Well it's staying in Minneapolis this week, but we'll see if it ends up in Mad-town following next weekend...

Well it's staying in Minneapolis this week, but we'll see if it ends up in Mad-town following next weekend...The belt is still part of the Gophers traveling party after day 1 of the series. Because shootouts are conference-only rules, and the Championship Belt is a national trophy, I propose that shootouts should have no bearing on the holder of the belt (i.e., the previous holder of the belt shall retain in in the event of a tie, as has always been the practice in the past.)

Seconded.

After a vacation in Florida, the belt is back in Madison for Turkey Day.

The Badgers held the Belt until January 10. On the strength of a win and tie versus Wisconsin, the Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs reclaimed the Championship Belt.

I'm sure ARM will chime in on the Championship Belt thread, but UMD retains because of the tie -- the shootout doesn't come into play.
Correct. If somebody remembers to find the "Belt" thread and update it, then have at it.
This seems a little unexpected though, the Belt finds its way to Saint Cloud.

I am prepared to make a few AWA references if anyone would be entertained by such dreck. Forumites from east of Chicago are not likely to be entertained but suffice to say that there may need to be a meeting of the championship committee held at the Dyckman Hotel with Wally Karbo and Verne Gagne in attendance and with Marty O'Neill reporting.

Forget the Dyckman Hotel... How about next Saturday night at the Buffalo Civic Center? ;) That's where the Huskies play a "home" game against MSU-Mankato.

Oh, and "Mean Gene" has to be there, too. :D

Oh, and "Mean Gene" has to be there, too. :DThere's a hockey tie-in there Dave. Mean Gene's son is former Gopher Todd Okerlund.

The Buffalo Civic Center? It does have a sort of AWA feeling, doesn't it?

Is this the Huskies first time to be in possession of the belt? I know that MSU-Mankato has held it in the past, not sure if SCSU has. In any case, congrats to St. Cloud and their fans on winning the season series with the Bulldogs (and taking 6 points.)

If I understand the rules correctly, if SCSU loses possession of the belt any time before the home/home with Minnesota, it is highly likely that it will go into the conference playoffs in Madison. Both Mankato and Bemidji follow up their series vs SCSU with Wisconsin.

Well, the belt is going to spend a week in Mankato after MSU's 4-1 win over SCSU (http://www.collegehockeystats.net/0809/boxes/wmnsstc1.f07).

As expected, the belt is back in Madison afer Wisconsin's win last Friday night at Mankato (and Saturday's tie).

... and from there, the Badgers ran the table and hold the belt through the summer of 2009.

The Badgers lose the belt in their first defense of the season to North Dakota, but have the opportunity to reclaim it in today's rematch.

Is this the first time North Dakota has ever held the belt? My brief scan through this thread could not find a previous occurrence, but then I often miss what is right in front of me.

And now another first -- Bemidji State has the belt after upending the Badgers 1-0 in Coleraine (MN) on Friday!

Could this be the busiest season ever for this thread? We'll see. If the Badgers take it back on Sunday, I'm willing to bet that they don't lose it at all next weekend.:D
