3-1 after 2. Clarkson power play goal by Nolan at 5:10. Shots on goal in the period were 12-9 in favor of MC. MC actually outshot Clarkson in the first period 11-3. Just seemed like more.
I wasnt overly happy with the play of the Lakers that period. LEts see how the 3rd plays out.

Final 4-1. Chrissy Yule scored her first of the year. MC outshot Clarkson for the game 35-16.
I am waiting for Shirley and McDonald to get into the scoring action.

MIC, I was doing stats in the media booth last night, and I noticed that the blue line in the east end has a little wobble in it. Do you folks need a bigger straight edge?

Obviously a math professor!!!! Besides, its not the size of the straight edge. Its how you use it. ;)

What did you think of the game yesterday? I thought Marchese was incredible. Coach Sisti must have thought so too because I noticed she was getting double shifted. Like a pro among kids out there.

The only way to stop her is to put a boot on her. ;)

Boy, you make one little mention about a slightly askew blue line, and everyone in the rink makes sure to mention what happened. It just goes to show you how many people read these message boards.

As for the game, I thought Marchese was by far the best player on the ice Saturday. He short-handed goal was a thing of beauty. The Clarkson goal was scored while Clark had misplaced her glove behind the net. My bet is that if she was wearing 100% of her equipment at the time, she would have made that save and registered a shut-out.

Mercyhurst played well in the first period, then fell a little flat in the second and third. To the whole team's credit, they held Clarkson without a shot on goal for more than 32 minutes , from Clarkson's goal in the second period on Friday until about 9:30 in the first period on Saturday. If they can sustain that effort for a whole game and turn shots into goals, they should be in good shape.

Hey Mic,
What's up with the blue line, now that an observant stat man noticed it and pointed it out to the country, it is wobbly. What's wrong with your straight edge. Chop, chop get stat man and come up with a mathematical formula to straighten it. Just maybe there was a circumstance that caused this problem that was pointed out to everyone. Probably not must the incompetant staff. Oh well, hopefully nothing else will catch the eye of eagle eye.

Congrats to Chrissy Yule and Michelle Bonello on making All-Tournament team in the UNH tournament. I have been rather critical of Bonello on her play so far this year so maybe she has come around (or I have been wrong).

Mercyhurst tied up the game at 16:49 by a slapshot by Shirley from the point. Blister of a shot. Assists to Bonello and Yule. MC outshot Prov 15-7. Looks like the Mercyhurst of old.

Hey MICZambonie -- do you know if either of the games this weekend are being broadcast?

My suggestion is this. Email President Garvey, AD Pete Russo and Radio Bill Shannon and ask why last year most of the games were broadcast but none this year. I think it is terrible that they dont broadcast the games for parents and fans. Send all the emails at the same time so the radio people know that your serious.

I will try an update during the game today. No promises but I will try.

I hope to see a better game by the Lakers today. Even though UCONN's record isnt as good as Providence I think they are better. They shut out Niagara yesterday so it may turn out to be a pretty good game.

End of 1

Shirley scores on feed from Marchase about halfway through first to take lead. Lakers outshot the Huskies 10-6. Lakers dictating play throughout. Hosier in goal and hasnt been tested yet. McDonald stoned on a breakaway and a semi breakaway.

Marchase has a hand on every goal. She is so good. Hosier didnt have much to do today. Nothing hard hit towards her. More later.
