Good to see JoePa off to a strong start. He's probably the premier offensive player in the USHL, and I'm looking for him to have an outstanding season. Waterloo has a pretty nice club, and probably the best set of F in the league.

Schrempf's situation seems more like politics than anything else. It wouldn't surprise me if the kid goes back to Mississauga relatively quickly. Auffrey's off to a bit of a slow start, but I think he'll get things going. Hagemo is off to a good start and its good to see he's playing more physical so far this season.

Another kid I've heard mentioned from time to time on the UW recruiting radar screen is JP Platisha (Brainerd, MN) who is an older kid, but has nice playmaking ability.

Wisconsin Hockey: Moe, Larry, and Schrempf.

Waterloo has 2 really good-looking '87s, too, from what I understand in David Meckler and Tim Filangieri. Guys to keep an eye on...

Platisha could be a walk-on candidate but even those spots are pretty full these days.

Wisconsin Hockey: This JoePa should not retire!

Auffrey has been stuck on a line with two guys playing selfishly. no names mentioned. He's doing all the digging and creating, and has lost 3 second assists that the ref did not credit; and a Captain failed to rectify two of them when requested to do so. Missing one other assists as well.

Out-of-position ref waved off the team's first goal of the season, which Auffrey scored, in game oe. Do the math, 6 points ties him for the lead. The linemates he's with can be very effective playmakers, but it's "draft year" and you could count on ONE HAND how many passes they have fed him with. they are forcing the puck and turning it over. It tends to make one a better backchecker, but doesn't do much for offense. Scouts are well pleased with his skating, defense, and heavy shot. This time, the stats DO LIE!

HH - are you rolling your eyes at Johnson's performance??

0 points!

Auffrey's going to be just fine. If he continues to work hard and play unselfishly, the points and production will come. BTW, kid, I know who Auffrey's linemates are.

Kessel and Skille are off to very good starts. Skille has 3G 3A in 6 games, and Kessel has 6G 2A in 8 games. Also, Wisconsin native Nathan Lawrence has 2A in 6 games. The U-17 club is 3-3-1.

The U-18's are off to a good start. Hagemo is the top scoring D on the club with 3A in 4 games, but also leads the club in penalty minutes with 21. The U-18 club is 4-0 with a game against Findlay Wednesday night.

HH,

Maybe Johnson will learn a little humility. Mr. Dream Team has to realize that its a little tougher outside of SSM, particularly against some of the competition the U-17 will see this season.

For the record, Johnson is a fantastic hockey player. He'll come around, but maybe a little humble pie is good for the kid.

Wisconsin Hockey: Pie, Not Cupcakes.

Auffrey and Schremp are not together. Auffrey has been moved to center, which he played in minor hockey, but is re-learning the D-zone. It's a shame, since as 15 year olds, in the Ontario Provincial League, playing together, they combined for 150 points.

Auffrey's versatility should bode well for Badger Hockey and maybe a future in the Show. Prefers off-wing (Left), but can play all forward positions.

fyi...i have a younger relative on the hawks, and I follow them closely. From what I've seen, Meckler has a wicked wrister for being an '87. He can snipe it.

You Badger fans will love Pavelski. He just has a knack for being in the right place at the right time. Not real flashy but, very effective. The puck seems to end up on his stick and then in the back of the net. Very Grant Potulnyish around the goal mouth, with tip ins and rebounds. Hard, accurate shot but, could improve his skating a bit. Great attitude and work ethic. Good captain material.

Ross Carlson is indeed back in Waterloo doing rehab. Unfortunately, he had a class that didn't transfer to UW. He plans on being back with the Badgers Xmas break I believe.

cornpops-

Thanks for the Waterloo update. Please keep us posted as the year goes on!

After a bit of a slow start, Dan Bertram has put together 3 straight 2 point games. He's moved up to 2nd on the team in scoring with 12 points.

Pat Ford got a win in his first game as head coach at Findlay last night. They beat the NTDP 18's, 4-1. Matt Auffrey was indeed at center as Kid mentioned earlier. They have a week from hell coming up starting Saturday in which they face UNH, Denver AND CC...WOW!!!

Wisconsin Hockey: Now THAT'S a roadtrip!

Hybs,

Interesting comparison with Grant Potulny, although I'd say Pavelski has a helluva lot more offensive polish at this stage in his career than Potulny did in the USHL. However, if Pavelski turns out to be as solid a player as Potulny has been, I'll be **** happy.

Bertram is a big time prospect. Wisconsin has had a nice relationship with Camrose, and I'm hopeful that Bertram gives UW some serious consideration.

I don't think Auffrey's going to play center at UW, so I'd like to see him get moved over to off wing which appears to be more of his natural position. If the NTDP has a tough time with Findlay, they are going to have a really tough time with three upper tier D-1 programs on the road. Yikes is right.

Wisconsin Hockey: Yikes.

Actually he should have 11 points and be leading the team in scoring. If I had the time, I would tell you exactly why. ;)

Just a quick Bertram update - not sure why I always post it here... just feel like I'm among 'friends' I guess.

Dan got a mild concussion in the pre-season and got off to a pretty slow start. He had 6 points after 6 games, and since then has 8 in the last 4 - four straight 2 point nights. He should probably be on the league scoring leaderboard right now. He is incredible to watch.... likely the most 'talented' player I have had the opportunity to watch in this league so far, bar none.
Yes, including Dany (get well Dan's!).

Kodiaks have not lost in 9 games(in regulation time 7-0-2) since going 0-2 to start the season and boast at least 5 rookies who will be going south in the next couple years.

Suter was rock solid. He was poised, he was out in every crucial situation, and points are points, the real question is how did his club do and UW is 1-1, and Michigan is 1-1.

Earl was VERY good. How many points does Hensick have? Earl has 2, while Andrew Joudrey has 3. Guess Joudrey and Earl are the better players, right? Dope(c).

HH is a fool. Pay him no mind.

Wisconsin Hockey: HH = Fool.

I've been reading the Earl/Joudrey dialog. It sounds like both show promise. If you were asked to pick between them right now in answering the question "who's going to put up the most points in the next 7 weeks" which one would you pick?
