Just a few questions -
Why are the Prep playoffs in Boston (again!) and why on ice surface larger than most prep rinks? Is the semi-final and final game every played in CT?

Is the semi-final and final game every [sic] played in CT?
Spoke to a long-time coach and he told me some history (should have had a pen so I could have shared more with you all). At some point in the past, the Newington, CT rink hosted. He also told me that the New England boys' and girls' tourneys were held simultaneously at the NESC in Marlboro (MA) a while back.
I don't know of a web site with any historical information on the tourney. Anyone else?
I am sure that geography comes into play as well, with the greater Boston area being centrally located.

Good luck to all the teams. Are there any games tomorrow that could affect over or under .500 that could change teams positions(ie...someone loses and is no longer a .500 team thus changing teams records against D1 teams over .500)?

Carloine Heatley, coach (and A.D.) of Dexter/Southfield, is also the President of NEPSGIHA. Hosting the event is a major undertaking and is expensive in dollars as well as man hours. It is at D/S becasue of the generosity and largesse of D/S School and we are fourtunate that they continue to step up and provide this venue.
I hope this helps.

Lawrence@St Pauls - If St Paul's wins they go to .500; both Andover & Nobles would get an extra win, and of course Lawrence would get a loss is the 3rd poll.
Hotchkiss@Taft - If Hotchkiss loses, they drop below .500 agaisnt D1, Choate benefits and it hurts, Pomfret, Loomis, Westy & Cushing. If Taft loses, they probably won't make it to the final 8, but Hotchkiss needs help from Kent & Choate.
Choate@Cushing - A must win for Cushing, but they still need help. If Choate wants home ice in the first round, they have to win, but probably still need help
Deerfield@Loomis, Exeter@Andover, Kent@Westy - These games only effect the 1st poll, overall, and they've all already played each other.
Probably over anylized on my part. I agree with NHDad's poll rankings. If teams ranked 7 thru 11 want to advance, they have to win today.

Does anyone know of a three sport athlete at Brunswick HS named Mary Vaughan? Will she be playing prep hockey next year as a PG player?

One Typo. Pomfret #2 Nobles #3. I don't see Berkshire or Lawrence loosing in first round, the two most balanced teams I saw this year. Wild card being Hillary Knight having a great game and carrying Choate over Lawrence, but I don't see it happening. Only upset I see in the first round is Andover over Nobles. Nobles has not looked good the last few weeks.

My ranking is based on the data in the NEPSACSports.com website.
So, NHDad, do the final pairings match your spreadsheet? Do tell....
(and, good luck Wednesday - be giant killers)

Hey...
Well, there were a couple of surprises, but for the most part, it was correct. My spreadsheet shows the following:
Rank School
1 Berkshire School
2 Nobles
3 Pomfret School
4 Lawrence Academy
5 Phillips Academy
6 Choate Rosemary Hall
7 Loomis Chaffee
8 Taft
----------------------------------
9 Westminster School
10 Hotchkiss School
11 Cushing Academy
I was surprised that Westiminster made it in over Taft. Although, over the last few weeks, Taft has been on quite a slide. I also had Pomfret and Nobles switched and Choate and Andover were switched....but, not too bad.
It sure would be nice to be a "giant killer!" Good luck to you and your daughter, as well.

Pomfret and Nobles were not switched, they tied. That is what the meeting is all about. When things get tight, discussion is neccessary. I think head to head decided it.... but I may be wrong.
Also, Loomis and Andover tied as well. Unfortunetly Loomis won in the head to head, but logistically it's easier if Loomis travel to Pomfret and Andover travels to Nobles. Again, that's what the meetings about, and I may have made a mistake in my assuptions.
Westminster... They don't play any of the Mass power houses, strictly a CT traveling team, including a lot of D2 teams. They finish high in the overall, do well in the D1 compition (8th), and get 2 .500+ games against Taft and Hotchkiss. Congrats to Pope, thru hard work and a little bit of luck he gets the Black & Gold a shot. Good luck against Berkshire.
I haven't heard anything definate yet, but I bet Choate vs. Lawrence winds up late at Pomfret...

I'm not sure what you mean by "Loomis won in the head to head..." The only time these two teams played was at the Taft tourney and Andover won that game.
See if you can make sense of the numbers...they all get "jumbled" when they're posted. My numbers show Andover beating out Loomis for the 6th seed by a point. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I can't make it work where Loomis was ahead. I see Andover beating Loomis in 2 of the 3 criteria...not by much though.
Well, it's just fun to talk about all this. At this point it doesn't really matter as the "powers" have spoken. :)

I agree with everything here except I think Lawrence will go all the way to the finals with Loomis, and then go on to win it all.
