Time to fire up the poll again for week 8 now....All the major games are over for the weekend so we will see if anything major happens in the fan poll...It will be interesting see what people think of Superior and Point now with that recent series that im sure turned quite a few heads.
PLEASE DO NOT COUNT THE WILLIAMS/PLATTSBURGH GAME TOMMOROW INTO YOUR POLL DECISION MAKING....IT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED AS PART OF NEXT WEEKEND'S SCHEDULE... hopefully this eliminates big time differing polls between people that voted today or before the game tommorow and then say Plattsburgh loses...the chances of people picking their polls after that putting them #1 is not very likely...so please do not include tommorow's game in your decision!!

Based on results, still finding it difficult to put anyone from the MIAC in the top 10. Very impressive week for Superior, and an embarrasing performance for Stevens Point. RIT's split with Southern Maine might cause some skepticism about continuing to put RIT in the top ten, but I still think they may be a team to watch. Keep in mind that nobody has had an easy time with Southern Maine so far.

**The weekend series of Stevens Point versus Superior was to say the least interesting, if not bizarre. Seems evident that Superior was dominating 5 on 5 play to prompt this move. Two reasons why the coach would do this, either he was "punishing" the players/goalie for not "skating hard, etc." or that playing 6 on 5 was the best chance they had to win. If "punishing" (Friday night game?), seems harsh as the Pointers had to be physically and mentally tired after playing and showing well on their recent eastern road trip. If "best way to win" (Saturday afternoon game?), passing a no-confidense message to the team that they can't make up a 2 or 3 goal deficit (don't pucks bounce and deflect in strange ways at times?). Biggest message goes to the goalies, especially the freshman goalie who has started most games and had played well up to the Superior series. Nothing like putting "a load of bricks" on her back in that if she doesn't play well, the team doesn't have a chance unless drastic measures (that might work once out of a thousand games) are taken. Though one could say it was relatively effective ( 5 EAGs vs 2 ENGs in the 2 games), this strategy was and is not innovative or "thinking outside the box" and definitely not worth the risk of any lingering effects on team psychology and the team/coach relationship. Point next plays at home against a tough River Falls team. If River Falls takes care of business, they erase an earlier Pointer sweep and are right back in the NCHA race. Consequently, Stevens Point will see the "back-side" of NCHA rivals and most regrettably, of a hopeful season.
Sorry for the length of the post. Guess its my "2 bits" worth versus "2 cents".
Thanks to all for posting comments and results over the weekend!

I agree with hab that So. Maine has been competitive in the games they've played but RIT still has a lot to prove. You might think that RPI has righted the ship given the scores with Holy Cross (they beat them by a greater margin than M-ville) but Bloxsom was not in HC lineup for RPI games. Does anyone know what happened to her?
