Size is definitely not an issue with Bohmbach. Watching him at the state tourney, he's got good size and good skill. Having lived in MN and WI, it'll be interesting to see where his loyalty is if both teams are interested.

Remember the name Andreas Noedl (or Nodl with an umlaut). He was at the Sioux Falls camp and played very well. He's from Austria and is a friend of Vanek..and appears to be following in his footsteps by playing with SF. He's a forward and was one of just two '87's to play on the U-20 team for Austria this past year (with Vanek). He could be a kid to keep an eye on.

As for an earlier post that mentioned the Badgers not having any money to make it possible for Engel to play here THIS year. Well, he may not play here this year, but I highly doubt money would be the issue. Of the 9 WI kids on the roster last year, I believe Suter was the only fullride. They could easily backload any package he received because he's not going to get a full scholarship.

Eric,
Thanks for the heads up on Noedl. Guess we'll have to keep an eye on the kid. I noticed they mentioned Goligoski was impressive in the Sioux Falls camp. I bet they are disappointed that he won't be playing for them now that Ballard has gone pro.
I'll be watching Bohmbach at the camp to see how he measures up. He is only one of 4 kids that play HS hockey outside of MN that will be in the camp (another one is from Wisconsin. Tyson Abel from Hudson. The other two are from North Dakota)

I listened to parts of a few SF games down the stretch once Ford committed to the UW. The late addition of Goligoski really gave their lineup a much-needed boost. I believe in the 10 games Goligoski played in, SF won 4 games. They had 11 wins in their previous 50 games. He's no Matt Ford but I'm sure he'll do alright with the Gophs!:-))

Jason DeSantis (NTDP defenseman) who tagged along with Jordan Pearce earlier in the year for unofficial visits to the UW, committed to Ohio State. Scratch him from the list of possible walk-ons for next season to replace Sawatske.

Scratch Jimmy Kilpatrick off the list as well, he committed to CC.

As I have stated many times on this thread before, Kilpatrick has decent skill but I have not been a big fan of his game over the years. Kind of soft and too much of a pretty boy on the ice. He's not a bad pick up at this time of the year for CC but Badger fans shouldn't be too upset about it. He isn't much of a "loss" for the Badgers in my book.
Edit: That is, if the Badgers even were seriously after him. I have no clue about that. I know the Gophers weren't interested

I think Kilpatrick & Desantis were nothing but fallback guys if we wiff on the top targets. There is no room in the inn for Kessel/Morin AND Kilpatrick/Desantis. It's tough to string guys along without an offer, when other quality schools put offers on the table. Now I don't KNOW that the staff did not offer, but I would assume as long as Kessel/Morin have not said no and are giving any inkling that they are interested, that the staff with limited schollies would be very stingy with the few they have left. Hell, I'm not sure how we come up with a full ride for each of the main targets & a goalie without some creativity or someone leaving. Don't get me wrong, we may rue the day where we did not get Kilpatrick/Desantis (especially if Kessel goes MJ or... gasp to one of the U of M's). I would also expect to see another Suter in 2005 one way or another, which would give us Kuby, Gilbert (stays to senior year?), Drewiski, Piskula, Olinger, Likens, a Suter???, & the long rumored Engel?? While that is a nice core, adding Morin + another partial Scholie type (Engel??) would be ideal for '05. Having 9/10 dmen lined up would be ideal for competion, covering for international duty, injury, unexpected departure, or someone just not developing as hoped. If you are a top Dman, how do you not go to UW with Ward AND O on the staff. Now with the Steve Miller O song, we'll have to be careful who we are pointing at so as not to confuse with Osiecki (although I think that is done in between periods).

Gut feeling says Kessel will go Major Jr.
It sounds like he isn't all that interested in accelerating his studies to go to college a year earlier and I can't see him playing in the USHL for a full year after the NTDP when he would already be one of the top players in that league as it is. That would almost seem like a year of wasted development in his case.
He is already so advanced yet still a while away from college that I would think he is one of the few cases in which I might not fault a kid for taking a different route than college hockey.

According to USHR the only 3 schools to offer Kilpatrick a scholarship were CC, Minnesota, and UNO. I'm guessing we would of been after him if not for landing Gorowsky. As we don't need anymore forwards unless their name is Kessel.

The Gophs definitely never offered for next fall. They were finished up recruiting a while ago so I am not sure where Warner of USHR is getting this from. Something tells me he may have gotten the wrong team with "Minnesota" in their school name

I believe there was another more recent article somewhere in which it was said differently. But who knows.... a kid that age changes their mind about every other day. ;)
Any news on the Goalie recruit that Heisenberg has listed for UW this fall----Jim Redpath-G (6/11/04) Wichita Falls (NAHL) 5'11 180 12-16-83?

I'm sure it was just coach speak and not his true opinion, but my favorite quote in the article was Hynes saying that Kessel had a 50/50 shot at making the USA U18 World Team...a team that he not only made but scored seven goals for (the next highest on the team was two goals). He also tied for the team lead in +/- with Hagemo.
Re: Redpath ...Looks like he was the number 2 goalie for the Rustlers, playing just 21 games. He hails from Mahtomedi MN.

Could Redpath be an indication that the staff is VERY comfortable with Elliot as the heir apparent to Bruckler and just looking for a backup? I don't see anything to indicate Redpath would be more than a walkon or at best partial schollie guy. Could we skip a year for goalie and look for a top end one in '06 instead of '05. Might give us a better balance with eligibilty.
It looks like that, but remember that we were suppose to have a walkon last year come---Alec Pine. What happended to him?
Elliott could be the main man but only having a backup who was a backup (apparently from the post below) in NAHL is scary. We do need to even out the scholarships between the different classes though...

I wish a newspaper guy or somebody would shed some light on Eaves goaltending plan. As the third stringer, Redpath will play in maybe no more than one exhibition game next year. I'd rather go to a Stevens Point, but that is just me. Is this kid a 100% walkon? Is he getting any money? Is the plan to save scholarship money and work him in as the backup to Elliot? So many questions, so few answers.

Well if the kid has picked up any of Daddy's skills and hockey genes and pans out as a solid recruit when he comes of age for playing, I sure Eaves would be glad to have him.

As a coach against this kid, I thought he was better than his brother Chris, who was a senior and the big eight player of the year.
