I am brand new here, and would like to comment on this subject. I read that the Cushing goalkeeper did not have a great game in the opinion of one of the posts. My thoughts are that perhaps credit should go to the other team. I would point out that both teams from upper Northern New York, National Sports Academy, or NSA, and Northwood, over the last few years, have either beaten, tied or lost one goal games, or have played competitive games against Cushing, Berkshire, Gunnery, Culver, Lawrence Academy, Gilmore, and many of the traditionally strong Prep Schools and programs. As was pointed out by a previous post, I agree that the talent is spread around pretty evenly, maybe the more traditional Preps have larger rosters, as NSA is a little shorter on numbers than most, competition wise they are closer that it once was.

The season is early and the games are few. Some goalies haven't let in a single goal yet. Others have let in a few. I would like to see all of the save percentages, shots, quality shots...etc. Is there somewhere where the save percentages are listed?

None of this info is on the NEPSAC site, as he gets scores only, nothing about number of shots (much less quality shots. Quality Shots? Huh?? In goalie stats, a shot is a shot and a save is a save.) I can't imagine where the save percentages of different east coast prep goalies is kept online. You would have to contact each school, although many times the team stats are kept by a questionably knowledgable student manager.
I also guess most goalies would know their own stats. ;)

As another tournament approaches Northwoodtourny in Lake Placid I will again get to watch. Northcountry555 you are correct in the fact that the teams from up north are very competitive, and are proving themselves very nicely. It will be fun to see some of the same teams in this tournament play each other again, and see which ones improve themselves or on the other hand remember and monopolize on the mistakes of their opponents. At this level it's always interesting to see if the players are seeing the game in front of them or if the coaching is doing it for them. For the most part I believe it's the players and if the goalie is really as good as she should be, she's seeing and remembering. Her skill will do the rest.
As for league hockey it will be interesting again to see what happens after christmas break and we see who can come out the strongest.

teresa:
I am curious about the source of your stats. I am glad to see that S-SM won the tourney and to at least see these other scores, but I kept the team stats for LA at this game. I know that a scorekeeper at ice level will see shots differently than one with a higher vantage point, but there are inaccuracies here. Nothing against this player, but in the shootout for LA, Annie Hogan missed the net, hitting the glass. Lauren Brozowski didn't even shoot in this shootout (she did, however, have an shootout-clinching goal in a previous LA shootout win that went through nine shooters per team.) Amy Hollstein scored here, going 3-for-3 in OT shootout goals for LA at this tourney. Ashley Cottrell had this other OT goal. And the shot totals are switched: if LA had 18 shots on net, then NAHA's goalie had to have the 17/18 saves-to-shots ratio.
When an eyewitness has contradictory info, it casts doubt on the rest.
So, let the buyer beware for this data. I wouldn't count it as gospel.
What does it matter? Not too much. Congrats to S-SM for making the bus trip out and winning the thing.

Is teresa greene affiliated with any specific team? Or does teresa greene have a daughter on one of the teams?
I like the fact that information is available, but I also remember Teresa Greene sending over information for other tournaments and games a while back. I just cannot remember from where. Either way, thanks for the leg work, but is it done from a team affilation standpoint, or just a objective spectator standpoint? Just wondering the motivation and origin
Thanks either way.

 GEEZZEEWEEZ Didn't think anyone would be offended - why the personal attack on my "motivation"??? Tracking future college prospects/recruits/ standouts in girls prep hockey is presumably the subject matter of this thread and particularly these tournament results may be of interest to fans in the Northeast who didn't see much of Shattuck St. Mary's until the Nationals last year. Lawrence Academy looks to be one of the top preps in MA with very strong players headed to Div I college hockey next year!

Looks as if Shattuck-St. Mary's has 5 girls signed to Division 1 schools for next year....Emily Kranz to University of Wisconsin, Sarah Murray to Minnesota-Duluth, Allysen Weidner to RPI, Gabby Mazade to Cornell, Danielle Hirsh to St. Cloud State. Congrats to them all!

Teresa, keep providing info. Toots, may have had one too many Coronas when she/he posted his complaint about your info. I too saw the info on the USHR site.
When it comes down to it, it really doesn't matter who scored what goal, The scouts that watch the game know what they are watching and know who they want. Any scout worth their weight would not recruit based on stats alone, but actually watch the players and what they do with the puck and away from the puck. Some skills can not be found on a stat sheet.

I do not think anyone attacked or anyone was offended. I feel they were fair questions about the information. I think most posts prefaced that it is not an attack, just a question. Nothing personal, I enjoy reading the information

It took me awhile to find the scores because they were not on the tournament website/schedule and I am very interested in following this Shattuck St. Mary's team (and no, I don't have a daughter on the team or have any team affiliation with it). Last year they were very impressive at the Nationals winning the 19 bracket fairly convincingly with the two Lamoreaux sisters as freshman who are only '89's high scorers for their team and in the top ten of the entire 19 division. (which I AM interested in for the future college prospects).
I glanced at this years Nationals brackets (the source is this web site: http://www.usahockey.com/2006_nationals/girls/main/girls16u//) and lo and behold, the Shattuck St. Mary's team is not competing at the 19s bracket; but the U16!!!! (I would imagine without the seniors - there are five? who are already committed to Div I college hockey programs and maybe some juniors who are not 89's)
This is incredible that they already have an instant lock into the Nationals without any of the other district playdowns???? and they can "modify" their high school roster to qualify for the U16 without the older players???
This is a very strong talented group of players who do practice 5 days a week together - can any other "club" travel team that has a split season with their mix of prep school players have time to come together after the high school season in March to prepare?? Will the club teams be able to practice 5 days a week together in the month of March to be competitive??
Do the powerhouses of Team Illinois, Wisconsin Wild, Syracuse Stars, Polar Bears, Assabet - do they all practice 5 days a week together to prepare for the Nationals?? Most of the girls do play high school with different teams and different players; different clubs have different "systems" I don't think its the same team bonding experience as Shattuck St. Mary's.
Does anyone out there have any more insight on how they qualify for Nationals like this and why NAHA or other programs do not??
