Having watched Centennial play numerous times (and I'll watch them play again tonight) I can flat out say that Gorowsky is a good player. But, he's not even the best player on his own team. RJ Anderson (JR. - Defense) is the best player on that team.
The scout I heard said Gorowsky was the best senior in the state. He did not say he was the best player. Wheeler was the best player according to this scout.

let's face it, even if Gorowsky were the best player (which I understand he isn't but still top 5-10) you'd still have the lunatic 5% denegrating him.

Maybe Gorowsky can work on getting RJ Anderson to follow him to UW?? Oh nevermind. If he did he would just be a player who had his stats padded by poor competion or would not be the best player in the state or wouldn't be the best player on his own team at that time or the mighty goofers weren't interested in him or Don Woog (or is Don Lucy) wouldn't have been interested in any in state kids. Why is it so hard for anyone from the goofer state to simply say he is a nice player, end of story.

Unlike that sane and reasonable 95% who realize that the 175th player drafted into the USHL (as an 18 year old) deserves two or three seperate threads and hundreds of posts when he commits to college.
Stop the presses, Gorowsky commits!

Last time I checked, there was only one thread devoted to him and that was started by one of our lawyer friends that was wrapped up in court for the past week and missed all of the discussion. All of the posts on here have been made because of meatheads like you trying to say he is a mediocre at best grab. When you try to take a cut at our discussion of our recruits at least try to get the numbers right. Then again, I guess one mistaken thread from a uscho isolated guy devoted to him doesnt sound quite so good, does it???
Go back to your cave, troll. Oh wait, they probably dont want you in your UM cave. I guess you will just have to roam around as a homeless poster provoking the ire of all that you talk to.

With Wisconsin High School Hockey tournament starting, are there any players on the teams that are left that could be targets down the road. At Memorial there are Johnsons and a Sauer (I presume Coach Sauer's son??). What happens with someone like Sauer, does he get the nod out of respect? Did one of Coach Howard's sons get a scholarship or was he a walkon?
Mr. Jones response:
Haha, are you serious? Johnsons and Joel Sauer targets down the road. That's funny. Really, that's funny.
Mr. Jones: I don't think you understood the comment. The comment about Johnson or Sauer (not related to Coach Jeff) went with the subsequent question that you were unable to answer. I'll make it clearer, did Troy Howard (one of Coach Howard's hockey playing sons---I think he had another one who went to NMU or Tech???? Just guessing) get a scholarship or was he a walkon? Scolarships have been and will continue to be given out to a player for many reasons beyond ability!

HH - The sun also rises.
Say what you will about Gorowsky being drafted 175th but Eaves has already proven in 2 seasons he knows talent and can win with it and get 100% from the players. UW has 1, yes 1 class of Eaves recruits and look at the turnaround.
Let me remind you. The picked for 7th place in the WCHA Badgers defeated the perennial powerhouse hosers from Ann Arbor 3-1.
UW isn't going anywhere but up so get used to it.

HH is a bonehead.
When he's not stalking poor Matt Nickerson, or blathering on and on about Jason Dest, Matt Hunwick, or some other golden boy, he's ripping on everyone else's recruits.
Gorowsky's a good hockey player. He's one of the state of Minnesota's best players, and if that's not good enough for Mr. Talent Evaluation (i.e. HH), tough. I'll takes Eaves judgment over his any day of the week.
Gee whiz HH, despite all of your denigration of UW recruits for '03, I think they've done pretty well and UW's back on the national scene with 8 frosh (Suter, Likens, Carlson, Earl, Dowell, Joudrey, Brandt, and Heatley/Olinger) playing every single night.
Blast him not Badger Bretheren, for he not knoweth how truly ignorant he ist! ;)
Wisconsin Hockey: Gorowsky to Wisconsin!

Sidney Crosby was the 128th player drated in the very same USHL draft...and he's been called the next Gretzky!!!
Centennial beat Roseville 9-2 last night. Gorowsky had a goal so he must've at least played some. Hopefully the big lead allowed him to take the rest of the night off and rest up for their big game tomorrow night against Hill-Murray. That should be a great game..hopefully they post the final score at the Kohl Center tomorrow night!:-))
To answer the Bertram question:
If Bertram is indeed an '04 now, the Badgers are out because they are done recruiting forwards for that class. Eaves said they'd like to add another dman to that class and possibly have to replace Suter and/or Bruckler if they leave early. The lack of Canadian recruits in general under Eaves doesn't give me a whole lot of confidence that the Badgers are really in the mix for any major Canucks..but I could be wrong.

Goroswky will have a successful college career, but I don't see him as a blue-chip prospect.
How much did Gorowsky play last night..did he look completely healthy?
Any idea whether Anderson intends to return to Centennial for his senior year or is he headed to the USHL full-time? I think he's up to 80 points now which is pretty **** amazing for a junior defenseman. Hopefully TG can turn him into a Badger fan!
What should we expect from Centennial vs. H-M tomorrow?

...is that he never plays in college. I would suspect that Eaves also believes this which is why there is no real spot left for him next year. You will see Mr Bertram playing Canadian MJ next year.

Obviously the chances of Crosby ever playing in the USHL were somewhere between 0 and none, and I'm sure the team that drafted him was fully aware of that. On the other hand Gorowsky seems very likely to try out for the USHL since he is nearly 18 and grew up in the neighborhood. Never having seen the guy play, I would be inclined towards skepticism after seeing him drafted 175th overall, one of the last players taken.

HH,
Did you consider that many of the USHL types may have hesitated because they felt Gorowsky would go straight to D-1 from HS? Is that plausible? Wait...sorry...its you...you wouldn't know to consider that given your limited faculties.
But you admit you've never seen one of Minnesota's top players ever play a shift, yet you're inclined towards skepticism.

I wasn't at the game last night but my father attended. He loves the way Centennial plays because they remind him of some of the Iron Range teams he liked from long ago.
His opinion is that Anderson is the best player on Centennial. He also likes Ryan Flynn (soph) a lot. But since he is a Gopher alum, you would probably discount those opinions. :p ;)
I know Anderson has taken some unofficial visits to local schools already. Not sure if Bucky is in the hunt at all.
Roseville wasn't much of a challenge for Centennial as they graduated a lot of players from their runner up team from a year ago.
Centennial already beat Hill-Murray earlier this year. It should be a pretty darn good game though. Guentzel's kid (a junior) is on Hill-Murray.
Lucia's son (a soph) plays at Mariucci tonight (for Wayzata) for the chance to go to state. I wonder if his dad will be around? Could be a tough choice cause dad could be watching Blake Wheeler play tonight in the rubber match between Blake HS and Breck HS. That is where I will be. :D
My dad wants to see two games though so he is headed to Mariucci instead. I think I'll see the better game. Quality over quantity I say. ;)
Outside of Gopher games, state sectionals are by far my favorite hockey games of year to attend. Nothing like watching young kids playing their guts out to make it to the greatest state tournament there is. :)

My guess is he was drafted that late because USHL teams knew he was going to stay in HS and pursue the state title. No sense in using a higher pick on somebody who was clearly unlikely to leave his current team.

Hammy may have had another plausible explanation for Gorowsky's USHL draft position. Amazing HH, what happens when you occasionally think outside the box.
Lot's of good hockey this week in MN HS hockey.

It sounds like the talk elsewhere on the board that he's leaning toward the alliance might be right; his agent may be pushing him that way. He'll be in college I think.
