Penalty on UCONN. This is going to open up the ice and this should favor MC. Lets see how this one shakes out.

Going to OT. I don't know why these games are scheduled so early. This stinks.

Mercyhurst making another goalie look great. Sounds like Wilson is making some very good saves.

Ends a tie. This may hurt the Lakers in the Polls but I think in the long run this will help. Tough to go so long without another loss would have been real tough in the NCAA's.

I agree MIC in the long term this will help. They will be mad and it will sharpen them up a bit.

Today's score after the first 3-0 MC. MIC are you able to be there?
Now 4-0 after 2.

After 2 periods Mercyhurst is up 4-0. UCONN outclassed the whole game. Mercyhurst just pouring it on. Agosta and Bourbeau both with 2 goals.
UCONN looking like they were happy with the tie yesterday and ready to get on the bus.

What I also like to see is Dianoski with 3 assists.

Yes, Dianoski playing well.
Agosta gets the hat trick with about 5 to go in the game. I hope Bourbeau gets it before its all said and done.
UCONN taking a couple cheap shots at some of the Laker players in the third as well.

It's a rap.
Mercyhurst dominated play today. It would be a shame if they lost their #1 ranking no matter what the result was yesterday.

I've had time to digest todays game and here are few thoughts.
1) Its nice to see Dianoski play so well. Just another piece of a puzzle that already looked pretty much done.
2) Agosta is just that **** good!!!
3) As good as Chouinard looked last year, she is even better this year.
4) I don't see Mercyhurst losing anymore games this year. Yale should be the last good team they play until NCAA's. This may hurt the Lakers but I really don't think so.
5) 1221 was the attendance today. Although I think the numbers are inflated there are still alot of people in the stands. Will get even better towards the end.
6) Somebody please tell the student section to come up with some different cheers. There are so many good hockey cheers and all they can ever come up with is "It's all your fault, it's all your fault". Someone please see me and I will give you about 5 or 6 different cheers.
7) The Mercyhurst Ice Center should be renamed "The Train Station". That horn is so loud. Either it got stuck a few times today or the person turning it on fell asleep on the button.
Lakersfan, any thoughts on the weekend?

Thanks for your analysis. All I had to go on was Live Stats. I looked at overall stats and noticed some nice things happening. One player in the 40s (points), three in the thirties, one in the twenties and two on the door step (with 17 and 19 points respectively). That's DEPTH ! Nice to see Jarrell piling up some assists and points, also.
I've thought right along that Chounard was extremely valuable in her offensive/defensive play.It seems to really be the case in the games I've seen.
Dani Ayearst is really picking up her play, also. She and Payne are very speedy defensemen.
It would be a shame if they lost their #1 ranking no matter what the result was yesterday.Well technically, it's not THEIR ranking, it goes to the best team. Personally, I think it should go back to Wisconsin. They have a tougher schedule than you down the stretch. If they lose and you don't, then fine, you get it back. But if the Badgers, as defending champs, should enter the NCAAs with only one loss, then they should hold the #1 ranking. Everyone says it is harder to defend a crown than win one, and UW has done a nice job. The pollsters are probably doing MC a favor if they take the #1 ranking away right now.

Are you saying Wisconsin should get the #1 ranking because they earned it LAST YEAR. Yes, Wisconsin's schedule is harder than MC down the stretch. MC's was harder at the beginning of the year. Not sure what that means, if anything. The only thing you didn't say was that Wisconsin is the better team and that is why they should be number one. Not sure I believe that is true but if that was your argument I would listen.
The only thing you didn't say was that Wisconsin is the better team and that is why they should be number one.Having not seen Mercyhurst, I can't make that argument. Just like you haven't seen Wisconsin, so you'd have a hard time saying just how good the Badgers are. My guess is that whichever team is "better", it is probably by a very slight margin, just like last year. Mercyhurst has added some impact, particularly in the person of Agosta, but UW now has players like Duggan and Sanders.
In my mind, the Badgers are the top team until someone makes a strong case as to why they aren't. MC had made a good case, but for me, the UConn tie weakened it, so my vote would go back to Bucky.

Of coarse you have taken Wisconsin's two ties to St. Cloud State a team that has not been ranked in the top ten, into consideration.

But I've seen St. Cloud play, too, and know that they tend to be as good as their goaltending on any given day. I even considered MICZ's gloom and doom posts while Mercyhurst was struggling against Cornell. In the end, I just have to rely on what I've seen from Wisconsin, and that is that it's going to take a heck of a good game from someone like an Olympic-medal-winning goalie to beat them. Can the Lakers beat them? Maybe, but they are going to have to prove it to me. To me, it is like boxing -- the champ is the champ until someone proves he isn't. I do understand that if you need to crunch the numbers and pick a winner, then right now it is Mercyhurst.

It comes down to one game, and I like Mercyhurst chances. it's speculation but Mercyhurst has a player or two that can really hurt you come crunch time. They have not had that in the past. That may be the difference this time around, we will soon see.

Absolutely agree. The only thing I can go by (I know it is not absolute) is the pairwise and rutter rankings. Whoever is better, like you said, is by not much.

Because they tied UCONN, IMO, is not a real strong case.
It really doesn't matter what we think anyway unless you have a vote because I don't.
It really doesn't matter what we think anyway unless you have a vote because I don't.No vote (thank the Lord), but it's fun to talk about, because March is a long way off. The good news is it will be decided on the ice. And may the best team win.
