Thanks for the update MIC. I was so disappointed when I saw the goal on live stats. It did appear like Hurst was dominating . I saw last week's games against Minn. and I thought the Lakers outplayed Minnesota in the first game, also. :(

Great game ruined by a horrible call.
Merychurst outplayed St. Lawrence in the third, with some great saves by Moffat (she causes bad Findlay flashbacks. Glad to see is playing so well after her team folded). Pfeiffer let tons of stuff go for both teams at the end of the third, including a Laker being tackled in the corner as she went after the puck. Then to call obstruction-hooking away from the play with 26 seconds left was insane. That type of stuff was going on all day. Frustrating end to a great game.
St. Lawrence took advantage of the power play and turnovers, and Moffat kept them in the game. Merychurst had trouble finding the back of the net, again, but hard work payed off in the third. Mercyhurst had an extended 5 on 3 to open the first period, and couldn't score. Today's power play was better than last weeks, but they really need to start scoring on the man advantage.
If things go to form Sunday, Moffat will stop 41 shots in a 2-0 shutout and be named defensive player of the week. I hope that is not the case.

If Moffat has to make 41 saves, Mercyhurst scores atleast 4 goals, and wins going away,.....
LakersFan and MICZamboni, Thanks for both the live stats and the in-game/postgame updates. Any news that you can provide is always appreciated.

Game starts in about an hour. The only thing I know so far is Hosier will be in goal for the Lakers again. More to come.

:28 sec. in the period and St. Lawerence is up 1-0. I believe the puck went off the back of Hosier and went in. I didnt get the name of the girl who scored but I will.

Harbec scores at 12:16 on another D breakdown to put the Saints up 2-0. Chouinard scores at 13:20 to bring it back to 2-1. Berlinguette scored the first St. L. goal. Meaghan Guckian is in goal for St. Lawerence.

After 1 period, the Saints lead 2-1. Mercyhurst was outplayed in the period and in my opinion is lucky to be down by just one. Guckian looks shakey in goal for the Saints so maybe that will keep the Lakers in it.

Two breakaway goals by the Saints has put them up by 3. Duggan at 3:27 and Harbac at 4:17. Timeout Lakers. Drennen now in goal for the Lakers.

After 2 periods the score remains 4-1. Mercyhurst outshot the Saints 14-7. Drennen seems to have stopped the bleeding but it is probably a little too late. Mercyhurst has played a little better since the goalie change.

No action in the 3rd period. Games ends 4-1 Saints. Drennen looked good making a couple good saves. Mercyhurst had the better chances in the 3rd but overall need to improve. Good luck next week against Niagara.

Here's the story so far...Niagara goes to penalty box, Mercyhurst scores.
3 Powerplay goals on 3 chances have the Lakers up 3-0 after one period. The Lakers outshot Niagara 17-7.
Natalie Payne got the scoring going early when she scored her first ever goal as a Laker and it was beautiful. Payne got the puck on the right board, skated in, passed it to herself through the legs of a defender and flipped up past Rutledge. Congrats Natalie on your first goal, it was amazing.
Stefanie Bourbeau scored on the power play at 11:00 off of a rebound into a wide open net. Mercyhurst was just peppering shots at Rutlidge and she couldnt control any of them.
Dani Lansing scored the last goal of the period, also on the power play at 14:39.
Rutledge is not doing a good job controlling shots and at times she looks lost. Niagara is playing like they have a piano on their backs. Mercyhurst is just outplaying, outskating and outhustling them.
More to come...

After 2 periods the score remains 3-0 in favor of the "Hurst". Mercyhurst dominated the period and outshot the Purple Eagles 11-6. Niagara played a little better in the period. Mercyhurst was 0 for 3 on the power play in the period but came very very close on all three chances.

Another fruitless period for the Lakers even though Niagara couldnt get a thing going again. Shots on goal in the period favored the Lakers 10-6.
My quick observation of the game...
Niagara was very lucky tonight the score wasnt 9-0. Rutledge was the luckiest player on the ice tonight. Mercyhurst's game plan was real simple, shoot high and watch the circus begin. Rutledge must have taken 4 shots of the mask and a few high shots were headed that way but she got a glove on it. She rarely covered anything up. On the flipside, Mercyhurst has to find a way to bury those 2nd opportunities.
I thought Stephanie Jones played her butt off tonight. She was everywhere. Great effort. Also, Sarah Kurth played well in a limited role. I know she was coming off a shoulder injury and when she injured herself she was playing well. Sarah is becoming one of my favorite players.
Tomorrow its back to the grind. I hope Mercyhurst can find a way to score a half dozen goals. Also, I wouldnt be surprised to see Drennen or Nelson in goal to give Hosier a little break. Hosier played well tonight although she didnt have many hard shots taken on her.

Almost carbon copy of yesterday's game.
Pendelton scores on a slapshot from the blue line. Goalie never saw it. Then, as I am writing this down Jones scores just :13 later to put the Lakers up 2-0. Then Chouinard scores at 18:22 as she redirects a shot past the netminder. SOG was 21-2 Mercyhurst. It wasnt pretty for Niagara.

Hey, guess who decided to get off the bus today? Yep, Niagara. They outshot Mercyhurst 19-12 but still are lacking in the score. Megan Smith scored for the Purple Eagles at 5:47 but Mercyhurst quickly answered when Chouinard scored her 2nd goal of the game at 6:46. Lisa Agozzino scored to cut the lead to two at the 15:24 mark only to have Mercyhurst score :31 seconds later by Jill Nugent on a pretty backhander for her first goal of the season.

Not much to say about the finish. Shots were 17-5 Mercyhurst. Great job girls and lets win two more next week at Bemidji.

Should be a fun weekend, with the Beavs comming off a split with the #10 Team and of course, how could we forget the split we pulled-out at your place last year! :p

Believe me, I havent forgot. Guess who else hasnt forgot, the Lakers. I still have nightmares about Jill Luebke's performance that day. That game alone got her USCHO.com player of the Week. Hopefully, the Lakers can score a bunch of goals on her early and put the game away.
