next weekend.
Franeepack - I assure you that the stats your refer to are accurate, since I am 50% of the team that keeps track of those stats at Merychurst home games. And I am an "expert" on shots on goal, because I face enough of them in my weekly hockey league in Erie. I just wish I was a "expert" at stopping them.

I have been waiting a long time for a game like this at the end of the year. This weekend's Princeton series is going to be the death of someone. A split would mean the death of both teams. It is time for the Mercyhurst girls to step up to the plate and hit a homer. Win or lose though they are very deserving of their ranking right now. I hope all the girls play hard not just 2 or 3 girls. I will be sitting by my computer anxiously waiting for the scores to pop up. If anyone gets a result before Collegehockeystats.com or USCHO does we would appreciate your help.
GOOD LUCK LAKERS

I will be attending the Princeton/Mercyhurst games this weekend. I will definitely be able to post Saturday's result as soon as I get home (I live five minutes away). Sunday I'm not heading straight home.
This series should be very entertaining.

as you can see from another thread, Princeton had live stats for today's game against Yale. I imagine they'd have the same for the Mercyhurst series as well. (go the schedule, find the game, click live stats).

This was a nice win against Princeton but like I said before, a split will kill both teams. The loss by Princeton buried any slim chance they had at gaining a frozen four birth. A loss tomorrow by Mercyhurst would do the same thing to them. It looks like Mercyhurst owned the final period again.
If anyone was at the game today we would appreciate any comments on the game.
