Thanks Gibber and Wingsdad11, I did find the stats stream for the UNH game. Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything like that for BC game. Also thanks for the good wishes for the Lakers here on out. Think we will see more than "78" fans in Erie next weekend against Colgate. Go Lakers!

Alright boys and girls, less than an hour away from tip off vs. Colgate. As far as I know Hosier will be in goal again. Lets hope the ladies can come up with a convincing victory today after yesterday's tie. More to come...

Brook Wheeler, goalie for Colgate, is not dressed for todays game. She is ill. Starting in goal today for Cogate will be Elayna Hamashuk.

Colgate scored shorthanded goal at 6:46 by Allison Paiano. Natalie Payne skated out from behind her own net and skated right into Pendleton. They collided, the puck went right to Paiano, skated across in front of the net. She waited for Hosier to go down then flipped it over her. Shots on goal favored Mercyhurst 14-6.

Mercyhurst controlled the 2nd period outshooting Colgate 16-4 but couldnt muster and goals. They had there chances as one shot was ripped off the top of the crossbar and one goal was disallowed after it was kicked in. Hamashuk is giving up more rebounds than she should but the Lakers havent been able to capitalize. Third period is about to begin.

julia Colizza scored at 12:59 to tie the game up. She was standing on the doorstep as Jones skated around the goal, took a shot from the goalies left side, and Colizza gathered the rebound and stuffed it home. Mercyhurst outshot Colgate 10-9.

Some great chances for both teams in OT but nobody could slip one past. Mercyhurst had 4 SOG to Colgates 3. Mercyhurst played desperate hockey the last 10 minutes of the hockey game and it payed off. To bad they didnt get many scoring chances before then.
On to Detroit next week to take on Coach Fetter's Wayne St. Warriors. Should be another close series.

Courtney Drennen in goal today for the Lakers. A matchup of the two freshman goalies up for the CHA All-Freshman team.

5:43 in the first Chouinard scores with help from Jones and Bourbeau. Drennen is finding time to do her calculus homework during the game.
Calculus seems like a poor fit for an ice rink. Geometry, physics, statistics, or even chemistry seem like better choices.

After one period Chouinard has both Laker goals in what is going to turn out a route. Shots on goal in the first period were 26-3. Chouinard scored at 8:24 from Jones for her 2nd of the period.

Mercyhurst scored at 11:30 and 17:23 to put the Lakers ahead 4-0 after 2 periods. Kurth scored with assists going to Nugent and McArthur and then Nugent scored with help from Shirley. Shots on goal in the period were 24-5. Robert Morris had one good scoring opportunity but Drennen did a great job stopping it.
Robert Morris had a full 2:00 minute 5 on 3 but mustered one shot.

Bourbeau ended the scoring at 11:45 with assists going to Chouinard and Jones.
I think Robert Morris gets to do this all over again next weekend.

Ok hockey fans, how does Mercyhurst match up with Wisconsin. I think Mercyhurst can beat anybody in the tourny but havent played good competition in about a month. I think Mercyhurst will play a little better in each game but that means they have to play good enough in the first game to prove this theory.
I also think goaltending will be the key in not just the Mercyhurst-Wisconsin series but with every series. Games will be won or lost with the goaltending.
Ok hockey fans, how does Mercyhurst match up with Wisconsin.Probably as well as anyone outside the top three does. As usual, Mercyhurst has a strong PK. Based on what I saw this weekend, you're going to need it, because that was the best that the Badgers PP has ever looked. Granted both SCSU and UM made mistakes against it, but Wisco was very efficient in how they exploited those mistakes.
The weakness of the Badgers over the years has been their own PK, and to a certain extent, that exists again this year. They may be only 3 % behind the Lakers in PK stats, but you at least get the feeling that they can be scored upon. I'm not sure if MC's own PP is clicking well enough to take advantage. It may be moot, because the Badgers are good at staying out of the box.
They have more offensive talent and depth than ever before -- Bauer is the best forward thay they've had. They finished very well this weekend. I can think of several goals they scored in the WCHA tourney where they took the goalie completely out of the equation. So as much as goaltending against them will be key, I think the D in front of the keeper will be just as big.
As far as the Badger's goaltending, they've played all three this year. I think Horras is the strongest, and that's who I'd start from here on out, but I have no idea what they'll do.

I faced Hosier last season and saw Drennen this year twice. If I were Sisti I would start Drennen and keep her in until she gave up two. The team seems to lack "spark" in front of Hosier (especially the ability to net the puck, despite outshooting opponents three or fourfold) and plays extra hard in front of the rookie. Maybe MIC can tell me if I'm just dreaming but that's what I've seen and otehrs have concurred.

Some good points, but seeing a goalie 2 times in a season of games and practices is far from an exact science as to who plays and who doesn't,.....both goalies are competitive and can play big in a big a game,.....the Lakers, first and foremost, need to take care of the 10,200 square feet, from their offensive blueline back to their net,.....specialty teams will be critical if they want a chance to go to the final 4,.....

Mike Sisti and his staff are certainly more knowledgeable about their athletes than any of us. Whoever the Lakers put in net, I have no doubt it will be their "best" tender.
Mercyhurst will give Wisconsin a real battle. If the Badgers think they're going to blow them out, they'll be in trouble. They won't play a more prepared team than the Lakers. The one major obstacle for the Lakers is going to be having to adjust quickly from the weak competition they faced this weekend- to a team that is loaded and deep. But I'm still comfortable that this will be a one goal game.
