season officially underway ... or something ... tonight. tryouts commence as well as the first on-ice stuff of the team. and there was rejoicing because dryland was over. however, a dark cloud hovered overhead due to the fears of being cut ...

GAME UPDATE:
oct. 17 v. u at buffalo - 6-4 win
oct. 18 v. u at buffalo - 5-1 win
congrats to two of the frosh for getting their first goals on friday!
friday's game started out really sloppy. 1-0 bu, 2-0, 2-1, 3-1 ... and suddenly it's 3-3 going into the third. but the team gave the fans their something to cheer about and pulled it out. (yay for the most amount of fans EVER!)
saturday's was pretty much domination on the scoreboard, but at times the play was evenly matched. one thing to keep in mind: buffalo brought 10 people on this trip - 9 skaters and a goalie. this means the team was probably a little tired today. oh well. if anything, next game saturday, october 25 @ uri.

oct. 25 @ uri - 11-1 loss
sadly i wasn't there to see this game due to a class project. however, what i heard was this: uri got a whole bunch of new good freshman. i also heard it was a very chippy, very dirty game and half our players got beat up. one got a stick to the back of the neck and had to go to the hospital but is thankfully all right.
ugh. and our next game is against the same team, but at good old wba - hopefully we can dish out a little payback ...
next game:
wednesday, november 5 vs. uri - 6pm
Quiz, you misspelled URIne.

nov. 5 vs. uri - 6-0 loss.
well, it was "better" than our last game against them. two league losses though ... that just sucks. we chased a lot, ran around in circles - just wasn't pretty. i know at one point in the third i felt like i was literally spinning in circles.
personal notes: got knocked on the ice and had a girl on top of me - tried to get up and knock puck away. ref talked to me and said it looked like i was kicking at the uri player which would be a game misconduct/ejection or whatnot. i said i wasn't (which is true) but found it amusing. also did get off one shot - a little wide and in a teammate's thigh in the second. coach yelled at me for shooting high and said if i did it again, i was done. (reasoning: gave another player a bruise in practice from my shot. hey - i just figured out HOW to take a slapshot ... i can't control the **** thing yet!)
next games:
saturday, nov. 8 @ penn state - 10:15pm
sunday, nov. 9 @ penn state - 10:45am

I dont know about that call then (the ref didnt make) from my vantage point you could tell you were just trying to get your feet out from the URI player that tackled you.
BU played well, but URI is a well condition and well strategiesied team. They were first to the puck, and they played a trap making it hard for BU to get any sort of offense. Add to the fact that they had a couple of really talented girls (for ACHA club hockey) that clogging up the neutral zone gave them even less room to skate for a break-away. The other thing is URI passed real well, or they looked before they passed, where as often times BU players just passed the puck away, never looking to see who was there. (URI picked up on this and passes were often intercepted mid ice by the center for a turnover).
I did get a shot of the URI girl sitting on you.
I thought that shot you got off from the point was good one.
And a personal note, Quiz you look better and better every year, so good job by you and all the hard work you put in to get there. If you werent playing for BU I would take you on my team ANY day.
Oh yeah and email me your college address so I can send you a CD of the photos.
I was incongnito, Im kind of embarrassed, cause I have been sick (some sort of blood sugar thing) for the last 6 months I have put on like 25 pounds so I didnt want anyone to see me, and you said you were refing after so I didnt bother to track you down.

yeah I hear you, if I was in your boat I would of proably of been the same way, sometimes I think as a defenseman I take the goals harder than the goalie does.

nov. 8 @ penn state - 8-0 loss.
nov. 9 @ penn state - 5-4 loss.
first game was pretty awful. drove for 8 hours, ate, warmed up a little ... came out flat. team started to pick it up in the third, but at that point, way too late. second game - stayed with them and finally scored (yay!). probably could have one, but oh well - such is life.
personal front - don't even ask.
other stuff - the lighting at that rink is so weird. also, ice is slowest ever.
*sigh* back to the practice grind for another week. is it bad i'm starting to like practices more than games?
next game:
saturday, nov. 15 @ st. anselm - 3pm

St Anslem beat umass 3-2 on saturday.
They are not that good, but you cant just pass without looking on this team. If you get the shots on goal they should get in, umass just did't have much to throw on them, most of the play was in umass's defensive end.
But like I said they were not THAT good of a team, not better than say URI, and I think those one ore two girls from URI a better than anyone I saw on this team.

You guy's seem to know all the parties involved...what is your take. Penn State visits URI this weekend, two games at URI. Hey quiz, how is your goalie... did she play against PS or did the back up?
