Joe Campbell

also has had some issues up at UW-Superior, he's not been the "pillar of defense" as some of their fans had predicted, I think he'll still fit in really well @ the D-3 game better than the D-1..

UW Badgers have no real loss on him being gone..

btw, 6 of our 8 defensemen are from Wisconsin!!!!!!!!!

Cool uniforms for the Gamblers. For some strange reason I always envisioned thier colors being green and yellow. What do the away uni's look like?

I really like the idea of all these kids from Wisconsin playing for the Badgers, as long as they have some talent, of course. In 10-12 years I'll be supplying 2 players to the roster, probably 2 d, but maybe a d and a goalie. And yes, they have talent. Is there an age limit on how young a player can be recruited/commit to a school? Didn't some 11 yr old named Pinesomething get recruited/signed by BC?

I know that Morin has been mentioned as a target for 2005. Have we been going after Zach Jones or did we write him off as a future NoDak recruit?

Having seen anything indicated that we're after Jones although I'm sure many schools are.

The Central Select 17 team got under way yesterday with an easy 6-0 win. 2 Points for Kessel.

Kessel and Skille were paired on the first line for Central from what I understand. Skille is not the skater that Kessel is, but he's tough, he's skilled, and he's going to be a big time player in the future. Pretty tough first line with those two on it. A preview of things to come, maybe? :D

Minnesota's crew took a tough loss to Michigan, 5-3. A really chippy game from what I understand, and a bit surprising as Minnesota's gang is loaded with talent (Johnson, Mueller, Stoa, et al).

BTW, Nathan Lawrence was dismissed from the NTDP late last season for "disciplinary reasons" and is playing at selects with the Dakota club. I don't think you'll see this kid in Cardinal and White, and considering the way he played himself on to the NTDP, this is a surprising development. Had not heard much from the UW folks on Lawrence, and this may explain a few things.

Morin remains a priority. I would imagine UW has contacted Zach Jones, and I'm wondering what Jones' choices might be at this early stage.

Wisconsin Hockey: Go Central.

Hopefully Eaves and Co can reel in the big fish in Kessel, and we should be done with forwards for like the next three recruiting years. I got to believe we are hard after both Morin and Jones. We need a COUPLE of Dman for the next class. I got to believe the spinning coaching carousel has helped us on both. Having O. as an assistant should make UW more attractive to a Dman and the Sue's change at the top might make them a little less comfortable for Mr. Jones. Something about a dman from Illinois that makes me like UW chances. Who's the goalie going to be?? We need to get someone lined up to come in for Bruckler. I would think we'll hear something in the next few months on all these fronts and then we can start to concentrate on the '06 recruits.

Mueller is only on the 16s. Unless you are looking at a roster I am unfamiliar with. :D

Minnesota's 17s team is a little weaker on defense this year. Especially since Jack Johnson isn't playing. They are strong up front and strong in goal. But it is a team game and I think a few of the blueliners aren't as strong. :(

Barring a collapse of idiotic proportions in NoDak, I don't see Jones going anywhere but North Dakota. It is rare when a kid doesn't follow in the footsteps of a brother that is close in age and has had success at a program.

But with the head coach going, the possibility of Jones looking elsewhere is probably higher than it was otherwise. Actually, the more I think about it, either Morin OR Jones would be fine to pair up with another Suter. I forgot that Garrett would be a pretty good possibility to play in '05. How about an all Madison powerplay unit of Burish, Kessel, Skille, Suter & Suter!! (I know the second Suter is not very likely, but how about Kluby from Sun Prairie!!)

I think I'd rather see them bring in a more offensive-minded d to replace Ryan next season. The last two d recruits we've taken, Drewiske and Engel amounts to a guy we didn't initially want and a solid d we wanted to play in the USHL another season. Hopefully they land an elite d and let Garrett play a couple years in GB.

The late departure of Engel could help move Suter up their depth charts. GB's really been wiped out this offseason on defense.

There will be 13 Wisconsinites on next years roster...THIRTEEN!!!! There doesn't seem to be an end in sight either as the Badgers would gladly welcome Skille, Kessel, G Suter and quite possibly Bohmbach and Dehner (cousin of the Suter clan, also playing in GB this season) from that Central team alone.

Also of interest, Joel Sauer (Madison) and Shane Connelly are both playing for the Dakotas team. From the sounds of it, Michigan is really after Connelly for '05 to replace Montoya. It'll be interesting to see how that shakes out for his services...especially if Montoya signs this summer.

Does Canada still produce hockey players?:-))

Funny, some Gopher fans thought similarly about Mark Stuart after Lucia left CC and landed at the U. Yet Stuart still decided to go where his brothers went to school. Like I said, unless NoDak completely bungles it, I don't see Jones going anywhere else.

Hammy,

Did you happen to notice their approach to hiring a new head coach!:-))

Let's hope the hiring of a new assistant is just as "smooth" as replacing the head coach!!

Eric, do you think the younger Suter just won't be ready by next fall??

That's a whole different topic. But I still doubt you'll see the kid in any other uniform than NoDak's. It might end up hurting them with some recruits but I doubt it will with a legacy type of recruit.

He could be ready, but I don't think he'd be the best fit for '05. Garrett's basically the meanest, nastiest, toughest Suter of them all. I don't look for him to ever provide much offense which is something they're going to need to replace Ryan, imo. If they can swing two more d for '05, then he could be an option. We'll have to see how he does in GB. I'd rather take a "sure-thing" than "reach" for a 3rd straight defenseman.

The nastiest Suter? That's saying something :)

In a family renound for its hard working, blue collar Dmen but with a nasty edge to their game (this could read: an edge that takes the physical nature of the game right up to the line of going too far and into penalty/goon land . . . but not over it) Ill say thats saying a lot. There is definately a brilliance to the Suter physciallity or "meanness". A brilliance to knowing just where to take that nature so as to preserve the acts from being dubbed goonery.

For the record, I cant wait to see Ryan let that mean streak completely go when he hits the NHL and get in his first fight. I have this feeling that there is a whole level of nasty we have yet to see in him, and that will be unleashed when he has his first fisticuffs.

I guess I can wait one more year...what's the rush?

Well I didnt exactly mean that I want him to go pro tomorrow to see this event (that is even IF a season occurs where he could have this happen). I was more of a statement that whenever he goes pro, I cannot wait to see that first fisticuff:D .

Anyone else thinking about going to see some Admirals games IF he spends any time in the AHL?

Ryan Suter will not need to play one game for Milwaukee. When he chooses, he will immediately land on the Nashville roster.

...UNLESS HE GOES PRO THIS FALL IN WHICH CASE HE WILL NEED SOMEWHERE TO PLAY IF THE LOCKOUT GOES AS EXPECTED.
