Ok thanks for the clarification, someone else posted earlier about Hanson to Mankato and didn't check myself. I was a bit confused when it was Mankato and they weren't mentioned in his list previously.

my dad spoke with joe piskula this weekend at the state h.s. tourny and he plans on playing here next year. i think he would be a recruited walk on kinda like carlson this season.

I know they wanted him to walk-on but had not heard that he committed. He'd likely fill the void left by Chris Julka if true.

I hope he would more than just fill the void left by Julka. No offense to Julka, but he wasnt a very solid player. Hopefully Piskula can develop in the Eaves system and compete for PT.

Seems like a nice pickup (assuming there is truth to the hearsay from dad). He along with Drewiske should go a long way toward filling out the depth chart in the event Suter bolt early &/or we get some injuries cropping up. I know neither compare to Hagemo as far as hype/NHL draft potential, but a pretty nice recovery by Eaves and company to find a couple of kids to fill the gap his late defection created. Hopefully one or both of these kids can develope into very good players more so than just depth filling. The way I figure, Eaves probably has acouple more Dmen lined up. If he is recruiting to have 20 forwards on the roster next season, we must be trying to have at least 15 D-men right?? Fillout the D with a couple more, add a goalie or two, and we'll have a JV team!! Assuming no departures we are unaware of, talk about competion for playing time for the 4th line & the 5th/6th Dman.

What's the fallback if we don't land Pearce? Who else should we be watching?

The idea of a JV team sounds nice. When was the last time we had one. Wasn't former Badger Ian Perrin the coach for awhile many years ago---was he the last?

What is the "gut" feeling on Bertram----BC or Major Junior?

I know that while i was a undergraduate at wisconsin in the mid 80's there was a JV team.

Pearce and Shane Connelly (Chicago Steel) are probably the best two uncommitted US goalies available for '05.

Pearce mentioned UW, Mich and MSU. MSU seems set in goal with Vicari so I don't think they'll be much of a factor. Between Montoya and Bruckler, I'd assume Bruckler would be the most likely one to bolt for the NHL after this season. Plus, having Bill Howard in your corner certainly can't hurt. We'll see..I always like our chances when it comes to landing an elite goalie.

Centennial is up 1-0 with about 8 minutes left in the game. Gorowsky scored the only goal so far.

Congrats to TG and Centennial! I believe they play Wayzata tomorrow who has Lucia's kid and the gopher football recruit if I recall correctly.

Anyone see the Cent v. AHA game and have any thoughts? Someone mentioned on a different board that Gorowsky's leg appeared to still be giving him some problems. Hopefully it's nothing he can hurt even worse from trying to tough it out.

Obviously Gorowsky scored the GWG goal but who won the individual battle between he and Hillen..the 2 Mr. Hockey favorites?

Are these last couple games televised? I'd like to get a tape of them if possible.

Wisconsin Hockey: Go Goro!

Yes, Centennial plays Wayzata (with Lucia's son) tomorrow.

I just got done watching a tape of the AHA-Cent. game. It was much closer checking than you'd think. I don't think Gorowsky was hurt. Maybe just dinged up his hip area a little bit but he was back out there shortly thereafter.

To be honest, neither Hillen or Gorowsky were stellar in this game. Hillen was mostly a non-factor. He really didn't generate much at all. He had a few nice rushes but really didn't do much other than that. He is a smaller kid with good skating ability. He carries the puck well and can run a PP. We'll see if his size/strength hurts him in college.

Gorowsky was a little more of a factor than Hillen today but it was too close checking of a game to hype either one as far as generating offense in today's game. His goal came on an AHA turnover in which an AHA kid played the puck lackadaisically and Gorowsky tipped the puck away from him and went in on the goalie and beat him 5 hole (or so it looked). A solid play but the AHA player's laziness is what caused it.

Gorowsky's biggest strength is his shot. He has a hard wrist shot compared to many other kids at the HS level and he gets it off quickly. Come to think of it right now, he reminds me a little bit of Rene Bourque..... hard shot, good size (though smaller than Bourque) but not fleet of foot. His skating is what needs the most work. He has good strength for the HS level which he uses well (especially on the faceoff). It will be interesting to see how effective he is when he goes up against players of similar size/strength. Next year in the USHL should be a good test.

The games are on tomorrow and Saturday.... I took vacation for tomorrow. :D

They just said on the radio broadcast that Joe Piskula verbally committed today, so dapack's Dad was right.

Centennial: 3
Wayzata: 0

Looks like Centennial dominated this one in every possible way and will advance to play Moorhead tonight in the final at 7:00.

Gorowsky had 3 assists. He "just" needs 6 more points tonight to reach 100 for the season. He has 40-54-94.

I guess Ryan Flynn (best sophomore in the state?) was injured early in last nights game and will also miss the final. This could be a big loss as he was 3rd on the team in scoring if I'm not mistaken.

One of Moorhead's two losses this season was to Centennial earlier in the year. The good guys won 4-1.

Is it just me or does Hammy appear to like RJ "inflated stats" Anderson a lot more in the last week or two since it appears he will commit to Minnesota after the tournament?:-))

This sounds like the matchup everyone wanted to see in the final. You've got the probable Mr. Hockey in Gorowsky (Wisconsin) and quite possibly the 2 best junior defensemen in the state of Minnesota in Anderson (eventually Minnesota?) and Brian Lee (Moorhead-North Dakota). May the best team, named Centennial, win!:-))

I know your comment is tongue in cheek but the reality is Centennial's offensive stats are inflated. The TV guys even said it yesterday before Centennial's game and, as you well know, it has been written numerous other places by those other than me. It doesn't matter who commits where, it still doesn't change the fact that you could probably take their individual stats down about 20 to 30 pts. if they played in a stronger conference such as the Lake Conference.

Fortunately for Centennial, they will be moving to a more competitive conference next season so they should face a more consistent challenge game to game.

As for Anderson, I have always liked the kid's game (my dad thinks the kid is the real deal) but I have always had trouble figuring out who I felt is the best d-man of that junior class. I go back and forth on it because that class is pretty loaded at that position which makes it tough to decide.

That HS junior class of d-men in MN is loaded. Even more loaded when you consider Hagemo would have been a part of that group if he had stayed with his "normal" graduating class. That is a group that MN hockey should be **** proud of.

Class AA title game: CENTENNIAL: 1, MOORHEAD: 0

Congrats to Gorowsky and Centennial on winning their first state title. In the 3 state tourney games, Centennial SHUTOUT the #2, 3, 4 teams in the AA rankings!!!

Give Gorowsky a lot of credit, too, for toughing it out. He's been playing with a pulled hip muscle, a hernia and a partially torn muscle near his left knee. He will have surgery on the hernia on Wednesday. He said ideally he would've been out 4 weeks but he missed only their first section game.

Sounds like Mr. Hockey material to me, which I believe is announced today. Winning a state title and Mr. Hockey and having hernia surgery all in a week..does it get any better than that?:-))
